In Another Life

The class dragged on as it was a doubled class. Thankfully thoughit cmae to a close without too much more spats and no explosions. Just before it ended Slughorn got everyone's attention and assigned their homework. It was another essay, but only 6 inches this time, over Wormwood and its uses in potion-making.

Cassie grumbled at how much homework they had been given. She was rather put off at the teachers and their piling giant mounds of homework on them. Claudie met up with Cassie took one look at her annoyed face and sighed. "What's is it this time?" "Take a guess." Cassie replied irritated. "Malfoy? Or the homework?" "Both." "Hrm." Claudie repled. "Well I had fun." Cassie threw her an annoyed look.

Lyssa was in a really sour mood as she walked to dinner. So much that not even Blaise could cheer her up. She didn't like the amount of homework they had and she didn't like having to work with that annoying Gryffindor.

Claudie left Casse to sulk, as she wasn't really in the mood to listen to her complaining. While Claudie didn't like Malfoy any more then Cassie did she didn't really care and honestly thought that ignoring her worked a heck of a lot better then being sour ever did.The girls went to the common room to start on their giant mound of homework.

After eating a quick dinner, the group of Slytherins returned to the common room to work on their mound of homework, sharing answers and such throughout working on them. Near the end of the second DADA essay Lyssa was about ready to smash her head on something. This was mad.

Cassie and Claudie got to bed late that night, Cassie grmbling and swearing that she was going to shoot something if they more essays the next day. She jst could not handle having to do that much work. Becase while she could work quite well when she needed to she was tired and didn't want to.

The trio of Slytherins actually managed to finish their essays in a fair amount of time, Blaise being some sort of genius, so they got to bed at a reasonable hour, with little extra grumbling, because they had finished everything.

Cassie yawned slightly tired the next morning, which was not good as that meant that she would undoubtfully stuff something up because she couldn't concerntrate quite so well. Yawning she made her way to breakfast, Claudie already up ad gone.

The next morning Lyssa was the last one to wake up and so had to go to breakfast on her own, though she quickly spotted her brother at the table. They ate a nice breakfast, unstressed unlike some of their classmates who were doing their Transfig essay. Then after breakfast, they all walked to Transfig, the first class of the day, unfortunately a double period.

In transfig Professor McGonagall took up thier essays and instructed them to work on the spell they were having difficulty with. Cassie who first off was horrid at the one she was trying and secondly was half asleep was getting no-where near what was meant to be happening.

Lyssa worked on her spell and had it nearly completely done by the middle of the lesson. She narrowed her eyes playfully at Blaise, who was sitting in his chair bored as he had all the spells down. "You could help me?" Lyssa suggested to him.

Cassie growled in frustration at the spell, she did not like it one bit. The spell was pointless anyway, like she needed to know it. She scowled flicking her wand muttering the incantation succeding in nothing happening.

Blaise in the end did help Lyssa with her spell and she soon had it down. Once finished, she looked around the room a little bit. Spotting that Gryffindor from Potions whose name she didn't care to remember she said, "What happened to being competent?"

"Potions and Transfiguration are two completly diferent subjects last time I checked." Cassie replied irritibly. She was having enough trouble as it was without the added annoyance that Malfoy could bring. "And anyway, I'm alright at most transfiguration it's just this certain spell that's troubling." She frowned flicking her wand again.

"Hm, well you're the one that goes on and on about how your magic is just as good as mine is, but that obviously isn't the case. And if you'd notice, all of the purebloods in the room have mastered their spells and have stopped working."

Cassie gave her an irritated look. "I havn't been saying my spellwork is as good as yours, I have been saying that just becaise im a halfblood does not mean I'm stupid."

"I never said that you were stupid," Lyssa replied. "I said that my magic was better and that people like you were pulling down the standards with your weaker magic." Then she shrugged. "You can't say I'm wrong. Look how poorly you're doing now."

"I am not pulling down standards," Cassie retorted. "And this is one spell, just because Im doing poorly with the spell I'm worst at. Worst at being the keyword there. Doesn't mean Im pulling down standards."

"Well seeing as we," Lyssa motioned to herself and Blaise, "can already do it, I would say you are pulling down the standards." Then, tired of standing, she leaned back on her table, looking rather bored with the conversation.

"And so can other Muggleborns and HalfBloods in the class," Cassie replied. "Claudia can do it and so can Hermione and they are both Muggleborns. Im sure various others can." She was becoming irritated with Malfoy.

"Hm," Lyssa made a dismissive noise. "And I bet they all studied for hours on end to get it right, where I've managed in a class period. Now what does that tell you?"

"That you are a stupid predujuice idiot who would rather think that people must have to study for hours on end to get spells where you can do without study, when actually they might amazingly enough be smarter then you."

Lyssa just rolled her eyes. "You spew all this nonsense, but you'v never backed any of it up, leading to prove that I'm right."

Cassie rolled her eyes flicking her wand again and nearly getting the spell she was aiming for. After a few more tries she managed to succeed in what she was doing and then did it a few more times to make sure that she had it. With a smile Cassie put her wand down on her table and spun it slightly.

Lyssa found herself smirking at the lack of a response.
