It's Complicated Conforming To Society

Evangeline sighed tapping her pen against the table boredly. Not caring if small splatters of ink appeared on the desk. It wasnt like it made much of a difference anyway, the desk had been abused over the many years that it had sat in that classroom. Students sratching markings in various patterns and initials. Ink splattered over the desk and just random markings. She sighed pulling out her neckwatch to look at the time, the class had another ten minutes and then the day was over. It was a friday thank Merlin. And they had had their first lot of snow fall after lunch and the students were just itching to get out in it.

Most anyway, Evie wasn't exactly fond of snow. Sure she didn't mind it, but she didn't like getting soaking wet. Though she forgot about getting soaking wet once a snowball fight started and snowballs started to fly everywhere. She glanced back down at her watch with a sigh. Watching the hand tick slowly around the watch. It seemed to be going too slow to be possible. Why did last period Friday's always go so long? And it was Transfiguration with McGonagall. Which just made things so much worse.

Lyall sat in her desk, looking out of the window next to her seat. The snow was still falling from the sky and covering the ground in a white blanket. She frowned at it, despising the snow. It was too cold, and she'd learned over the years that people enjoyed throwing it at her, whether she was inside the castle or not.

Evie sighed again and her mind faintly registered that McGonagall was giving out the days homework. Pulling her thoughts back to the class she jotted down the work into her diary and placed her diary back into her bag with a yawn. This class really did drag on. And Evie did not like that fact.

The bell rang and McGonagall dismissed them. Evie grabbed her bag and slung it over her shoulder waiting impatiently for Alyse who hadn't thought to pack up her bag before the bell had rung. "Come on Al," She said with a sigh. "I'm coming, I'm coming." "Come faster." Evie said. Alyse smiled and slung her back over her back. "Alright let's go."

The class ended after what seemed like forever, and Ly left the room, deciding to head immediately down to the common room to hopefully avoid any snow coming her way once people started trapsing outside in it.

"Allo girls," Courtney said with a smile as she walked over to walk with them back to the common room. "Hey Courtney," Evie replied as they made their way down to the common room. This brought complaining from Courtney and Steph who wanted to go and play outside in the snow. Evie said they were perfectly welcome to but that she was going to stay nice and warm and dry in the common room.

Evie gave the password to the common room and sat down on the couch, sitting cross legged across it. "Friday finally." Ella said walking into the common room and sitting down on the couch next to Evie. She put her feet up on it and lied back. Taking up the rest of the couch and forcing everyone else to sit somewhere else. Or in Courtney's stage pull her off the couch and take her spot.

Ly walked in the common room, and noticing a group of girls in her year were already occupying more of it, headed up to the dorms. She couldn't stand people on the best of days. They judged too much. It was probably why she didn't have any friends.

"Courtney!" Ella exclaimed as she was pushed off of the couch. "Hrm?" Came the reply. Courtney smiled wickedly at her. "You moved, so I took your spot." "I did not move you pulled me off." "Which comes back to the same thing." "No it doesn't" "Yes it does." Evie watched her two freinds bicker with amusement and then turned to talk to Alyse who looked like shewas about to throw something at Courtney. Which she did in fact so a moment later. Though that something was thankfully just a pillow.

Ly flopped back on her bed, covering her eyes with her hand. At least in this common room she didn't have to worry about people magicking open windows and spelling in snow. It was under the lake.

Then a pillow fight started, or more a grab anything in reach and throw it. Which was luckily only pillows otherwise someone would have probably gotten hurt which wouldn't be pleasent. Evie smiled amused ducking as a pillow soared towards her, she grabbed it and then sent it back towards Ella and hit her squarly in the face.

While just laying there, Ly realized that the next weekened was Hogsmeade, and it was also the weekend right before the full moon, which was that Monday. She hated those days, more than any of the rest of the days in the year.

The pillow fight continued for a little longer until the girls got bored with it and went back to talking. deciding they might as well work on their homework they got their books out of their bags. Evie who had left her transfiguration book in her suitcase (thankfully they hadnt needed it for class) went off to the common room to get it.

The next week passed quickly, much quicker than Lyall liked. And soon she found herself on the walk to the hospital wing for her transformation that night.

