Brand New Day

"Yeah..." Lyssa muttered. "Suppose I should do that now then, so I don't forget. I'll be right back." Then she gave Cassie a nodded and went to find Lucius.

"Okay," Cassie said with a slight frown.

Lyssa went to Lucius' study and knocked gently on the door. Receiving permission from inside she opened the door and peeked in.

Lucius looked at his daughter, waiting for her to say what she was here to say.

"Umm," Lyssa said, shuffling slightly. "Cassie's invited me to her house for the rest of the summer..."

"Did she now? And whose to say that I am allowing you to go?"

"What do you mean? Are you saying I can't go? Figured you'd want me gone as soon as possible. Lyssa Malfoy, the little blemish who's a lion and not a snake."

"You are not going," Lucius said in a tone that ended the manner and that he wasn't going to argue about it.

"Yes, I am. I'd rather spend the summer there than here getting beaten on by you."

"Melyssa you are not going and that is the end of it. And if I hear another word out of you you can tell your freind that she is no longer welcome."

"What the hell does it matter if she's not welcome. We're both leaving soon anyway."

"You are not leaving Melyssa, and consequences will befall you if you try."

"Like what consequences? You hitting me some more?"

"I'll pull you out of Hogwarts," Lucius said looking down at the paperson his desk.

Lyssa blinked at him. "You wouldn't dare," she said, thinking that he probably would. But, she continued on. "Wouldn't that look bad? I mean..."

Lucius ignored her. "Get out of my office, and if you take one step out of the grounds I will contact the school for the unenrollment forms."

Lyssa's eyes narrowed and her face pulled into a scowl. "I don't really give a damn. If you unenroll me that will look bad on you. Not me. Because I don't have a say in it."

"On the contary, it's better than the disgrace of having a Gryffindor for a daughter."

Lyssa's face darkened. "Well, then stop considering me your daughter, because as far as I'm concerned you are no father to me, Lucius."

Lucius stood up, walking around the table,holding his cane in his hand. "Do not talk to me in that tone," He snarled at her.

"And just what are you going to do about it?" Lyssa challenged. "I'm done being afraid of you. I told people I would handle this, and now I'm handling it."

"Are you?" Lucius sneered. "You useless child." He rapped her on the side of her arm with his cane, probably hiting a bruise that was faintly healing.

Lyssa winced slightly, but glared harshly, reaching out and grabbing a hold on the cane/stick. "Yeah, I am handling it," she said.

Lucius snarled, pulling his cane out of her grip. "Fine," He snapped. "You may go to Miss Evans'.

Lyssa gave Lucius a sarcastic smile. "Now what that so hard to say?"
