In A Fight With The World

Lyssa sat in the corner, as was usual, knees pulled up to her chest and arms wrapped around them, trying to get just a little warmer. Winter had fully set in just a few days ago and the little prison island in the middle of the sea was freezing cold even on the days when the sun was shining through the thick overhanging clouds that always seemed to be present. As she exhaled, Lyssa could see her breathe in wispy clouds in front of her and she fought against her teeth wanting to chatter. She just felt miserable overall.

Her face was hidden in her knees when she heard the creak of the door as it opened, so Lyss lifted up her head to see who it was. "H-hey Cass," she said, shivering as a new rush of cold met her face from looking up. Her knees had kept it a little warmer than the rest of her.

Cassie walked through Azkaban shivering, though less from the cold than the errie feeling that she always got when at Azkaban. She pulled her awesome Audentia cloak around her, staring straight ahead. Though her eyes always flitted to the cells as she walked past them.

"Hey," She said entering Lyssa's cell and wanted to walk back out and punch the Ministry escourt in the face. Who was standing at the edge of the cell. She did not like the way that Lyssa was treated, but to be fair, they weren't going to be nice to criminals.

"Lovely weather for swimming wouldn't you say?" Cassie asked, she had thought of an idea the earlier day. She doubted it would work, but thought that it was worth the shot. Only problem was, she couldn't say it with the gaurd there.

Lyssa laughed wryly. "Only if you have a death wish or want hypothermia, which I might already have..." she responded, wondering what the hell Cassie was going on about. She shivered harder just at the thought, suddenly jealous that Cassie had a cloak to wrap around her.

"Here," Cassie pulled her cloak off and gave it to Lyssa. "You look like you need it more than I do." She ran a hand through her hair. "Animals seem to be enjoying the weather at least, saw some swimming when I went past the lake the other day. Be nice to be an animal. You wouldn't need to conform to human and magical rules." She twirled her hair around her finger.

Lyssa was about to protest Cassie handing her the cloak, but knew she would just lose that fight, and so wrapped it around her shoulders, marveling at the warmth it immediately brought. "Thanks," she whispered, listening as Cassie went on about animals. "Those must be some crazy animals." She thought she might know what Cassie was going on about, but she didn't trust her mind enough at the moment to be sure.

"Crazy maybe," Cassie said with a shrug. Wondering what on earth the gaurd was thinking. "Maybe it makes them feel free though? Because it isn't normal to swim in that weather, and they do it to surprise people." Cassie shrugged. "Pity you can't swim here, you had fun swimming once you decided to let me teach you. Not that it really came in much use."

Lyssa shrugged. "Animals do crazy things," she commented, sure that her mind wasn't being funny now. "And you know swimming came in handy in the summers, because then I wasn't stuck in the shallow water."

"True," Cassie said wondering if Lyssa got what she was trying to say yet.

"So, what sorts of animals did you see swimming?" Lyssa asked, acting curious.

"Ducks, dogs," Cassie shrugged. Then looked at Lyssa. "I swear I saw a fox, but you never know, my eyes could have been fooling me."

"Well, foxes are notorious for being odd little creatures. You never know what they might do. You could have very well seen one swimming."

"Maybe I will in the near future?" Cassie said.

Lyssa shrugged. "Never know what you'll see, but you very well might just see another one soon. It would just go to prove that you weren't seeing things."

"I hope I do," Cassie said with a sad smile. The two talked for a bit longer, and the person told Cassie it was time to go. She frowned slightly. "Okay."

When the guard person said it was time for Cassie to go Lyssa frowned. She had been somewhat enjoying all the coded talk. It made for something interesting. She sighed slightly, and made to give Cassie her cloak back. Lyss had stopped shivering by now after all, and soon Cassie would be outside and need it. Plus, it wasn't hers to keep.

Cassie shook her head at the cloak. "Keep it, I'll just get a new cloak at home." She had quite liked that cloak but Lyssa really did need it more than she did.

Lyssa shook her head. "It's nice. It'd be a shame if it got dirty. I can live without, have been already after all."

"Lyssa it's a cloak, and it's bloody freezing." Cassie frowned looking at the cloak. She got her wand out, looking at the gaurd who was watching her warily. "Oh look, I remembered how to do it." Cassie threw Lyssa a duplicate of the cloak. Not quite as nice as the one Cassie was holding. But somewhat decent.

Lyssa gave Cassie a minuscule smile. She could live with this compromise. "I'll see you again sometime soon, right?" she asked as she wrapped up in the duplicate cloak, not liking the unpleasant cold that had appeared at the removal of the other one.

"Yep," Cassie said. "Miss Evans," The gaurd said. "Oh hold your horses, I'll only be a minute." She hugged Lyssa. "Maybe I'll see a swimming fox sometime soon." She said quietly following the irritared gaurd out.

Lyssa hugged Cassie back, frowning slightly. "Hopefully," Lyssa agreed about the fox, inwardly wondering how to pull that off.

Cassie pulled her cloak around her, leaving Azkaban. It was warmer back in the city at least. Still cold but warmer.

Lyssa had to wait a couple days at the most before she did anything, and also to plot out just what she would do. Sure, in theory it was simple. Slip out the door as a fox the next time it opened and run like hell, but there was the chance she'd get lost in the labyrinth of cells, so she'd have to be careful as she ran. Plus, the guards would be trying to catch, leaving her to dodge them as well. Then she had to swim to shore. All in all, simple and straightforward, but also risky.

Cassie got to her crappy little apartment. Walking past the couple next door who never stopped shouting at eachother. She unlocked the door coming inside, she had a kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom. All of which were pretty damn small. But Cassie had wanted to move out of home, she loved her family yeah, but they drove her nuts. And this small dingy apartment was all she could afford.

So, Lyssa executed her plan, and at first the guard guy seemed to stunned to do anything but stand there and gawk like an idiot, so by the time they got around to doing anything she had disappeared from sight and was amazingly not getting lost. She reached the exit and slipped out, ready to swim to shore, which looked a long ways away from where she currently was. And so, some time later, Lyssa, still as a fox, was sprawled out under a dock on a shore, resting up some before going to find Cassie, which would be hard, since she didn't know where Cassie was.
