It's Complicated Conforming To Society

Ella glared at the older student, walking off rather than get in trouble. She could always just bother Lyall later anyway, as they were in the same house. Once she was gone, Lyall looked at the Ravenclaw. "I didn't need any help you know," she said. "I could have dealt with her on my own."

The Ravenclaw looked at it with a small frown. "I'm a prefect it's just part of what I'm meant to do despite if the person is up to defending themselves or not." She frowned again slightly and ran a hand through her hair. "Are you alright?"

Lyall, still frowning, nodded at the Ravenclaw. "I'm fine," she said, although that was only half true. She was feeling sort of...hurt she supposed was the word as to what someone people (or at the very least Ella) thought of her.

"Sure?" The Ravenclaw asked seeing some of the hurt on her face. "I know a bit about nastyness and rumors and I suggest you either talk to your head of house or the headmaster about it, they'll be able to do something." She shrugged.

"I'm fine," Lyall insisted, tone stoning over. "I don't need anyone's help." She looked at the Ravenclaw, who didn't seem convinced, for a moment. "Really," Lyall continued.

The Ravenclaw looked dubiously at her. "If you say so, though I still recomend telling your head of house." Not that she was very sure what Snape would do but then she wasn't in Slythein so had no idea how he acted towards his house when one was in a crisis.

"I'm not telling anyone," Lyall muttered. "I can handle this on my own. There's going to be problems similar wherever I go after I leave school, so I need to learn to deal with them now. It'd be best I think." She shrugged. "And if you didn't believe it before, I think I just confirmed things."

The Ravenclaw prefect just shrugged at her. "I suppose so. Take care." And she turned and strolled out of the hallway on her prefect duties wondering how someone had found out that the girl was a werewolf and why on earth they would tell the school.

Lyall stood there for a moment more, before turning around and heading back the way she'd come from before, making her way back to the common room. She gave the password at the door and walked inside, noticing that Evie was still about and that Ella was there now as well.

As Evie had predicted by around lunchtime the enxt day the whole school knew that Lyall was a werewolf.

Lyall just ignored the other students, even more so than she had before. Although, this only succeeded in alienating her.

Needless to say, most of the students either stayed as far away from the girl as was possible or took pleasure in taunting and mocking her. Students wrote home and letters from parents made their way to the school. They didn't want a werewolf in the same building as their children. Some students felt bad for her but didn't make any move to try and comfort her or be nice to her, they were probably a little scared. And a bunch of students didn't really care, nothing had happened to them so far so what was wrong with it?

Lyall tried her best to act like nothing bothered her, because this was all basically her fault in the first place. If she had been more careful then Evie never would have learned her secret and then this whole fiasco wouldn't have been started.

One night, about a week after things started, Lyall was down in the common room after everyone had gone off to bed. She sat on a couch, knees pulled to her chest. Her head rested on the couch's arm. The entire room was quiet, except for the occassional crackle of the fire and a sniffle from Lyall here and there. Things had finally spilled over and she was crying, not caring if anyone were to walk down and see her.

Evie was quite pleased with how it had turned out, while students had barely gone near the girl before just because they didn't get along with her. They now took obvious effort not to be within a few feet of her. The younger ones more then the older ones were absolutely terrified at the fact that a werewolf was in the school.
