Changing World

Cassie and Lyssa were hanging out in diagon ally, at Florean Fortescue. Cassie was eating a chocolate chip ice cream, watching the people as they walked past. It was nearing the start of the school term, and the students were around the place, getting the books they needed and all of that jizz. Despite all that had happened Cassie was somewhat sad not to be doing back to Hogwarts it was a marvelous place. Though in a way, she didn't really want to go back, Cassie was already studying extra because she had failed her newts. And she was somewhat working on her muggle stuff.

Lyssa sat in the chair outside Florean's, daintily and expertly eating a plain vanilla ice cream cone. She had been taught at a young age how to keep it from getting all over your fingers and face. She looked around at all the little children running around excitedly for their first year of school, and the older students begrudgingly getting their books. It nearly made her sad to be done with Hogwarts. Observing the people for another moment she said, "You can tell so easily which firsties are Mudbloods. They all look hopelessly confused and overwhelmed."

Cassie blinked looking at her freind. "Lyssa," She said aghast that the girl had even said that word, let alone using it in reference to people who were walking past. She licked her icecream, chocolate running down the cone and all over her fingers. She licked it off her fingers. Cassie made a right mess when she ate icecream.

Lyssa stopped her people watching and looked over at Cassie, carefully avoiding an ice cream drip as she did so. "What?" she asked, not understanding the girl's tone or reaction. She bit off a little from the top of her ice cream as she continued to look at Cassie.

Cassie spilt a whole drop of icecream on her shoe, she kicked her foot, trying to get the drop onto the floor. "You," Cassie said licking her icecream and than rubbing at her face as she got icecream on her cheek. "just said, you know, the m word."

"The M-word...?" Lyssa said, looking confused for a moment, as she didn't know what the M-word was supposed to be referring to. Then she got it and her mouth formed a little o shape. "Oh," she said aloud.

Cassie looked at Lyssa while she continued to eat her icecream. Biting down on the cone, not being able to get to the rest of the icecream. The cone was becoming soft at this point. "Why'd you say it?"

Lyssa shrugged her shoulders for a second, licking at her ice cream, having not even gotten down to the cone part yet. "I dunno," she replied. "I guess it just sort of happen? Like when a little kid repeats a swear word by accident."

Cassie looked at Lyssa for a moment, than let it drop, she didn't want to get into an arguement right than. "Want to go to Florish and Blott's once we're done? I want to get a few books."

Lyssa frowned for a moment at getting immersed in the large throng of people shopping, especially near the younger children, but she said, "I guess so."

The two finished their icecreams, or well, Cassie finished hers and than waited a while for Lyssa. "You take forever to eat icecreams," Cassie said as they made their way to the book shop.

"Oh, shut up. It's not my fault that I was raised with manners," Lyssa said, already grumpy from being around the mass of people moving about. They kept bumping into her...

"I have manners," Cassie said grumpily back. "I just don't see what the big deal about eating icecreams without making a little mess is anyway. It's only icecream."

"It's sticky and it makes a right awful mess," Lyssa said, rolling her eyes as some kid bumped her. She looked at the kid scornfully, which made them scurry along quickly.

Cassie watched the kid scurry off with a slight frown. She shrugged at Lyssa.

The two finally reached the book shop and walked in. It was crowded as well, which caused Lyssa to scowl. She really didn't want to walk around getting pushed from all odd angles by strangers. "Get what you need so we can get out," she said to Cassie, moving over to a mostly secluded area.

Cassie nodded at her, heading off to the shelves, she grabbed the few books that she wanted, and than went to a different section to get a book for just pleasureable reading instead of studying. Though Cassie prefered the muggle books for that but she decided to grab a magical one. She headed over to where Lyssa was, after buying the books. "Come On Lyss,"

Lyssa was leaned against the wall when Cassie finally showed back up. "Well that certainly took long enough," she said as the two of them left the shop.

Cassie looked at Lyssa. "What's up? You're in a bad mood today."

"I really hate crowds," Lyssa said, although her mind told her there was more to it than that.

"You're not always like this in crowds though," Cassie said as they made their way around a bunch of children, who looked as if they were going into their first year.

Lyssa shrugged. "This crowd just really bothers me then."

"Why?"

Lyssa was quiet for a moment, biting back her real answer. Because all the little, running Mudbloods keep bumping into me. Instead she said, "I don't bloody know."

"Hmm," Cassie said with a slight frown. It was one of the ally's busier days.
