In Another Life

Cassie Evans strolled into the platform, happy to be getting away from home. She loved her family she really did but she didn't like it when they argued. She said a breif goodbye to her mother and went to find her best freind Claudia who usaully ended up getting to the station before Cassie. She entered the train walking through it until she found Claudia who was sitting and drawing intently on a sketchbook in her hand. "Morning," Cassie said with a smile. Claudia looked up and smiled back before going bcak to her drawing. Cassie glanced a look at it. Claudia had always been an exception artist and Cassie was quite envious of her skills.

Lyssa Malfoy arrived at the platform with her mother and brother. Her father was absent due to his being locked away in Azkaban. Lyssa couldn't help but find herslf upset over the fact. Moreso, she was upset with Voldemort for being the reason he was in there to begin with. The two young Malfoys bid their mother farewell and boarded the train, walking to find their friends. They came across Draco's first. Blaise was there, but so were some people Lyssa couldn't stand, like Pansy. She ducked in the compartment just long enough to hug Blaise and say she'd see him later and that she was sitting with Amara. Then Lyssa set off alone to find her friend. She found her a few compartments over, reading a book.

Claudia put her notebook back into her back after a bit and then looked at at Cassie sitting cross legged on the seat oposite her. "How was your summer?" Cassie asked her pushing her hair behind her ears, only for it to flop back down a few moments later. "It was good," Claud said in reply. "Yours?" "Fine." Claud raised an eyebrow at her. "What's wrong?" "Nothing." "Cassie," "I'm fine." "No your not." "Yes I am."

Amara had looked up when Lyssa entered. "Hello," she said, checking her page and closing her book. Lyssa responded with a hello, too. The two chatted for a little while about their summers, until Amara brought up the one thing Lyssa didn't want to talk about. "How are you all doing after what happened with your dad?" Amara asked. Lyssa frowned. "As well as can be expected I would assume," she replied.

The two girls continued to argue for a little while until Cassie gave up and just told Claud what was bothering her. Claudia listened well enough and the girls talked for a bit as the train sped through the country side. The train trip wasn't that eventful though the girls talked about Voldemort being back for a little bit. Cassie yawned softly as the train pulled to a stop.

Amara and Lyssa quickly ventured off that topic, once Amara noticed how sour of a mood it put Lyssa in to discuss. She wasn't a Ravenclaw for nothing. The two went on to some safer topics, and soon the train ride was coming to a close. It pulled into the station and stopped.

The two girls chattered as they made their way towards the carraiges that were going to take them up to the school. They found an empty carraige and dumped their suitcases in it.

Lyssa and Amara took a little time to get to the carriages and by the time they did, almost all of them were full of students. The only one that wasn't had two Gryffindors in it. Lyssa frowned; she didn't get along with Gryffindors well. The two girls made their way over to the carriage and Amara got in first, politely saying that everywhere else had already filled up. Lyssa followed her, a frown on her face as she was quiet. She looked the two Gryffindors over.

Cassie and Claudia stopped talking when two people entered their carraige, one Cassie recognised and one that she didn't. The one that she did recognise was Malfoy whom Cassie did not like. The two girls had gotten off to a bad start in their first year and now they just kind of hated eachother. Cassie turned away and back to Claudia who had an eyebrow raised at the two girls.

Lyssa frowned more when she realized what Gryffindors she and Amara had the misfortune of sitting with. Well, she would have frowned over any Gryffindor to be honest. She had to be sitting with draco, Blaise and Amara, not Amara and some Gryffindors. "I'm Amara Levitt," Lyssa heard Amara saying in the tone she always used around people she didn't know.

"Claudia Rineworth," Claudia said back to the girl sitting next to Malfoy. Cassie's eyes darted sideways to look at said girl. "Cassie Evans." She replied wondering why on earth Malfoy and her freind had chosen their carraige to sit in. She sighed supposeing that the others were probably all full.

Lyssa was quiet throughout the introductions. If they didn't know her they were either living under a rock or just plain stupid. In fact, even as there was chatter in the carriage she was quiet. She saw no reason to interact with the Gryffindors, and she wasn't going to talk with Amara if they could overhear her.

