Brand New Day

Lyssa looked around the office after stepping from the fireplace. It was empty as far as she could tell, so McGonagall must have been out for a moment. She turned behind her as Cassie appeared. "Suppose we'll just have to wait for her to get back."

"Yeah,"Cassie nodded, feeling somewhat awkward at being in a Professor's office in the summer.

Lyssa sat down in one of the chairs in front of McGonagall's desk, leaning back and closing her eyes with a sigh. She honestly would rather not be at the school during summer, but apparently she had no choice. Lyss sighed again, just as she heard the door open.

Cassie turned, seeing McGonagall. "Hello Professor,"She said.

Lyssa turned as well from where she was sitting, since the door was at an angle to where she was sitting. "Professor," she said simply, waiting for McGonagall to freak.

"Afternoon girls..." Her eyes widened looking at Lyssa. "Miss Malfoy, what on earth has happened to you."

Lyssa shrugged at McGonagall. "Just my father..." she muttered.

McGonagall blinked. "Your father did that to you?" She exclaimed. Cassie knew that look, it was the look she had when Gryffindors did something really stupid, but, about a hundred times worse.

"Yes, ma'am," Lyssa said quietly.

"How long has this been going on Miss Malfoy?"

"Every summer since first year, whenever I'm not at Cassie's...and on any other holidays where I'm at home..." Lyssa muttered.

"Why?" McGonagall spluttered, outraged that someone could do that to their child.

"Because I'm not the perfect little daughter he wants me to be."

McGongall, if possible looked even more outraged. "I will do what I can to help you Miss Malfoy," She said.

Lyssa offered McGonagall a small smile. "Thanks, professor," she said. "We should probably get going now...If my father finds Cassie and I gone without asking to go anywhere or telling anyone where we've gone he's going to be angry."

McGonagall nodded, with a slight frown.

Lyssa looked at Cassie. "You going first?" she asked.

"Uhm, I guess?"

Lyssa nodded at her.

Cassie grabbed some floo, throwing it intothe firepace and appearin back in the room they had left from.

Lyssa got up to go as well. But, before she did she looked at McGonagall. "You know I wouldn't have told anyone about this were it not for Cassie, right?" she asked.

McGonagall looked at Lyssa. "In some cases, Miss Evans actually does know what's the best idea to do. Take care Miss Malfoy and I'll do what I can."

"I can handle it myself," Lyssa replied.

"Regardless, you shouldn't be left to do it on your own."

"But I can handle it. I don't need help."
