In A Fight With The World

Cassie nodded. She turned back into human self, wishing that she had the same reflexes and sight human as she did cat.

Lyssa turned back to being a human as well, making a face as she did so, not really enjoying the dimming of her senses or the way things seemed to change size.

Cassie held her hand out to Lyssa, to apperatethem both to her aunts.

And so they apparated there.

Cassie entered the wards, once they both inside, she set about tightening them as best she could.

Lyssa looked at the house. "Way better than dirt," she commented.

"Yeah," Cassie said looking at it. She hadn't been here in quite a while. "My aunt was pretty good with magic," She said as they entered. "She used to use it a bit as well, unlike mum and me who'd prefer not to."

"Is there anything to eat inside you think?" Lyssa asked as they walked towards the front door of the house. "And I really need to figure out a way to get my hands on a wand..."

"There'll be unperishible stuff, biscuits and that sort of crap." Cassie opened the front door, smiling as she entered. She'd always liked visiting her aunt, though before she was eleven she never did. her aunt visited them, but never the other way around. Later Cassie found out was because the her aunt used magic a lot in the way she ran her house. Lizzie had visited once after Cassie was expected into Hogwarts but didn't visit again. Lizzie was an odd one when it came to magic.

"Any sort of edible crap is good right now," Lyssa said. She was famished and just wanted something to eat. Yes, she'd eaten at Sam's not all that long ago, but even that hadn't filled her up, stomach completely empty at the time from all of her exercising (the swimming and the walking) and they hadn't been at Cassie's long enough for her to get anything, which made it nearly two-ish days before she'd eaten anything at all.

Cassie walked into the kitchen, tapping the cardboard with her wand so it opened. "She fast locked them with magic," Cassie explained pulling the crap out. "She did it the first time me and Liz were here, after we raided the cardboard of nice food, and then just left it." Cassie shrugged opening a packet of something.

Lyssa laughed momentarily, grabbing something to eat as well, glad there was food and glad there was now a roof over her head.

After eating Cassie leaned back in the chair she was sitting on. "I didn't visit this place enough for my liking," Cassie said. "Didn't see that much of my aunt either. Once or something a year."

"That's sort of sad. It was sweet of her to leave the house to you."

"Well who else was she going to give it to really? It's just about run by magic, couldn't give it to Lizzie who wouldn't want it, or be able to use half of the appliances and that. And no point giving it to mum, cause mum is about the same age and she didn't expect to die young."

Lyssa shrugged, finding herself caught in a yawn. "Now I vote for sleep time, since food time has passed."

"mmm," Cassie said with a nod. She got up, shutting the cabneint door without realizing. "Shouldn't have done that," She murmered walking out of the room. "Will just need to unlock it tomorrow." She stopped outside a room. "You can use this one if you want."

Lyssa nodded and said thanks, opening the door to the room and going inside.

A week or so passed, without nothing happening. And the girls had started to relax slightly.

"You know," Lyssa said as the two of them played chess on a board that Cassie had found, "the only bad thing about this house is that everything is locked with magic, so I can't open it without your help."

"Yeah," Cassie said with a nod, it did get somewhat tiresome and Cassie tried to leave all the doors and things open when she remembered. "I think my aunt was really the oposite of my mum, prefering to flaunt her magic rather than hardly use it." She sighed at the chess peice. "MOVE YOU STUPID PEICE OF WOOD." The chess peice, if it had a face, would have given her a rather odd look.

Lyssa sighed and moved a piece physically. "I want a wand," she said, sounding casual with a hint of longing in her tone. "I haven't done any magic in 8 months, nearly 9. That's almost a year."

"I don't know how we're going to get you one though," Cassie said with a frown.

Lyssa shrugged. "The likelihood of me ever having one again is slim to none right now, unless we threaten Mr.Ollivander that is."

"Which would not work, as we'd never get anywhere near him. And what are we going to threaten him with?"
