Laurie, Nicole, and Sev (3rd POV)

Cassie laughed. "You need to ask your mum that." She smiled. "Everyone finished?"

"Yep." Laurie said pushing her plate in front of her.

"No." Sev said looking at his empty plate. "Im still hungry."

Laurie rolled her eyes. "Your always hungry Sev." She got up and put her plate in the sink. "Now what?"

"Fine. I'll ask her when she shows up later," Nicole said with a sad look at Cassie.

Then she got up and put her plate in the sink with Laurie's.

"There really isn't much to do is there?" Nicole replied to Laurie. "We could...um...I have no clue. But I don't want to go back outside. Oh! My mum gave me her old chess set the other day. It's in my bag. We could play?"

Laurie beamed. "Love too. Mum's chess peices seem to dislike both herr so we don't play chess often. Though they do work well for me"

Cassie laughed. "And Lyssa's chess peices don't like me, I think Chess doesn't like me in general." She made Severus another sandwhich and he ate it quickly then darted off to his room to play with his toys.

"Mummy." Wailed Severus from upstairs.

Cassie sighed and went after him.

Nicole went to her bag, which was in the living room and dug around inside until she pulled out all the chess stuff.

Then she started setting it up on the coffee table in front of the couch. "I call white," she said, sitting on the side of the table where the white pieces were.

"Fine." Laurie complained. She liked being white.

Laurie watched the peices set themselves up, none of them managed to bump into eachother a feat Laurie's chess pieces failed at. They usually ended up on the other side of room but godness knows why. Probably attempting to race eachother to the spots and running into eachother.

"Your chess pieces are too." I struggled to find the word. "I dont remember. Nevermind."

Nicole pouted. "I like my chess pieces. Are you saying you don't like them?"

She watched them set themselves up, smiling slightly.

Once they were done, she moved her first one and then waited for Laurie.

I smiled. "No, but they are too organised for chess peices in my opinion."

The game started. The peices argueed with Laurie with everything she did.

Cassie who had come to watch laughed, "Either Malfoy chess peices dont like this family, or they are offended from what you said at the begining."

Laurie frowned. "I'll be right back." She ran into her room and found her chess board, Gathering her black peices she went back downstairs and shoved Nicole's out of the way.

"I like my peices." She stated.

Nicole frowned at Laurie, but then laughed when her chess pieces started complaining.

"Sorry. They're slightly erm...well I suppose prejudice is a good word. The pieces all have a Malfoy sense to them, so if someone who's playing with them isn't either a Malfoy or a pureblood they don't like them. I don't know know how they can tell but they do."

She smiled at them innocently.

After Laurie's peices had resumed the peices that Nicole's had been in the game continued.

Laurie smiled ordering her peices around the board and even talking with them about matters that didn't really concern chess peices. Like the weather.

Cassie smiled watching them. "Chess peices never liked me, but then I had no patience for what they had to say." She shrugged.

"Agreed." Said Laurie's queen.

Laurie laughed.

Nicole laughed.

Then she sighed.

"I wish my mum was here already."

There was a pop in the kitchen and a blond head came around the corner. "Yes, Nicole?"

Nicole hopped up from where she was sitting.

"Maman! Puis-je avoir un bracelet comme Laurie's?" she said running up to her mum.

Lyssa laughed and said, "Pas de bonjour?"

"Désolé. Puis-je obtenir? S'il vous plaît?" Nicole pressed on.

"Oui. Dites-moi la prochaine fois que nous sortons, et je vais en acheter un et de certains charmes à aller avec elle," Lyssa said with a small laugh at her daughter's eagerness.

"D'accord! Merci maman!" Nicole hugged her mum tight.

"err...." Laurie said trying to understand what had been said. "English?"

Cassie laughed. She had studied french for a short period of time but gave up on it, she wasn't a languge person."Nicole asked for a bracelet and Lyssa said yes." She translated. She knew enough french to understand that much.

"Oh." Laurie said moving her chess piece and taking Nicole's bishop. "Cheak mate." She grinned.

