| An English assignment. We had to write down everything we did in one day and then write something up on it. Here is my crappy result.
A Day in the Life of Kathryn
Woke up early. Light sleeper. Comfort day. Favorite jeans. Strawberry frosted mini-wheats eaten in reassuring solitude. Brush teeth. Pack book bag. Carpool’s here—out the door. Long drive. Time to sleep. (Could not find the time last night). Get to school. Study with friends. Go to class. Cyber-bullying lecture in theology. People can behave appallingly online. Bell rings. Homeroom blurs by. Off to English. Discussing more human cruelty. Contact time. Journalism notes for tomorrow. Academic Challenge means missing class. Late to lunch. Liz and Sarah already eating. Finish quickly. Ten minutes left to kill. Pay Mr. Stein’s room a visit. Politics class. Student teacher. Congress. Dum-dum lollipops and returned tests. Humming School House Rock songs. “I’m just a bill, yes I’m only a bill, and I’m sitting here on Capitol Hill.” Forensics last, DNA, bored stiff. Learned this all in genetics. Class ends. Meet carpool. Head home. Flurrying. Again. Wish it would stop. Discussion of Superbowl, zombies, and Guns ‘N Roses with carpool. Get home. Get the mail. Ditch the heavy backpack and restricting shoes. Check the answering machine. Turn up the thermostat. Put my lunchbox away. No one else is home, of course. Cup of hot chocolate to finish the routine. Put on pajamas. Watch Easy A (lent by Liz). Read about Shukhov. Open door for brother. Answer call from Dad. Finish the movie. In walks Mom. Internet not working downstairs. Relocate to my parent’s room to work on forensics. Receive Facebook notification for tagged Father Daughter pictures. Discover exclusion from ice skating expedition from the day before. Nothing new. Living forever away from everyone else has its disadvantages. Turn on the record player. In the mood for listening to The White Album. Nostalgia for an unknown, different past. Dad home. Dinner. Back to homework. Finish forensics, instant message with Rachel. The parents always hog the phone when she calls. Email from an old friend. Automatic for the People. Spanish nearly causing a headache. Time to take a break.
Shower. Fresh pineapple in the fridge. Finish reading Fruits Basket, my brief foray into the world of manga. Inspired by Rachel, of course. White Blood Cells by The White Stripes. Jim pops in to say goodnight. Kicked out of the parents’ room (they go to bed far earlier than I can). Desire to learn Japanese greatly increasing. Desire to finish Spanish essay greatly decreasing. Do it anyway. Time for bed (11:00). Will get a full 7.25 hours of sleep. Print out Spanish. Put computer away. Jot down reminders in red notebook. Brush teeth. Quickly fall asleep. Rinse and repeat.

| A random poem invented while cleaning my room and putting away an old glass suncatcher I painted in the shape of a cross.
