I'm Guessing You Can't Always Win

Lani bit her lip and looked at Taylor.

"Don't think you've wormed your way out of anything Kalani." Regan said watching her.

"I'm sure I don't know what you mean, Regan."

"Of course you don't," Reg said smirking.

"I honestly don't."

Regan looked at her an amused look on her face. "I," She said. "Am going to go and eat." And strolled out of the room before Lanihad to the chance to say anything back if she did have anything to say.

Lani frowned after Regan, but didn't move to follow.

Taylor moaned softly, her head leaning against the wall. She wanted to sleep but she still couldn't, and she was hungry, having not eaten in what, a day?

"I'm sorry about Regan," Lani muttered seemingly to no one. "But, at least you're not dead yet."

"Yet," Taylor murmered. "Probly be'er off dead than stuck 'ere."

"Better off dead than a lot of things, but you have family that needs you."

Taylor had to concerntrat eon her talking, so it didn't all slur into an incomprehensible mutter. "m ne'er gonna ge-t out oof ere ough."

Lani closed her eyes. "Yes, you will. Because, I do actually regret bringing you here to start. So, I'll get you out if it kills me."

Taylor mumbled something that even she couldn't understand.

"I have no idea what you just said...."

"Sleep," Taylor murmered straining to get her syllables out.

Lani frowned. "Well, for you to sleep, the spell would need taken off, and I don't know how to do that."

Taylor made another incomprehensible murmur.

"Sorry," Lani said.

Regan reentered the room a few hours later.

Lani, who hadn't ever let, looked at her.

"Yes?" Regan asked tilting her head to the side.

"Why are you back in here?"

"Just checking on things,"Reg said with a small smile.

"What could possibly need checked on?"
