Sometimes its hard to just keep going.

Lyssa winced and internally swore. She looked at her wand, which Cassie now had in her hand and twirling it. "Oh joy," she said, sarcasm dripping into her tone, "you've disarmed me. Now what are you going to do?"

Cassie looked at the wand, frowned slightly. Without a word she threw the wand back at Lyssa and sighed slumping into the wall behind her and then onto the ground.

Lyssa was shocked, and she would openly admit that she was. She looked at Cassie, who looked rather defeated. It tugged on Lyssa's heartstrings for a moment, but just for a moment. Lyssa decided she'd had enough of dealing with the other girl, and so charmed her to walk to the cellar with Lyssa behind her. Then Lyssa walked back up to her room, feeling exhausted.

Cassie slumped down in the cellar, put her head in her hand and sighed. She was losing her will to fight, know she just did because she had to. It used to be because she believed in what she was fighting for. She still did but she didn't want to fight.

A few quiet days went by, before Voldemort called for Lyssa to talk to her. He apparently wanted to know more about Cassie's resistance and stuff. Either way, Lyssa told him that the most important thing to Cassie was her family, and that that should have been obvious, but that's beside the point. A few moments later he called for Cassie to be brought up. "How far," he said, "are you willing to go to keep your family alive?"

Cassie's eyes widened for a moment before they narrowed. (I've writen that sentence once today already huh) "I'd do anything," She stated truthfully knowing that she really would do anything to keep her family alive even if she loathed what she had to do.

Lyssa decided she did not like the odd glint in Voldemort's eyes before he'd ever opened his mouth to speak. "Anything, you say," he said, almost like he was thinking aloud. "Including killing Little Malfoy here?" Lyssa looked at him, eyes going wider in shock.

Cassie's eyes widened as she looked at him, she shook her head. "I-I can't kill people, and especially not Lyssa." She was inwardly swearing furiously, stuck between her family getting murdered and having to kill and kill Lyssa.

Voldemort looked at Cassie thoughtfully then waved his wand in a swishing motion. The doors to the room opened and Cassie's family was marched in, each being held back by a Death Eater. "Are you so sure about that now?" he asked. "It's three lives to one."

Cassie stared at her family, she had no idea what to do. She couldn't just let her family be murdered. But she couldn't kill. And she couldn't kill Lyssa. "I-I," She said choking on tears that were running down her face. "I can't kill her," She said softly staring at her feet, she didn't want to look at her family, see the betrayal on their faces because she chose Lyssa over them.

Lyssa looked at Cassie, shock showing on her face, though not too much. Had Cassie really just picked her over her family? Voldemort was looking at the Death Eaters who were by Cassie's family members. Then he looked back at Cassie. "Are you absolutely certain of this?" he asked, giving her third and final chance. As the saying goes, 'three strikes and you're out'.

"No," Cassie said softly tears streaming down her face and giving her a headache. "I'm not. But I can't kill her." Cassie wans't sure whether it was the kill or the her which had decided it for her. A mix of both yes, but she wasn't sure which was stronger.

Voldemort raised an eyebrow (does he even have eyebrows?!) at Cassie. "So you aren't certain that you can't kill her?"

"No, I'm certain of that. I'm not certain whether I made the right choice." Cassie was feeling somewhat small and foolish. She just wanted to disapear. She looked at the floor wondering if it could eat her up. It was a magical house afterall. Cassie glanced at her family. "I'm sorry," She said quietly. "I love you." Cassie rubbed the tears from her eyes, so she missed the flash of green but when she looked up again the bodies of her family were lying lifeless on the floor. Cassie started properly crying at that point, knowing that it was her fault.

Lyssa stood there shocked at what had just played out. She'd never quite expected that to happen just from her telling Voldemort how important Cassie's family was to Cassie. "Je suis désolé," she whispered to Cassie, who probably didn't hear her. "Ce fut ma faute."

"I don't speak french," Cassie snapped at her wrapping her arms around her chest, she knelt down next to her sister's body, which only caused her to cry harder. "I'm sorry Lizzie," She said through tears. "I'm so so sorry."

"I know you don't," Lyssa said, doing her best to ignore Cassie's crying, "but I couldn't very well apologize and say this was my fault in Engl..." She stopped then, realizing that she very much had just said it in English.

Cassie snarled turning to face the girl. "I hate you," She screamed at her. "I hate you, I hate you I hate you. If you'd been anyone else they wouldn't be dead. You would be. I hate you." She burried her heads in her hands.

Lyssa took that as her cue to leave the room and swiftly did so, heading not up the stairs, but out the front door. She walked straight down the path, only veering to the side when she reached the path to the garden.

*Insert Filler Scene in which Cassie leaves the Mannor with Harry Dobby Ect.*

Lyssa was walking around one of the emptier places in Muggle London, just taking some time to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the wizarding war that was going on at the moment. As she turned a corner, she bumped into someone.

Cassie had taken to walking around London, she liked it there. She muttered an apology to some person she walked in to, glanced up and then swore loudly. She did not want to deal with seeing her.

Lyssa noticed who she had walked into and suddenly felt entirely unsure what to do with herself. She could apologize, yes, but that would probably just upset Cassie. She could also just walk off, but some part of her told her not to. She went with apologizing. "Sorry."

Cassie glared at her. "Sure," She replied wanting to just stalk off.

Lyssa stood there for a minute, quiet. Then she said, "You could at least apologize back for running into me, like I ran into to you. It's a little something called common courtesy after all." Lyssa knew this was probably a bad road to go down, but her mouth sometimes overrode her brain.
