Adrian walked through the hallways of Hogwarts. For the last seven years, he had been figuring out the way this place worked. However, he could care less about the rules and regulations, or even the history of the school. Some people were obsessed with that stuff. Adrian found it cool and all, but it wasn't his thing.

No way. What he noticed walking down the hall was the people. There were lots of strange people there, and he knew almost every single one of them. Most of them had no idea who he was, beyond that he was on the Slytherin Quidditch team. However, that was perfectly fine with him. He was in-between groups at the time, just leaving the last group and moving on now to the next. He decided it was high tide to pick a few faces from the crowd.

As he walked, he spotted Percy Weasley, the uptight Gryffindor prefect with a mess of brothers. Although Adrian was not sure he could see himself as a long-term friend of the kid, he was kind of cute, in his absurd kind of way. He might be worth talking to.

It would be far more fun to go a step further, though.

He approached Weasley.

"And don't let me catch without your tie again, Rollins. There are rules for a reason you know, and your brother would be ashamed of you." He patted the second year on the back and pushed him off in the direction of his next class. Normally he wouldn't bother one of the younger students about the dress code, but in a tension-filled year like this, Percy was even more on edge than usual.

He made a quick sweep of the hall, making sure none of the usual misbehavior was taking place. There wasn't much he could do about it if there was a commotion going on (especially if it happened to be his twin brothers causing it) but at least he would know he wasn't losing his touch. Seeing nothing that looked too suspicious, Percy smiled self-importantly. He quickly corrected it, though, as his peripherals caught someone headed straight toward him. Years of Quidditch matches (and late-night dorm room rants by Oliver) helped him recognize Pucey, one of Slytherin's chasers. His expression returned to his normal stern, disapproving look.

Adrian nearly laughed. All he had to do was start walking towards Percy Weasley and the kid freaked out and went all "Evil Prefect Robot Here to Enforce the Mother Rule of ORDER." It would have been frightening if it were not for the fact that it was Weasley, with his bright red hair and horn rimmed glasses. He looked the perfect muggle... what was the word they used? Geek, or something like that. He looked completely and totally harmless, even with the severe, stern expression etched in his face. It was practically comical.

"Eya there, Weasley," Adrian drawled, letting loose the wink that naturally came with proper Pucey greetings. "Off correcting those galavanting ickle second years? I hear that lack of a tie causes death and destruction and immediate sentencing to the netherworld of the Snape's underdrawers! It's really rather good of you to watch out for the poor chaps." Adrian had absolutely no idea what was coming out of his mouth, but it was not of much concern to him. The poor kid would probably be so stunned by Adrian's lack of a formal sentence structure that what he was saying would not even register. It was so much fun teasing prefects who took their job just a bit too seriously.

Percy blinked. After, "Eya there, Weasley," which was normal, if not exactly a proper or respectful way to address a prefect, he had become increasingly lost in whatever the Slytherin had managed to say. He caught a mention of Snape, which he supposed was average for someone in his house, and a mention of underdrawers, which wasn't average for anyone and distinctly set Percy's teeth on edge. He was no stranger to the tone people took when they were mocking him.

"Were you in need of some sort of assistance, Pucey? I was under the impression that seventh year Slytherins would be in-," he paused to scan his mental copy of the timetables for the day, "NEWT Transfiguration. That would put me under the impression that you are, as they say, skiving." He quirked one eyebrow questioningly, arms crossed against his chest defensively.

"Some assistance, Sergeant Lord Royal Highness Prefect, Sir, would be absolutely brilliant. What kind of assistance do you suggest? I could show you around my room--you seem to have amazing abilities for cleanliness and order and all that nonsense. Maybe you would like to help me make my bed? It's particularly rumpled right now. It's been a busy week." Adrian let loose another wink. He noticed Percy's defensive, "authoritative" stance, and he decided that this needed to be rectified. He decided to do something absolutely insane--he grabbed at Percy's tie and loosened it a bit, knowing that the kid would be too stunned to react in time.

