Running to Stand Still

"Cause I don't want to talk first?"

Cor sighed. "You don't trust me. That's all. It's obvious."

"Isn't that obvious? I don't really know you you know."

Cor rolled his eyes. "What grounds do you have NOT to trust me by? You may not know very well now, but I'm going to be hanging around, and how do you get to know someone except by talking?"

Lesley narrowed her eyes and sighed. "I've probably talked to you about a dozen times in the past however many years, I'm not about to go around and tell you whatever pops into my mind."

"Think about it, though. In all that time, have I ever done anything to hurt you? Why would I start now?"

"That's generally not the best grounds to trust someone. I've hardly talked to you. So you wouldn't have had much chance would you?"

Cor shrugged. "If I wanted to hurt you, I'd have already done it. I'm not the type to beat around the bush."

"I can see that," Les murmured.

Cor grinned. "There's no reason you should not trust me. Or at least play along?"

Les shook her head. "Nup," She said. "You'll just have to wait until I decide to trust you."

Cor sighed. "Whatever, then. I suppose I can be patient every once in a while."

"Hm," Les muttered, not sure what else to say.

"Hm," Corey replied. "Hm hm hm hm hm."

"I think I'm okay now," Les said softly.

Cor grimaced. "Okay. Do you want to go back to class?"

Les nodded. "Yeah."

Cor put back his cocky grin. "Let's do this, then."

Les gave him an odd look and set off back in the direction of the classroom.

Cor shook his head, grinning. She really was impossible.

"I wonder how much longer of class we have," Les murmured.

Cor checked his watch. "Not too terribly long. I think another ten minutes or so."

Les nodded. "Okay," She said.

Cor grinned. "Are you sure you don't want to skip the end?"

Les shrugged. "I guess so," She said. "Now much point.."
