"That's the one! Yeah, being the polite host," he nodded.

"Except you're not polite, so what's the point?" Sirius laughed. "Anyway, I want to get some candy."

"You just ate, but then, candy is always good."

"I didn't say I was gonna eat it now."

"You'll eat it anyway, once you are holding candy you just want to eat it."

"Yeah, yeah." They walked out from the store they flooed into.

And headed to the candy shop.

"Hey, Prongs. D'you see who I see? Over there?"

"Who? What? Where?" James glanced around.

Sirius grabbed James' face and turned it in the right direction. "That way, you idiot."

"Oh, hey Lily!" He grinned for a moment and then frowned. "What's Snivillus doing there?"

"Well, seeing as he and Lily are friends," Remus said, "it only makes sense for the two of them to be together."

James growled. "I don't know why," he muttered.

"Have you ever thought to ask her? Maybe she'd like you better if you took an interest in her life instead of solely being interested in her."

James stared at Remus for a few moments and then shrugged him off. "Let's go say hi," he said steering the group towards Lily and Sev.

Remus shook his head. "Idiot," he muttered.

"Hey Lily," he said when they reached them, ignoring Sev. Lily who had been talking to Severus turned at her name. "Oh," she said with a small frown. "Hi Potter."

"What do you lot want?" Severus asked, not much liking the Marauders just showing up from nowhere like they had.

"Oh, nothing," Sirius said. "Just saying hello to a couple classmates. Is that so wrong?"

"It's not a crime is it?" James asked with a sideways glance. "Saying hello."

"It should be," Lily muttered under her breath.

"Lily, we should go. It's getting late and my mum said before dinner." Really though, Sev just wanted to leave.

"Yeah," Lily said with a nod. "Works for me. Nothing really interesting here right now anyway."

James frowned at her. "Why do you hang out with him?" He asked rather bluntly.

"Because he's my friend," Lily said coldly.

"Yeah but-"

"James Potter, go away before I get expelled from Hogwarts for turning you into a newt," Lily snapped at him. "I was rather enjoying my day until you and your unpleasant face appeared," she shot him an irritated look, and turned on her foot.

Sev turned to go with her, shooting James a smirk over his shoulder that mostly just aimed to make the Potter angry.

"Well," James said glowering at Severus, he tried to shrug offhandedly and failed.
