Sometimes its hard to just keep going.

Lyssa stayed in the back of the room, mostly shrouded in the shadows that the room held, but if they didn't know she was there then they were all a right bit stupider than she had previously pegged them, because it was obvious that she had come in at all. She watched what was playing out in front of her in silence, as she did many things.

There was some organizing within the room, when finally Voldemort spoke. "Little Malfoy," he said, causing Lyssa to nearly jump and then frown at the name. "Pick an Evans."

She looked at him confused. "Why?"

Cassie's eyes flittered from Voldemort to Lyssa, to the member of her family. She had to blow her hair out of her face, unable to use her hand to do it. Sam who was watching her attemp to blow it out tucked it behind her ear. A frown on her face. Cassie wondered what on earth was going to happen, she did not like wondering because knowing the group of people it was not going to be pleasent.

Voldemort gave Lyssa a sharp look at her questioning. "Consider it another test," he replied, eyes glinting at her.

Lyssa frowned more than she had been previously. If it was a 'test' then she'd likely have to hurt them. This caused her to sigh. Then her gaze shifted over to the Evans family. She looked at each of them for a second, knowing that she had to eventually say which one. But she sort of didn't want to.

Finally she had stalled it long enough, or rather she couldn't stall anymore because Voldemort looked impatient. "Sam."

Cassie's eyes narrowed and next to her Sam stiffened. Though she was glad that one of her daughters hadn't been chosen. "What?" Lizzie shouted glaring darkly at Lyssa. "Leave my mum alone." "Lizzie," Sam said softly putting an arm on her and trying to quieten her eldest daughter. Lizzie shrugged her arm off scowling darkly.

Lyssa frowned at Lizzie and bit back saying something to her. No need to rile the girl up more than necessary. What was about to happen would probably do it enough anyway, Lyssa was sure of it nearly. She looked over at Voldemort, who just nodded at her. Then Lyssa looked back at Sam, hand pulling her wand from her pocket. Clenching it tightly in her hand, she closed her eyes to think. Then she opened them again, noticing that the three other Evans -excluding Sam of course- were being held back by Death Eaters again, so that they wouldn't interrupt before things ever started. Looking at Same, Lyssa whispered, "Horrendus Somnium."

"Get off me," Lizzie hissed stamping her foot down on the death Eater's foot, which did nothing. Cassie struggled for a little bit watching warily as Lyssa uttered a spell. She had never heard the spell and had no idea what it did. It didn't physically hurt her, at least not that Cassie could see. But not that long had past before Sam crumpled to the ground shaking and crying. "What are you doing?" Cassie shouted at Lyssa, she couldn't bear the look of grief that showed on her mother's face. "Stop it, stop it." She begged starting the struggle against the death eater again.

Lyssa paid the two girls no mind, looking instead at Sam. Then she heard Voldemort speak. "You," he said, speaking to Cassie, who looking very upset. "You want it to stop. All you have to do is cause some sort of hurt to your mother, and the spell over her will be lifted. Refuse and it will continue until I give permission for its release." Lyssa looked at Voldemort oddly. "What do you say?" he asked Cassie.

"Are you out of your fricken mind?" Cassie shouted at him, clenching her fist tightly. She wanted to whack someone very hard in the face. She glanced at her mother, who looked distaught and was crying. "I can't," She said said softly. "I can't hurt her." But she had to because if she didn't then her mother would be stuck under the effects of that spell. "Anyway," She said swallowing hard. "What am I meant to do? I don't have a wand."

Voldemort gave Cassie a look that said he wasn't an idiot and to not think he was one, although it was a lot less stupid looking than it sounds. "There are means to hurt people without magic," he said, "or aren't there? Is there not the barbaric way Muggles use limbs to physically harm others?" Lyssa could hear the sarcasm leaking just barely into his voice.

Cassie snarled at him, wanting nothing more to bash his head into a wall. Which would probably get her killed. Which considering what was happening in her life probably would have been more of a good thing than a bad thing. She glanced worringly at her mother and then at her sister who was glaring at Voldemort. Lizzie glanced away from him and looked at Cassie. She shrugged helplessly at her. "Fine," Cassie said trying to stop herself from crying. "Give me the use of my hands."

Voldemort nodded at the Death Eater that was restraining Cassie, who then unbound the girl's hands from behind her back. Lyssa watched, wondering just what Cassie was going to do. Surely she wouldn't be able to bear hitting Sam. Lyssa shook her head slightly, putting her concentration back on the spell she was sustaining until further notice.

Cassie streched her arms, it felt nice to have full control over them again, they'd been bound behind her back for a while. Cassie walked over to her mother who was sobbing and shaking. She glanced at Lyssa. "I hate you," She told her plainly,her tone full of venom. She sat down next to mother, feeling eyes staring at her. Cassie swallowed and as gently as she could straightened Sam's legs out in front of her. When she was younger Sam had injured her left leg and so she couldn't straighten that leg fully without a sharp jab of pain searing up it. "Sorry mum," Cassie said softly looking at the leg, the knee jutting up into the air while the other leg was straight. Cassie put her hands on either side of her mother's knee and shutting her eyes she pushed it down. Forcing the leg to straighten. Cassie flinched back as her mother let out what was a mix of a scream and a cry, Cassie hadn't realised she'd started but she was crying. Tears running down her face. "Stop it," She told Lyssa, her voice was shakey. "I hurt her, now leave her along." Cassie wanted nothing more then to curl into a ball and not face the world again.

