Brand New Day

Lyssa sat on her bed in the girls' dorm, looking around as all the others were packing up to go home for summer. She looked to the bed next to hers, where Cassie was digging under it for something or other. "You're coming to my place, right?" she asked, voice probably startling the girl since she'd been quiet most of the day. "At least for the first part of summer?" Lyss was already done packing, which is why she was just sitting around. Her stuff was never messy, so there wasn't much work to do with it.

Cassie was throwing her things rather messily into her case. Not bothering to do it neatly. As long as it all fitted that was good enough for her. Throwing a book across the room into it she looked up at Lyssa who was sitting down. "Yeah," She said taking the things out of her beside draw. "I am. Dunno how long for though. But yeah." She dumped more things in her case. Then crouched on the floor looking for things, if they'd gone under the bed or something.

Lyssa smiled slightly, leaning back on her bed where her legs were still hanging over the edge of it. "Well, that's good. It'd be horribly boring with just Draco there for company, since my parents...You know, they're busy and all." The students all left the next morning for home, so in only a matter of hours.

Cassie nodded. "Yeah," She said pulling a few loose socks and clothing and a book placing them into her case. "And while I love Lizzie, she can get tiresome sometimes." She looked around, making sure she had everything. "I need to see Emma sometime these holidays' aswell. I miss her. Okay, I think I'm packed." She threw her hairbrush into the case. Everything in it a mess and in no sort of order.

Lyssa leaned up to look at Cassie's trunk. "You could at least organize it," she said frowning. "Else you'll make a mess at the Manor..." Then she offered Cassie a smile that quickly turned into a frown again. Lyssa did NOT want to go home.

"I'm sure they can deal with a little mess," Cassie said pondering how to shut the lid, as reallywhen chucked in messily it didn't really work that well. 'It won't kill anyone." She pulled the lid shut on her case and leaning on it did up the clasps so it stayed shut. "There," She said getting up. "It all fits." She grinned somewhat. Catching Lyss' frown. "Don't worry, we'll have fun. Maybe I can push Draco into the pool again." She winked rougishly.

"Well, I don't know..." Lyssa muttered. "My father might not appreciate the mess. He's a very picky man with just about everything. Even when it comes to guests." She bit her lips slightly. "And let's not push Draco in the pool. Last time I got in trouble for that."

Cassie mock pouted at her freind. "It was funny though," She said taking the hairband off of her wrist and tieing her hair up. "Well if I need to I'll clean it up there, but I very well won't now. As I just put everything away and shut it. So yeah, I'm not opening it again."

Lyssa frowned. "It might have been funny for you, but I got scolded for..." She stopped, thinking how it had been phrased. "For not 'controlling my guest'. It wasn't a very nice scolding either." She fiddled with the hem of her shirt slightly, looking at Cassie.

Cassie couldn't help but snicker at that. Though she stopped quickly because Lyssa didn't look that amused. "I don't think they get that you 'controlling your guest' is not going to work when that guest is me." She shrugged lightly.

Lyssa shrugged. "I don't think they care who the guest is. It's the person who invited them over's responsibility to keep them in line and to follow the Manor rules and such. So, could you try for my sake?" She gave Cassie's a pleading look.

Quite a few hours later the girls were pulling their cases off of the train and onto the station. Getting jotled around by the crowd. "Ow!" Cassie exclaimed as someone bashed their case into her leg.

"Help me look for my parents," Lyssa said to Cassie, successfully managing to avoid hitting people or getting hit. "Or we'll be stuck here all day in this crowd." Plus, she wanted to get there before her brother for once.

It didn't take the girls that long till they spotted Lyssa's parents. They headed over. Cassie a few steps behind Lyssa. Truthfully, she was somewhat surprised that she had been invited back, as the last time she was there, she hadn't been the most wonderful of guests. Well, not to a Malfoy's standard anyway.

The two walked over to Lucius and Narcissa, and Lyssa was pleasantly surprised to not find Draco there yet. "Mother," she said in greeting. "Father."

"Mr. And Mrs. Malfoy," Cassie said with a slight nod as she arrived, a second after Lyssa. She always felt somewhat awkward around Lyssa's parents and she didn't like that feeling. Which was why, a lot of the time she mucked around, because it made her feel somewhat more comfortable.

A few moments later Draco showed up and greeted his parents as well. Then they all got set to head to the Manor. As soon as they got there, Draco headed up to his room to unpack from school. Lyssa hung back with Cassie, waiting to learn where her friend would be staying for the time she was there. "Cassandra," Narcissa said. "You will be in the same room from your last visit. Lyssa can show you if you don't remember."

Cassie nodded at her, and followed Lyssa out of the room and towards Lyssa's room and the room that Cassie was staying in. Which if I can remember are next to eachother? "Your house is too big," Cassie said as they walked. For some reason the girl was talking softly. She didn't know why.

Lyssa shrugged as they walked. "It's a manor. It's supposed to be big. Rich people have a lot of secrets after all," she replied. Then she pointed to the door next to hers (good memory :)). "That's your room."

Cassie nodded and shrugged. "I guess, it's weird though. Would have been a prefect place to play hide and seek though." She said, and nodded at the door. "Okay, see you in a bit I suppose?"

"Draco and I used to play hide and seek in the garden," Lyssa said with a fond smile. "It's like a maze out there." She stopped in front of her door. "Yeah, see ya."

Cassie pulled her case into the room she was staying in, and dropped it on the floor with a sligt bang, She undid the clamps and it popped open. She started to clear it somewhat, and put things places. But she coudn't get bothered. It took her all summer to unpack when she was home and there was no point unpacking it all now.

Lyssa went in her room and mechanically started to put things away. The room itself was already spotless as it was. Clothes in the closet, books on the shelf... Once everything was tucked away neatly, Lyssa pushed her trunk to the foot of her bed like a footstool.

With her belongings half put in places and half in her case Cassie plopped down on the bed. Travelling always made her tired, even though you hardly had to do anything but sit.

Once everything was away, Lyssa walked over to Cassie's room and knocked before walking in. "If you want something to eat, it's about lunch time," she said, standing in the doorway. "I mean, my family will be there, but food is food."