Evie sighed as she worked on her potions assignment, she was getting a headache and could not concerntrate in the slightest. Putting her quill down on the table with a sigh she leaned back and massaged her temple. "Go get something for it," Courtney said absent-mindly looking up from her bareley started potions assignment. "May as well. Be back in a bit."

Lyall walked in the hospital wing, the nurse already having the Wolfsbane ready for her, sitting beside bed in a nondiscrete glass. She walked over to it, looking at the nurse as she picked it up. This was usual for full moons. Lyall drank the potion, making a face. "Bleck," she said. "Wolfsbane is awful."

Evie pushed open the door to the Hospital wing though stopped when she heard a voice, a voice she knew, Lyall Damen. She was another girl in her year and actually kind of a loner, as she didn't have any freinds nor talk to anyone. "Bleck Wolfsbane is awful." Evie froze as her mind processed that and before she could get seen she stepped out of the hospital wing letting the door shut slowly so it didn't bang and alert someone to her presence. "Wolfsbane," She whispered to herself. "That's that thingy for werewolves." Then her eyes widened. "Werewolves?!" That was louder then she had intended but luckily by this time she was a fair distence away from the hospital wing. "They can't allow werewolves into the school." She trudged down the steps a frown on her face. "That's, they can't allow werewolves. Idiotic." She frowned. Though she supposed it did make sense, the fact that she had no freinds and didn't socialise with people, how she seemed to be sick every month or so. Evie might not pay her much attension but she noticed when people were missing on a regular basis.

The next morning, Lyall walked to breakfast, feeling -once again- glad that she'd gotten over not being able to seleep during full moons. She really couldn't afford to be missing classes in the last couple of years with all the big exams that floated aroun.

The day passed and Evie noticed that Lyall looked tired, as if she hadn't slept. Throughout the day Evie pondered what she was going to do about the possibility of Lyall being a werewolf. Well she would have to confirm it somehow, but how? Evie frowned slightly. When the bell rang Evie noticed Lyall go off and make her way to the library, telling Stephi that she had to go and get something and that she'd meet her in the common room Evie followed.

Classes were brutal the first day after a full moon. Lyall always felt exhausted on those days, but she pushed herself through them. Once classes were over, she resigned herself to go to the library for some much needed quiet time. She walked through the rows of books looking for a secluded table where she wouldn't be bothered.

Evie followed Lyall to the library, she stayed a few steps back as the other girl went to find a desk somewhere away from the other inhabitents of the library. Once the girl had sat down Evie walked forward and leaned against the wall not too far away from it. She pushed her dark brown curls behind her eyes and turned to look at Lyall wondering if the other girl had noticed her.

Lyall sat at a table, digging around in her bag for the book she wanted to look through. As she was doing so, she felt the presence of another person, and for probably the first time ever she was thankful that she was a werewolf and that her senses were slightly heightened the week before and after the full moon. She looked up from her searching to see a fellow Slytherin. "What?" she asked, in a tone that suggested she didn't want to be bothered.

"Nothing," Evie said with a small smirk playing on the edges of her lips. "Hogwart's standards really are laking," She said more in a way as if she was talking to herself not the girl sitting a few feet away from her. "First they let Mudbloods and filth into the school and now they're letting in Mutts. Do they have any morals at all?"

Lyall frowned, not looking up from the book she'd pulled out and was reading. Her eyebrows pulled together, and she tried not to let any internal panic she was feeling show on her face as she listened. "What do you mean by mutts?" she asked, hoping this wasn't about to drive her into some sort of hole she couldn't climb from.

"I think you know exactly what I mean," Evie said still leaning against the wall. She smirked slightly watching Lyall. She could tell that the girl was trying to stay calm and not let panic show on her face. As that would be a dead give-a-way. "Dumbledore really is losing it," She said with a sigh. "First that idiot of a Defence teacher in second year and now you. It's like he doesn't care if any of us get attacked."

"I'm afraid that I don't know what you mean by and now me," Lyall said, keeping her eyes on her book. "I have absolutely nothing in common with Professor Lupin." Of course, that was possibly the biggest lie ever.

"Sure you don't, that's why you're not looking me in the eye now. The reason that you always seemed exhusted the day after the full moon, the reason you're never in the dorm on the full moon night and the reason that yesterday when I walked into the hospital wing you said that wolfsbane tasted bad." Evie smirked at her. "No, nothing in common at all."
