In A Fight With The World

"Well....we could always sneak....and you have a wand...." Lyssa muttered, knowing how stupid it all sounded.

"Lyssa, think about that, me verses a wand maker. And sneaking in wouldn't work. bah." Cassie sighed jabbing at a chess peice.

"I know..." Lyssa said. "I just....I really miss magic."

"Merry Christmas," Cassie said passing Lyssa her wand. "Don't lose it."

Lyssa blinked at the wand for a moment, then looked back at Cassie, as if asking if she was serious.

"Lyssa, you know me, and you'd probably prefer it more than I do."

"But..." Lyssa started to protest, wrapping her fingers around the wand's handle, which stopped her from saying more.

Cassie looked at her wand for a moment, before turning back to the chess board.

Lyssa looked at the wand for a moment, then set it down on the table, frowning at it.

Cassie shrugged, the two continued to play.

They played for a little while, before looked out the window that she was facing. "Did you hear that?" she asked, watching the window warily. "I think there's someone out there."

Cassie froze, trying to listen, she wished she had her cat senses to listen.

Lyssa got up from where she was sitting and walked quietly over to the window, peeking passed the thin curtain hanging over it. "Shit, I see someone."

Cassie swore. "Stupid fricken wards."

"What about the wards?" Lyssa asked, setting the curtain back in place. "Maybe they'll leave if they don't think we're here."

"The wards let them in. Well, how do you suppose we get out without alerting them to our presence?"

"I didn't say a thing about getting out. We just have to make this place seem un-lived-in and uninhabited."

"Okay," She looked warily to the window. "We probably have about ten seconds to do that."

"Well then..." Lyssa muttered. "Get rid of the chess set first of all. The rest looks pretty untouched. And then we should split up, transform, and hide."

"Your the one with the wand," Cassie hissed hearing the front door open.

"It's your wand. It'll work better for you."

"Yeah, but you'd be better with it," Cassie said grabbing her wand and trying to vanish the chess set. "Oh that worked." She hissed quietly half of the chess set.

"Oh, give me the thing," Lyssa said, grabbing the wand and getting rid of the chess set entirely. "Now hide."

Though before they had a chance to even turn into animals there were ministry people in the room.

Lyssa swore under her breath, looking at the ministry people.
