Nix and Vinde

Phoenix and Vinde entered the great hall with a jumble or other students not talking much, they had nearly talked themselves out on the train and it was nice for it to be quiet even if they were surronded by other people chattering to freinds. "I wonder who the new Defence against the Dark Arts teacher is," Nix muttered as they took their spot at the Gryffindor table. "I hope it's a good one, and one who will last more then a year...but only if she or he's a good teacher." Nix stopped talking as her brother Orion (who also had a weird name) came over and talked to her for a little bit before going over to hang with Neville.

Vinde shrugged as she sat down, almost causing her to over balance and fall. "You know what would be awesome," she said. "If Professor Lupin came back. He was by far the best teacher for Defense we've ever had." Her eyes scanned the staff toble, since she could see it now that most everyone had sat down. "You don't think the new teacher is that pink thing do you?" she asked, looking at Nix, her eyebrow raised.

"That would be pretty cool," Nix agreed wondering how the first years coming over the lake in boats were going, When Vinde said something Nix looked up at the staff table and made a face. "It better not be," She made another face. "Hey, do you think Harry is telling the truth about Voldemort being back?" She asked Vinde. She found it stupid that people didn't say the name Voldemort. He has a fricken name, use it!

'I really hope it's not her," Vinde muttered under her breath before addressing Nix's question. "Well I mean...I don't really know. I'd like to think he's not back, since that would mean the Death Eaters would re-establish, but at the same time I think Harry's telling the truth. He wouldn't lie about something that serious...." She shook her head at the thought.

"Yeah, I'll I don't know. Throw her off a cliff or something?" Nix shrugged. "I'm not sure either, I believe Harry, my parents and Orion don't, they think he's being utterly stupid and trying to get attension." Nix rolled her eyes at her parents and brother and thrummed her fibngers on the table. "I'm hungry when are the first years getting here."

"The Prophet is only spreading those rumors and lies because everyone's afraid to think of what's going to happen if he really is back. It's easier for them to call Harry a liar, than to face the truth," Vinde said. "I've thought of the same things myself. I don't want to think about the prospective of him being back, because then there's likely going to be an uprise of the Death Eaters like I said before and that may or may not include my parents, and you know what complete nutters they are....But the reality is, he most likely is back..." And with that Vinde firmly told herself she was dropping the topic and instead went on to comment on the comment about first years Nix had made. "They take forever. You can only sail across a lake so fast I guess..."

"Well they can sail faster," Nix muttered after Vinde had her whole little mini rant, she looked up at the staff table agian. "That pink lady is the only new face." She said with a frown. "I think she is the new defence against the dark arts teacher." Nix made a face again. "She doesn't look nice either." In fact the old batty lady was looking at them like they were annoying five year olds.

"Well thanks for that lovely positive assessment of how Defense this year is going to be, Phoenix," Vinde said, using Nix's whole which she only did when she was being saracastic or something. Not just when they were talking. It was sort of like that with her older cousin too, since she hated the name Nymphadora.

Nix smiled slightly. "No problem, and you know I don't exactly dislike the name, it's not it's just slightly odd and I don't know if it suits me. But then I prefer my name than Orions." She glanced down the table at her brother.

"Orion sounds like it'd be a name in my family....Because I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the stars, and that seems to be like all we're ever named after with a few exceptions," Vinde replied. "Which unfortunately I am not one of."

"It means son of light or some other rubish like that," Nix said. "Our parents have somethingwith light, Pheonix; a creature of light and Orion; son of light. I think anyway." She shrugged and wondered when the first ears were getting here, sure the trip on boats was fun for the first years but for everyone else it was an utter annoyance,

"It's also a constellation," Vinde pointed out, having remembered. "But yeah...ours families are both full of nutters obsessed with naming their kids after a specific type of thing, although at least some light names sound normal..."

Nix shook her head. "Yep, our families are nutters, great." The first years finally got there and after a very long and boring sorting Dinner started, after a enjoyable dinner the annoucements came and the pink lady (professor Umbridge) was indead defence against the dark arts teacher.

"Wonderful..." Vinde muttered sarcastically. "This is most definitely going to be a great year..." She scowled at the new professor, not hiding the fact that she already didn't like her. Who in their right mind could stand that much pink to begin with?

"Definetly," Phoenix agreed sarcasticly. "I just can't wait to get started." She made a face and raised her eyebrow as the nutcase in pink coughed a stupid cough and started to make some stupid speech about some stupid crap that no-one would be listening to, except maybe Hermione and when Nix shot her a glance the girl was indeed listening but frowning as if she didn't like what the nutcase in pink was saying but then she doubted if anyone would like what nutcases in pink said.

After five minutes of the nutcase in pink ranting at them all about stupid stuff Vinde was about ready to bash her head on the table. Not only was the pink annoying, but so was the pink thing's voice. Like nails on a chalkbaord or something.

"We have to lsat a year with this pink lady?" Nix asked Vinde incredulously. The pink lady continued to drone on. "Finally," Nix muttered once she had finished her crappy speech. can we go to bed now?"

Vinde groaned at the thought of putting up with this lady for more than ten minutes, let alone a whole year worth of class. Or more, she shuddered to think, if this teacher managed to last longer. "That's a depressing thought," she muttered. Then Vinde made a noise of agreement when Nix said something about bed, and faked a yawn to emphasize it.

"Finally," Nix muttered as they were allowed to go up to their common room, after brushing her teeth and getting out of her clothes Nix got into bed and pulled the cover over her, yawning she rolled over and heard Hermione and Pavati or Lavender Nix couldn't tell who bickering about something or other. "Will you two shut up? I want to get some sleep."

Vinde got ready for bed once in the dorms, and laid down closing her eyes with a tired yawn. Only to open them again a second later to talking and Nix telling them to shut up. They didn't. "Really," she snapped, sitting up. "Would you shut your mouths. Some of us don't take well to not getting enough sleep at night."

"If you don't shut up I'll hit you with something hard. Like a book." She glared at them until they shut up and got into bed. "Thankyou." Nix said and rolled over and fell asleep. The girl woke up the next morning having slept quite well.

Vinde laughed. "I would've tossed the book at them right after saying it.." she muttered, laying back down and closing her eyes again, falling asleep. When she woke up the next morning she yawned, stretching her arms above her head, before sitting up in bed so she wouldn't just fall back to sleep. Having slept in all summer, getting up early was going to be tough.

"I hate school already," Nix muttered yawning, "I like my sleep-ins." She yawned again and got up and started to get ready.

"Yeah," Vinde yawned, getting up to get ready for classes that day. In her personal opinion she thought they should give the students a week to settle in, the poor overwhelmed first years and all that. But no, they just had to start classes the day after arrival.

The two girls went down to breakfast and got their timetables. "Oh doesn't today look fun," Nix said sarcasticly
