Don't Ask Me How I've Been

Cassie sighed entering the Hogwarts express, it was nice to be getting back to school. Even if this year Snape was going to be headmaster and Voldemort was practicly in charge of the whole wizarding world. She had had enough of her family, because while she loved them they really could be a pain sometimes. Though Cassie had spent quite a lot of the summer with Emma, the two of them had been drifting a bit as Cassie wasn't around much so that had been nice. Cassie found the compartment Lyssa was in and pulled her trunk inside. She put it on the rack above the chairs and sat down. "Hey," She said smiling at Lyssa.

Lyssa was in the compartment reading when Cassie showed up. "Hey," she said, not looking up from her book. It was getting to a good part. Cassie could just deal with the lack of attention for a while.

Cassie sat cross-legged on the chair, she supposed she could wait for Lyssa to finish whatever part of the book she was up to. They were going to be on the train for seven of so hours anyway. She looked out the window, the station looked emptier then it usaully did. Probably because of the lack of Muggle borns, and parents would have pulled their children out.

Lyssa finished up the chapter some time after the train had started moving. She was reading it slowly to make sure she didn't miss anything and she had just started the chapter when Cassie had shown up. She closed the book and set it on her lap.

Cassie stared out the window until Lyssa finished reading. "How was your holiday?" Cassie asked her once she put the book down on her lap. She'd taken her time reading it, but then maybe she just wanted to get everything or something like that.

"It was fine," Lyssa answered, looking out the window of the train and watching the scenery go by at a high speed, since the train moved pretty fast. She wasn't really in the mood to talk at the moment, and so planned to keep her answers vague and aloof.

"That's good," Cassie said looking at Lyssa and wondering if she was purposely being vague or she just was without realising it. The silence that followed made Cassie feel somewhat awkward, she didn't really like silence.

Lyssa internally sighed at the silence. "So, how was your summer?" she asked, frowning on the inside. She honestly didn't care how it w as, but as Cassie's best friend it was her obligation.

"Yeah good," Cassie said with a nod. "Stayed at Emma's a lot which was fun." She shrugged running a hand through her hair. "And I learnt how to drive, well semi learnt anyway. The only problem is I'll probably have forgotten by the next time I have a chance to drive.."

Lyssa just sort of nodded at Cassie, not really having a comment to say or make or whatever. They fell into silence again, but eh that had been a normal occurrence over the last few years. Unless they had something to really talk about things got quiet.

Cassie frowned at the silence again, she didn't like it. But it had been happening a lot over the past few years. Cassie sighed. She tried to keep the conversations going but Lyssa usaully ended it by not contriputing or anything, it was like she really did not give a damn about it. Cassie looked out the window again running a hand through her hair.

After a little while longer, Lyssa went back to reading her book. She sort of wanted to finish it before school started up that year, since she knew she would have little time to read it. At school she had a full-time committment at keeping Cassie placated by acting out and rebelling against things. This year would take more work than most, due to Snape being headmaster. And Lyssa knew for a fact that the two newest teachers were Death Eaters. This coming year was going to exhaust her.

Cassie frowned slightly, and then decided that she might as well read. As she needed something to do as Lyssa wasn't really in the mood to talk it seemed. Annoyingly her book was at the buttom of her trunk so she had to pull everything out and then all back in. They got to Hogwarts some hours later and the two girls made their way onto the platform.

Lyssa finished her book just in time to have time to change and then to exit the train onto the platform. She stored her book away in her trunk and got up to leave the compartment. She walked out, leaving Cassie in there. Lyssa really wanted to beat the crowd of students that would soon be coming.

Cassie grabbed her trunk and followed Lyssa out of the compartment, and then out of the train. She got somewhat caught in the crowd so lost Lyssa someplace and then couldn't find her again. Cassie got a seperate carraige thing, got up to the school and entered the great hall. Sitting down next to Lyssa at the Gryffindortable.

Lyssa found herself a carriage, barely noting that Cassie didn't show up in it as it set for the castle. That meant she could just sit quietly the whole ride. It reached the castle and she went to sit at the table, waiting for food to show up.

The first years finally got into the great hall. The sorting hat's song was interesting, it reflected on the war that they were in the middle of and said some stuff about how working together and all that is important. The first years were soon sorted.

the first years got sorted and soon food had appeared. Lyssa grabbed some to eat, still having not said a word to Cassie even though the girl was sitting next to her.

Cassie grabbed a pie and started to eat it. The silence was starting to really bother her. "So," She said unsure of what exactly to say but knowing that she wanted to say something.

Lyssa looked over at Cassie as she swallowed what she was chewing. "So," she said back, but continued on, "I don't think Snape deserves to sit in that chair." Was that a lie? Possibly, but it would keep Cassie on her side.

"Bah either," Cassie said throwing the headmaster a dark look. "It's totally ridiclous." She scowled, McGonagall should have been headmistress.

"Wasn't McGonagall deputy headmistress anyway? So the job would automatically fall to her?" Lyssa went on, building things up.

Cassie nodded. "Ridiculous," She muttered again scowling at Snape. "He sure as hell does not deserve the position."