Lyssa flinched just a little, but not enough that would be noticeable by the other people in the room. Her eyes wandered to Voldemort, who nodded at her. Lyssa did a small, quick slicing spell that would draw blood aimed at Sam, which was really the only way to stop the spell's effects aside from letting it run its course. The spell cleared up and Lyssa's wand lowered down to where it was at her side again.

Cassie hugged her mum gently and Sam hugged her back gingerly wiping her eyes with her hand. Cassie wondered what she had seen, but at the same time knew that she would probably prefer not to know. Sam stood up shakily, she unlike Cassie wasn't really physicially strong and didn't have the best pain threshold. Sam looked at Lyssa for a moment, shook her head and sighed.

Voldemort ordered the Evans family to be taken back down to the cellar, then he dismissed everyone else that was in the room. Lyssa assumed this meant he was pleased, even just a little, with what she'd done. She walked out of the room, finding herself wanted a walk, just to get away from everyone. So, she walked outside.

It was another few days later, when something quite similar happened again, only this time Sam had been left in the cellar. Apparently, this was going to be a sequence until all the Evans had gone through it.

Cassie was not in a good mood when she, her father and her sister were pulled out of the cellar. She didn't like having to hurt her family members, she didn't get what Voldemort was trying to acheive with it either. Though he was probably just doing it because he could. Cassie hissed as they were pushed into the room, if looks could kill there would have been a few dead people on the ground, but unfortunatly (or fortunetly in some cases) they couldn't, so there was not.

However, quite unfortunately for the three of them, Lyssa was not in the room this, so the spell was bound to be worse than it was before, because it would be cast by a ruthless Death Eater, and not some teenager. They picked on Cassie's dad, leaving "the young Muggle girl" for last.

Cassie in the end had to punch her father in the jaw as he didn't have a weak point that Cassie knew like her mother did. After that there were dragged back to the cellar and a few days later Cassie and Lizzie were taken to the room again. Cassie was not looking forward to it.

Lyssa was around this time and so Voldemort had her cast the spell to hurt Lizzie. She had been reading lately, quite bored and knew just what spell she would use on the girl. She pulled out her wand, looking at Lizzie. "Contricio," she then said.

Lizzie made a noise that was partway between a groan and a yell. "Oww," She muttered, Cassie watched her warily wondering what the spell did. "Cassie," Lizzie said softly. "Feel like something's pressing against my chest. Makes it harder to breath." Cassie chewed the edge of her lip watching her sister who looked like she was in pain. Cassie wasn't really that sure what to do to hurt Liz that wouldn't hurt her once Cassie had stopped. "Sorry Lizzie dear," She said softly glaring daggers at Lyssa. She grabbed Lizzie's arm pulling it behind her back and twisting it. Reminding Cassie of when they were younger and they got into fights. Lizzie yelped loudly as she did like Cassie knew she would.

Lyssa inwardly cringed at the sound Lizzie made. She looked at Voldemort for his signal to stop the spell, but he gave her none. This was slightly concerning. Instead he spoke to Cassie. "Let's see just how far you are willing to go in order to relieve the suffering of someone you care about." Then he looked at Lyssa. "Redo the spell with more power behind it this time."

Cassie looked at him and her eyes widened for a moment before they narrowed. "What else am I meant to do?" She snarled at him clenching her fists, her nails dug into her palm. A flop of hair fell in front of her eyes and Cassie made a face pushing it back, it was greesy and dirty and parts of it were covered in dried blood. Cassie was pretty sure she did not want to see a mirror.

Voldemort's eyes glinted evilly. "Once the spell is recast, you can do as you like to get it to stop," he said. "How far as you willing to go?" He was quiet for a moment. "And just as a note, you are not going to do as you please without resistance. My Death Eaters will act accordingly." Then he looked at Lyssa once more. "The spell, Little Malfoy." Lyssa nodded and redid the spell.

"Cassie," Lizzie wheezed her face contorted with pain. "It hurts Cassie." Cassie ran her hand through her hair, clenched her fist and smashed it into a near-by wall with quite some force. Her hand hurt afterwards and it bleed slightly but at the moment she did not care, she needed to get some of her anger out of her. She shook her hand, blowingon the cuts and turned to Lyssa contemplating what to do. Cassie didn't think well under pressure, so she generally went with the first thing that came up. "Leave her alone," Cassie hissed taking a step towards her freind, or former freind. Her eyes glinted darkly.

Lyssa watched Cassie, forcing herself to be stoic about the situation. She didn't dare look at Lizzie; that would've broken the smooth mask she'd slid over her face. Although she could do it easily, hurting people still bothered her. But she had no choice in the matter. It was their suffering or her's, and she much rather preferred not suffering. Lyssa didn't respond to Cassie's words.