Cassie turned back to Claudie to continuetheir interupted conversation, not caring that the other two could probably overhear them. "Anyway," Claudia said after glancing at the two other people in the carraige before deciding that she didn't care if they overheard or not. "Ben starts highschool this year. He was kind of upset that he didn't seem to have magic like I do but he got over that pretty fast." "Lucky him," Cassie said with a sigh. "It took Lizzie a while to get over that fact herself."

The conversation only served to remind Lyssa that she was currently sharing a carriage with people of unpure blood. What her father say if he knew about this? She made a small noise under her breath at the thought, that almost sounded like a snort of disdain. She tucked some of her bangs back.

Cassie rolled her eyes as Malfoy made some sort of snorting noise. "You can walk to Hogwarts if you don't want to be in our company." Cassie told her. Claudie snickered softly under her breath before continueing to talk to Cassie about Ben and his school.

Lyssa looked at the Gryffindor sharply. "I have a better idea," she said. "Why don't you walk to the castle? It would only be fitting." She raised her eyebrow delicately, waiting for the girl to respond. Non-purebloods always got so iffy when you acted superior to them.

"Well as I was here first," Cassie said in an annoyed tone. "I don't see why I should be the one to leave." Claudia wacked her head into her palm as the two girls started to bicker. To stay out of the arguement she pulled out her notebook and continuedto work on the picture she had been drawing earlier in the day.

"Well, obviously you and probably your friend, should be the ones to leave. Well, really you should also probably just leave the school all together. I still, honestly, don't get why they let halfbloods and Mudbloods in. It's ridiculous. They just pull down the standards of magic."

"CASSIE," Claudia said in a warning tone as Cassie got up and looked as if she was about to punch the other girl in the face. Cassie ignored her and Claudie narrowed her eyes. "Cassandra Evans," She said in the same tone. She grabbed Cassie's arm and pulled her back down. "Stop it." Cassie scowled slightly at her freind. "She deserves it." "Doesn't matter Cass." "But-" "I'm fine." Cassie sighed and Claudia turned to Malfoy. "You do know that you are rather pathetic, having to call people names so you can feel better about your self and you lack of skill in magic."

Lyssa's heart beat faster in her chest for a moment as the girl she'd been speaking to -what was her name?- stood up in anger. But she didn't let it show on her face. Instead she waited until the girl had calmed down some before speaking again. "My lack of skills you say?" she said. "How about I show you just how unlacking my skills are?" Then Amara, who had been quiet the whole time, put her hand on Lyssa's arm. "Lyss," she said. "Leave it alone. We're almost there anyway."

Cassie growled under her breath giving Claudia an annoyed look at the fact that her freind wouldn't let her punch the Malfoy girl in the face and give her a black eye. She deserved it anyway. Cassie was amazed at how calm he freind could be sometimes, even when she'd been harshly insulted. Claudia rolled her eyes at the Malfoy girl and turned back to Cassie. "Anyway," She said. "As I was saying before we were interupted."

The carriages reached the school soon, just like Amara had said. The students in the surrounding carriages started to disembark from them, just as the four occupants of their carriage did.

As Amara and Claudie got out of the carraiges first, Cassie while Claudie wasn't about to stop her punched Malfoy in the jaw. "Don't you dare insult my freinds again." She snarled before exiting. "Cassie," Claudia said with a sigh looking up as Cassie stopped next to her. "I didnt do anything." Cassie said quickly. "Course you didn't."

Lyssa, who had stood up to get out of the carriage and wasn't expecting to get hit in the face, fell completely backwards, nearly hitting one of the carriage benches. She looked up at the girl from her position on the floor, eyes slightly wider than normal. "What the hell?" she snapped.

"You insulted my best freind." Cassie said in a livid tone. "Come on Cass," Claudia said pulling on her freinds arm. Cassie let Claudie pulled her away. "Cassie honestly," She said with a sigh. "You need to stop punching people. You'll get into trouble before the year even starts."
