Everybody Get Dangerous

She snorted at him, and pulled herself out of his arm. "You aren't nearly as interesting as you give yourself credit for William," she said, the corner of her mouth twitching into a smile. She glanced sideways at him, and rolled her eyes. "I don't think so, I'd have to resurface for food wouldn't I? And food is a difficult thing to smuggle into the library."

"I'm so, very interesting," Will protested, managing to sound self-assured and not defensive in the slightest. "We both know I'm terribly interesting. After all, you lot keep me around, don't you? Or, I keep you around, rather. I mean, with me being the leaderly one and all..." Will poked Renee teasingly in the side, enjoying the small smile that he had managed to pull out of her. "Besides, if anyone could figure out a way to smuggle food into the library, so you can live there, it would be you, you silly goose."

"You are most certainly not interesting. The only reason you're still around is because I can't quite seem to get rid of you. If you have any hints about how I can successfully do that, it'd be much appreciated. And then perhaps I can get some piece and quiet for the first time in years," she made a face and swotted at his hand. "Don't poke," she said, sounding slightly grumpy. "And I've managed it a few times, but it puts her in a bad mood. Librarians are already irritable enough without making them worse."

"Oh, you can't get rid of me," Will said cheerfully, dodging Renee's hands and poking her again. "It'd probably be better for you if you just gave up now and accepted that I'm wonderful and you'll never want to get rid of me, ever." Will looked at the table. "Do you need any help putting stuff away? I really want to get outside sometime before the sun goes down and the monsters come out."

"Be nice if I could," she muttered, and angrily swotted at his hand again. "Stop it," she snapped at him turning back to the bag that was was packing. Shoving the last few things in, she slung it over her shoulder. "Scared of the monsters are you?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

An enormous grin lit up Will's face. "Monsters don't scare me, unless you're talking crazy ex variety of monsters, and those are absolutely terrifying. No one should have to deal with those." Since Renee appeared to be all packed up, Will moved towards the exit. "So, Frenchie, how long has it been since you've seen the sun?"

"Well I wouldn't know about that," she said, following William out of the library and down the hallway, having not had an ex. (Did we decide Renee/Celeste is a thing now? Or... /horrible memory.) "I went for a walk yesterday," she answered. "Or..." she scrunched up her face thinking. "The day before actually. I went walking before breakfast," she nodded. She'd woken up and hadn't been able to get back to sleep, so had gone to sit outside for a little while.

Will made a small noise in the back of his throat that somewhat resembled a snort. "Be glad. Exes are monsters. Though, you know, you and your little French girl seem to be doing well, right? So maybe you'll avoid the ex pitfall. You'd think she'd get you out into the sun, more, though. Going on a walk once definitely doesn't count. I fully expect to get you nice and sunburnt, okay? Then, you won't be able to sit still long enough to study, since your skin will be sore and peeling." Naturally, that wasn't really Will's plan, or he wouldn't have told it to her, but he really wanted to see the look she gave him when he told her.

"Doing alright doesn't mean we'll stay alright," she pointed out to him. It working now didn't mean that they would always, that things would be perfect. "I spend a lot of time outside in France, you know that, we didn't go inside much when you came to visit," she glanced sideways at him with narrowed eyes. "If I get burnt William, you are going to get hexed so badly you won't be able to sit still either. Not that you ever do."

Will frowned, and it made him look almost serious for a moment. "Are you and Frenchie Two not doing okay? Or, like, are you worried about how you're going to do in the future? Then again, I can't really seem to keep a relationship steady with someone that lives in the same castle as me. I can't imagine trying to manage one with someone not even living in your own country half the time." Will rolled his eyes are Renee's threat. "Everyone knows Madame Pomfrey can fix sunburn up in like... two seconds flat. Hell, even I could probably manage to fix your sunburn, and I'm rubbish at that kind of magic."

"Celeste has a name Will," which she knew Will knew, because occasionally he did call her by her actual name. "And we are doing fine, though considering I haven't seen her in a while, it makes things difficult." She gave him a wary look. "I'm not letting you wave your wand anywhere near me, thanks. I'd rather not take my chances."

Will sighed. "I know her name, but calling her Frenchie Two is more fun, of course. What's life without awful nicknames? Nothing. Boring. Not worth living." Will knew he was being melodramatic, but that was fun, also. "But... you'll make it work, I think. She makes Izzy seem lacking in determination. And, hey! I wave my wand around you every single day, and you haven't died yet!"

Renee rolled her eyes at his dramatics. "If you say so Gryffindor," she said with an amused shake of her head. She smiled faintly thinking of Celeste, though there was always that worry, because they only saw each other very rarely and it was hard. "She is very determined," she said with a firm nod. "Yet being the key word there William, with the way you wave it around it's bound to happen."

Will couldn't help but poke at Renee's small, fond smile. "You two are sickening, aren't you? One of these days, you'll have adorable little French babies that will run around and give everyone headaches with their stubbornness. And, oi! I'm not going to kill you. I don't kill friends, silly. Now, if you were a Marauder...."

"I don't think I'll be having children anytime soon," she said. Any time soon at all. Not until she was long out of school, and she had no idea whether she would still be with Celeste by then. She somewhat doubted it. "Please kill the marauders," she said wrinkling her nose. "You'll be doing the world a favour." Insufferable boys.

"Children are terrible," Will agreed firmly. "I can't imagine why anyone would want them. My mother's been getting on my back lately because I haven't had any yet, and I had to remind her I was still in school and didn't want to deal with little people with too many bodily fluids pouring out of them all the time. She was appalled." Will grinned at that. "And I think I'd let Remus live, but the others would have to go."

"They can be at times," she agreed. "Xavier is an absolute pest at times," though other times he was an adorable little boy. Though who grew in leaps and bounds because she saw him so rarely. "I don't think my parents would be too impressed if I had children now, so we'll avoid that one." She made a thoughtful noise. "I suppose we can let Remus stay, he'd be okay without the others around."

Will snorts. "I don't know that I'm ever having kids. That's what my parents want from me, after all, and I wouldn't be Will Devlin if I didn't have fun laughing at what they expect. Besides, kids are messy and awful and I don't know why anyone would want one. Then again, it's different for you women people. You're the ones who actually have to birth the little things. It like, ruins your life and shit, but you've got all those attachment hormones."

Renee raised an eyebrow at him. "If you keep doing what people don't want you to do you'll end up not doing what you want to," she fiddled with the strap of her bag. "I might," she mused. "In the far future. But I don't know."

"But I know what I want, you know, and if what I want and what the other person wants line up, I'm not going to be a moron. When what the other person wants is going to make me miserable, though, you can bet I'm not going to go along with what they want. I'm not looking for kids. If I end up settling down someday and my partner wants one, I'll consider whether it matches up with what I want. Otherwise, I don't see the point. That's your decision to make, too, though. There are a lot more factors for you, like your career and all." The two of them walked out into the sunlight, and Will stretched his arms out. "See, Renee? This is called sunlight!"
