Just a day like any.

Drew sat down. He started to eat, not interfering with Dem's plans. If he cut in to say hello, he would attract attention to himself, and Prongs would suggest that Demi test this salt on her best friend's food (or some nonsense like that). If he was not noticed or seen, he would get away with all of this and not be associated with anything. That was the plan. Demi was very clever, and got credit for being mischievous, but Drew had a secret plotting streak, too. It was the reason Demi kept him around--he was not nearly as boring or dull as he seemed.

Demi rolled her eyes at him. "Look, I'll try it again." She held out her hand but Potter hesitated, as if guessing that if she got the salt back she WOULD spike it. So instead he turned to the food he had placed on his plate and went to lightly tip the salt on to it. Instead pouring at least half the bottle. "Oops?" Demi replied with a careless shrug. "You must have accidently unscrewed the bottle."

Drew watched as the inevitable happened and the salt lid came unscrewed. No big surprise, there. He did not laugh or even acknowledge that anything had happened. That would be too suspicious. He just kept eating, even getting out his Arithmancy book out to study while Demi tried to convince Potter that it was his fault.

Finally, he decided it was time to cut in. Not to say anything about the situation itself, but to distract everyone.

"Lupin, are you ready for the Arithmancy test today?"

Potter gave Demi a furious look as he pushed his plate away, and grabbed a new one. With a look in his eye that told Demi that she had just signed herself up for something she was going to regret. Demi grinned at him and winked. "Your on," She mouthed as Drew interrupted. Lupin glanced up at Drew and nodded, looking somewhat relieved for the distraction. He didn't want his day to start with a food fight.

"Yes," He told Drew with a nod. About to say more before Black interrupted.

"If you weren't the moon would fall out of the sky, you've been studying for that test since you got it."

Drew grinned. "Me too. It's supposed to be one of the hardest tests of the year, from what I've heard. I've been stressing about it for weeks." He was glad to have effectively distracted everyone.

"And that," Demi said with a shake of her head. "Is why you do not do arithmancy. What are you going to use arithmancy for?"

Drew grinned. "Because it's interesting! Right, Remus?"

Demi rolled her eyes. "Interesting..." She said with a shake of her head. "Riiiiiight."

Remus nodded. "I think it is interesting."

"That's because you're a wet old sock," Black declared cheerfully.

Drew protested. "It really is interesting!"

Demi rolled her eyes. "You poor delusion Ravenclaw," She said sadly with a shake of her head.

Drew pouted. "I am not delusional. You're just a bloody Gryffindor with your need for pointless adventure." He turned to Remus, "No offense, Lupin."

Demi gave him a look of mock horror. Though she grinned which ruined it. "Pointless adventures are interesting Drew darling," She said. "Otherwise I'd be ridiculously bored. And I think we'd both agree that me bored is really never a good thing."

Drew grinned. "Any of you lot bored is never a good thing. Bloody Gryffindors."

Demi poked her tongue childishly out at him. "We make things entertaining," She said pushing her plate back. "You'd all be ridiculously bored without us Gryffindors."

Drew grinned. "I doubt that. We'd be finding our own adventures, which involve much less pain and detention."

"Pfft, you'd sit in the library all day, READING, about adventures. Which aren't nearly as much fun."

Drew protested. "Reading about adventures is living them in your mind! It's the same thing, really!"

Demi raised an eyebrow at him and shook her head. "No," She said. "It's nothing like it. I have NEVER found a book that shows truely how much adventures are. compared to how they really are."

Drew laughed. "Oh, and what would you know? You never read anything but textbooks, and even those you don't read willingly."

Demi poked out her tongue. "I have so. I read, uhm, uhm, whatchumacallit? Don't remember the title. But I do read...sometimes..."

Drew facepalmed. "It doesn't count if you don't even remember what it was called."

"It does so!" Demi said indignantly. 'I'm sure YOU can't always name the last book you've read."

"The Scorch Trials by James Dashner, and my arithmancy textbook," Drew said, with a hint of amusement in his calm voice.

Demi rolled her eyes. "I didn't say now. I said always. Sometimes people just can't remember the title of the book."

As they were talking, Drew noticed Sirius and James up to something. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the two boys smirking and fumbling around with something under the table. Remus was buried in his book and Peter was staring intently at his toast. Drew knew he had to warn Demi that something was up--the ensuing prank war seemed to be about to begin.

He gave Demi a wink and tilted his head slightly, their code for something big about to happen.
