| Lyssa thought over Draco's suggestion for a moment, nodding slowly to herself as she did so. "Sounds good to me," she said. And so within the next ten minutes to two had their nams written down and in a bowl rather than a hat, as the Manor was lacking hats. Lyssa looked at Draco. "I'll draw the name," she said, "since it was my idea. Whoever it is, there's no arguing." | |

| Draco grinned triumphantly as he scribbled down Snape's name three times and placed each piece of parchment, folded over neatly, into the bowl. "Oh, I wouldn't dare argue," he said solemnly, working hard to keep a straight face. "Fair's fair, right?" | |

| Lyssa didn't say a word as she wrote on her three slips of parchment. Each one said 'McGongall' when she was finished. There was no one else she would trust with this. She put the slips in the bowl and looked at Draco who had already put his in. "Ready?" she asked. | |

| Draco nodded and inwardly tried to calculate his chances of coming out the victor. Maths had never been his strong point, as his father had always considered it a Muggle bother, but he knew that half of the papers said Snape, and that only one of them said McGonagall. Surely Lyssa's other two options couldn't be quite as bad as that. | |

| Lyssa looked at the slips of paper, mixing them together a little bit to make it more fair since she knew which ones were her's. There was no doubt in her mind, with as adamant as Draco had been about getting Snape for help, that the Potions master was on more than one slip. She reached for a slip of paper, grabbing one and pulling it out. She unfolded it slowly, then read out the name. "Snape, although you're a little cheater," she said to Draco. | |

| Draco nearly opened his mouth to say, "Prove it," before he realized that, in fact, she could, so he just smiled. "One of your slips had an equal chance of being chosen as mine. I just pooled my chances in one option." He wasn't sure exactly what he'd just said as he wasn't keen on making wagers, but he was too smug about the Potions master's name being pulled to care. "I'll go get Archimedes and some parchment and ink," he said excitedly, bolting for the stairs. Normally he wouldn't run, especially in the house, but he was eager to get out of this whole mess, and if anyone could handle it, it would be Snape. | |

| "Well it's not like I didn't do the exact same thing," Lyssa said, before realizing that that statement made her a cheater too. This caused her to frown slightly as Draco went off to fetch his owl and letter writing materials. A few moments later, he came back with the items, setting the parchment and ink on the table. "So," Lyssa started, breaking the short silence that commenced when Draco returned, "what are we going to put in the letter?" | |

| Returning with his materials, Draco stuck the end of the sugar quill in his mouth and bit down, giving himself something to do while he thought. "You know, I actually don't know," he admitted, another uncharacteristic move for him in a single day. He stared at the parchment, and then into the murky surface of his green ink, trying to think of how you explained that you were not yourself. "I suppose Dear Sir works to begin it," he finally said, eager to get somewhere instead of just sitting around and doing nothing. | |

| Lyssa rolled her eyes at him. "Well that much is obvious," she muttered. The two were quiet for a moment. Lyssa wondered just how one would write a letter over a topic like this one, not coming up with anything useful. Finally, she looked to Draco. "I can't think of anything that doesn't make one or both of us sound mental. Perhaps we should try a different means of communication, like Flooing." | |

| "Well, then we'll just both look mental at the same time," Draco muttered, still hovering the quill over the ink pot. Yet, he knew the girl was right, as there was really no way to put down on paper that there was some sort of parallel universe crisis. "Besides, we're going to have to get both of our heads into the fireplace at once like a pair of idiots. But I suppose it's the only way." It'd be much easier to talk out what was going on. Snape would surely recognize the situation if it was something that had ever happened before. He had enough free time on his hands that he knew near about everything, or knew where to find out about it if he didn't.
Draco waved his hand at the parchment, ink pot, and quill, and then frowned when it didn't vanish. He promised himself that one day he would figure out how to do that, as it looked very impressive and regal when his father did it. He refrained from saying, "To the fireplace!" as he headed towards the drawing room, where there was a silver pot of Floo powder with the family crest etched on resting on the hearth. He spent a good thirty seconds trying to remember where Snape even lived when he wasn't haunting the dungeons, before finally blurting, "Spinner's End!" Luckily, he hadn't thrown the Floo powder in yet, and he wasn't nearly ready to talk to Snape yet. "How are we going to go about this?"

