Brand New Day

"Miss Malfoy, it's been going on for three years, and it needs to be stopped."

"It will be stopped!" Lyssa insisted. "Really, professor, it's nice that you know what's happening and all, but I can take care of it myself. I'll just...deal with until I'm of age and then show him that I'm not some weakling."

"Miss Malfoy, that's in four years, behaviour like that shouldn't be allowedto continue."


Cassie was wondering where the frick Lyssa had gone.

"Three years, actually. My birthday is right at the end of the school year, so I'm already 14," Lyssa said with a sigh. "And it isn't really that much, since I'm here most of the year, or over at Cassie's place. Really, professor. It'll be fine."

Then she grabbed some Floo, getting ready to go. Soon, she was back in the manor. Lyssa gave Cassie an apologetic look. "Sorry," she said. "I was having a last minute talk with McGonagall."

"Okay.." Cassie said, the two girls heading out of the room.

About a week or so past since the talk with McGonagall, and nothing bad had happened. The bruises were even starting to go away just a little, so they weren't quite as dark. So, one day the girls were swimming. Lyssa was floating around on her back. "This....this is what summer's supposed to be like," she commented lightly.

"Next summer we're at my house," Cassie said. "I actually wanna go home for a bit, cause I miss Emma who I barely see. Hmm. Maybe we could stay at my place for a few days?"

Lyssa turned her head just a little to look at Cassie. "Y-you can go if you want to. But, really I'd rather not be around Sam til the bruises are all gone. If they ever get there..." She poked lightly at one, and made a face.

"Yeah," Cassiesaid with a slight frown.

Lyssa sighed. "This week has been peaceful, hasn't it?" she said wistfully. "Maybe things will stop on their own."

"Maybe,"

"Granted, I have my doubts," Lyssa went on.

Cassie frowned, chewing on her lip as she swam.

"Maybe we should go to your place...for like the rest of the summer..."

"That would be nice," Cassie said.

"Think your mum would be okay with it?"

Cassie nodded. "Yeah she would be."

"Excellent, then write her and tell her we'll be over there tonight, because I'm not staying here another day. That one day Lucius gave me a look that said this isn't the end, and I don't want to wait for him to make good on that."

"Okay," Cassie said. The girls got out of the pool.

Lyssa went to her room to pack some stuff up, letting Cassie handle the owling.

Cassie wrote to her mother, and then set off shoving all of her things back into her case.

A little while later, Lyssa walked over to Cassie room. "We'll go after dinner. That should give the owl time to arrive, neh?"

Cassie nodded. "Yep. Sounds good to me."

Lyssa gave her a smile. "Just have to keep it a secret until then, I guess. Although, I wonder if it'd be better to tell my father that I'm leaving."

"That might be safe, so he doesn't appear at my house or something.."