"What?!" Nicole said spinning to the chess board. "Tricheur!"

She crossed her arms and sulked.

She hadn't won a thing today.

Lyssa out a hand on her head. "Be nice," she said.

"Mais maman," Nicole protested. "Elle a triché."

Lyssa shook her head. "She didn't."

Nicole pouted.

"Did not."Laurie replied telling her chess peices to go back to her room. She watched them jump of the stairs.

"Careful Mi doesn't get them Laurie." Cassie said also watching the peices.

"Wher is Mi, I havn't seen her all day." Laurie said frowning. "Mi? Mi?"

Cassie smiled. "Don't worry she'll be back and if she's not. I can always go looking for her later."

Laurie nodded still frowning.

After all the chess things were cleared up everyone settled in the living room, talking.

"My birthday is next week," Nicole was saying proudly. "I'm going to be 11! Too bad it's just a little too late to already start school."

"Then you'd be in the year above me." Laurie said. "Which would suck. My birthday's next year a month before school starts so I just make it really." She said. "I can't wait untill next year."

Sev bounded into the room flourishing a twig.

"Severus." Cassie warned. "What did I tell you?"

"Not too." Severus said shoving the stick in his pocket. "Sorry Mummy."

"You should be because you'll be cleaning the room without my help next time you magic accidently runs away with you."

Laurie had to shove her fist into her mouth. Her magic "ran away with her" all the time, but she sually made small trival things happen that Cassie didn't really norice.

Nicoles eyes widened. "I wouldn't want to be a year ahead of you Laur! Then I would only know my cousins there! That would be no fun!"

As the conversation progressed magic came up Nicole grinned to herself.

Lyssa smiled. "I don't want to know what's going to happen once that kid gets his own real wand when he's older. Most particularly before the year starts, since technically he could use it for lack of not knowing not to, although he should."

Nicole had to hide a smile at the idea.

Cassie smiled. "I'll put it away where he can't find it untill school starts."

"Not fair." Severus complained pouting.

Cassie laughed. "Severus you make enough trouble with a stick"

"What about me?" Laurie asked.

"We'll see."

"Mum," Nicole said, "what about me?"

Lyssa gave her stern look. "You know what would happen if you used it before you were supposed to, so I'm going to trust you not to use it when the time comes."

Nicole nodded at her. The clock in the room chimed on the hour.

"Is it time to eat yet?" Nicole asked. "I'm hungry, and it's like 6."

"Do you want to stay for Dinner?" Cassie asked standing up.

She walked into the kitchen and opened the frige.

"You know, I cant be stuffed making it tonight. She waved her wand and dinner started to make itself.

"well that was hopefully the plan when I showed up," Lyssa said.

She yawned. "Stupid work," she muttered.

Nicole smiled at her mum. "Just admit you don't like getting up early either," she said.

Cassie smiled. "Work can be a pain sometimes but I enjoy it. Even if it spazzes my sleeping pattern."

"Im hungry." Sev said.

"Your always hungry." Laurie said.

"Shut up."

"Severus." Cassie disaproved. "Laurie did you teach him that?"

"Maybe." Laurie smiled innocently.

"Sev, être gentil," Nicole said to him, laughing at little at his confused face. "Else I'll say more stuff in French, silly boy."

She smiled at him.

"But Laurie started it." Severus complained.

"Did not." Laurie replied.

"Did."

"Not."

"Guys, shut it." Cassie said.

"Mummy said shut it." Severus said pouting.

Laurie rolled her eyes at her younger brother.

"Your mum's a grown-up Severus," Lyssa said to him.

"Calme vous deux. Ma tête fait mal," Nicole went on to comment, frowning. "I'm glad I'm an only child."

"I'd like to be." Laurie muttered. "And you realise Nicole no-one cept Lyssa and sometimes mum understands you when you talk french."

"Hey." Severus complained.

"Both of you." Cassie said. "Be quiet, or you wont get dessert."

Severus poked his tounge and Laurie who hit him on the head.

"Laurie! Don't hit your brother."

"He provocted me!."

"Both of you, go to your room until dinner."