| Lyssa couldn't honestly care less if she looked like an idiot or not, so she rolled her eyes at Draco as the two of them headed to the fireplace. She had no clue where Snape lived, so she was glad when Draco knew, otherwise the plan would have failed before it even started. "Well," she said in response to his question, "there's the matter of getting him to believe us first, and then finding out if he knows how to fix it. And there's also the matter of me interacting with him as little as possible, so expect to do most of the talking." | |

| Nodding, Draco tried to figure out how to get someone to believe that he was telling the truth. He wasn't exactly known for it, and in this world, where Snape was nothing more to them but a professor, it would be even harder than usual. He was a rational man, though, so he might be willing to believe. "I don't know why you're so worried about talking to him. It's not like he can kill you through Floo or anything." Wanting to just get all of this over with so that he could go home, Draco grabbed a handful of Floo power and chucked it into the fireplace, stating "Spinner's End." He gathered that Snape would probably have some sort of ward set to notify him when he had a fire-call, and, kneeling down to the rug on the floor, he stuck his head easily into the flames and awaited the man who might be able to set the world right once again. | |

| Severus was sitting in his study when he was alerted to the fire call. Closing the book he'd been reading, the Potions master stood up from his chair, walking to the den, where the fireplace was located. Whoever had seen fit to interupt his summer was going to pay, as Severus valued the time he had a way from those snot-nosed brats he had to teach. "Mr. Malfoy," he said, upon seeing his fireplace, "why have you seen fit to contact me?" | |

| Draco flinched at the polite but clearly unwelcoming greeting from Snape. "Sorry, professor." From there, he wasn't sure exactly what to say, as there was no simple quote from his father or snarky comment of his own that would cover the situation. "I think there's some sort of...parallel universe going on," he said quickly, not wanting to waste Snape's time and have a lot of wasted time on their hands. | |

| Severus had to admit that what Draco had said was odd, but he didn't let it show on his face. Instead, he said, "I do not have time for your childish antics. Unless there is anything of real importance that arises, please refrain from contacting me again."
Behind Draco, Lyssa found herself amused. While she wanted the normal Draco back, she couldn't help but nearly smile at this Draco trying to get Snape's help.

| Draco, desperate, resorted to a set of words that he would otherwise have avoided like the plague. "Please, professor!" he pleaded, feeling ridiculous but knowing that there was no other way. He could think of no other option but to start explaining himself and hope that Snape's interest would be piqued. "It's not a prank. I woke up to find a world completely different than the one I went to sleep in. Suddenly, there are agitating extra people in my family, and you're not my godfather any longer, and I can't get back." He stopped quickly, knowing he sounded foolish and deranged. He felt less like a Malfoy than he ever had and he wanted nothing more than to find that he was dreaming and come out fine on the other side of this. | |

| Severus' eyebrow rose at Draco's pleading. He hadn't often known the boy to plead and beg for something, always carrying himself around in a superior manner. "Mr. Malfoy," he said. "While you may believe your little tale true, you have shown no proof that it is such. Provide me with solid proof and I may be persuaded to believe you."
Behind Draco, Lyssa was scowling. "I am not agitating!" she said, knowing full and well he was referring to her since she was the only person he seemed to not know.

| Draco waved absently at his newly-discovered sister, not in any mood to deal with two things at once. He thought hard as to what could last across parallel universes. Nothing he said could possibly validate his words, and he couldn't just pull someone else from his world here to confirm it. Finally, the idea clicked into his mind and he very nearly gave a whoop of joy. "Here!" he said, pulling up his right sleeve and muttering, "Curator per veneratio." Above his right arm, a writhing snake insignia whose tail led into a bubbling cauldron appeared. Draco let out a breath of relief that the spell worked despite the world he was in. "You swore at my birth to be my godfather. An honorable guardian. You have to help me." | |