"Transfiguration? Blow-off class. We're revising right now. I've read through the bloody book. I think I can handle what we're doing right now. Good of you to be concerned about my grades, though. I'm glad to see you doing your job." He took on an authoritative persona of his own. "If you were seen neglecting your job for one minute, young man, you would be strung up by your entrails from the highest tower of Hogwarts." He looked around the hallway and whispered in Percy's ear, "Although, I hear it's haunted. The good old ghoulies would get you first." Adrian checked his watch. "Anywho, I think I'm going to be off now. Places to be and other horrible rulebreakers and skivers to meet, eh? Toodle-oo."

With wide eyes, Percy quickly acknowledged the fact that Pucey clearly had no sense of propriety whatsoever. To suggest that he should visit the Slytherin dormitory...and then, before his own eyes, to reach out and touch him, as if there weren't a clear area of personal space being violated. Sputtering uselessly, he balled his fists at his side and resolved to bear the rest of the boy's ramble. The words were lost on his ears, which immediately flushed a bright red when Pucey committed an even more egregious act of invasion by leaning in to whisper almost conspiratorially. By the time he'd recovered from the shock, he was standing alone in the corridor, abandoned.

Though the hall was still bustling with students, Percy was utterly oblivious to the pair of fourth years who had broken into a small scuffle, or the snogging couple who had retreated behind a tapestry for privacy. His hands wandered feebly up to set his tie straight again and his head cleared a bit almost immediately. Restoring order always calmed the panic. Shaking his head, he finally noticed the fighting Hufflepuffs, who had gone from a mere disagreement to a full on brawl complete with spectators. "Troublemakers," he muttered, not sure who he was actually talking about, before he marched over to separate them.

Adrian shook his head, trying not to laugh. After he walked away, he snuck behind the pillar near where prefect Percy was on a stakeout for troublemakers. He watched Percy stand there, completely shellshocked. It was very amusing watching him stare at the air around him, mouth gaping, while troublemakers made trouble around him. He barely even seemed to notice. Adrian grinned. If something as simple as human contact and an off-kilter tie freaked Weasley out, imagine what havoc he could wreak on that kid's brain, given enough time! This was going to be so much fun.

Percy-stalking was fun.

Splitting up the underclassmen (or rather, keeping them split) had taken far longer than it would have usually. Percy, for once, felt less than competent at his job, and he quickly shifted the blame to the rogue Slytherin who had decided to inappropriately harass him in the halls when he was clearly on duty. Even so, it was his responsibility to keep order and no excuse could keep him from that. After making sure the hall was clear of any hazards, skivers, or dress code violations, Percy took one last look over his shoulder as he moved on to the next section of his patrol. Unfortunately, this kept him from watching where he was going, and he turned fiercely red when he realized he'd knocked firmly into Pucey.

"You should watch where you're going around a prefect, Mr. Pucey. I am far more important things to do than go knocking about with someone like yourself." He straightened his robes and moved to head off down the hall again.

Adrian was thinking thinky thoughts when he next ran into Percy Weasley. He did not intentionally bowl him over, of course. Not this time. Adrian much preferred to drop in more discreetly, although he did not mind a chance encounter when the mood struck him. However, although the method was not to his taste, seeing Weasley's face turn an alarming shade of red made the entire experience worth it.

Adrian recovered quickly, and Weasley rushed to regain his sense of propriety. Adrian had to smirk as Weasley's face became comically serious. He secretly wondered if their past encounter had strengthened the redhead's resolve to become even more ludicrous than usual, as if to prove that a mere Slytherin had not thrown Young Master Prefect off his game.

"Oh, but Perce," Adrian started dramatically, bestowing a nickname upon Weasley without really thinking. "Didn't you know, I become hopelessly lost around you! How am I to watch where I'm going when all I can see is you, with your bright eyes and freckly face and flaming hair?" Adrian stopped for a second, as if pondering the meaning of life, false passion present in his eyes. He was probably thoroughly freaking Weasley out now, he decided with some amount of satisfaction. He leaned in closely to Weasley's face, putting his hand below the prefect's chin. He tilted his head so that he could examine Weasley's eyes.

"I s'pose I should just follow you around for a while," he continued, skipping along as Weasley stalked down the hall. Adrian returned to his normal tone of voice, and quickly declared, "You seem to know where you're going. Maybe watching you scurry about will help me be more proper, or whatever that nonsense is. What do you say? I think it's a brilliant plan."

Adrian beamed.
