Betrayal At Its Best

Lyssa followed Cassie to the house, feeling worse with each step. Having since let go of the block on her emotions like Cassie had said to do, she'd been feeling really bad about a lot of things, which before hadn't meant anything to her. It was why she had to do this now.

"Mum?" Cassie called softly as she walked furthur into the house, after shutting the door behind her and Lyssa. She enteed the kitchen and was nearly tackled to the floor as he mum hugged her fiercly. "Oh Cassie," She said. "Mum, can't breath." Cassie muttered hugging her mother back. "Sorry dear," Her mother said loosening her hug. "It's alright Mum. I missed you."

Lyssa stood back, trying to force herself to blend in with the wall, although that wasn't ever going to work. She sudden had the feeling of just how bad an idea this was, but there was nothing to do about it now.

"Mum," Cassie said softly pulling out from her hug. "Try not to freak okay?" Sam's eyes narrowed as she looked at her daughter. "Cassandra," She said in a warning tone. Cassie glanced at the floor for a moment. Which was when Sam looked past her daughter and saw Lyssa. She hissed and it was only Cassie who caught her arm which stopped Lyssa from probably nearly getting beaten to death. "Cassandra." Sam said as Cassie kept her grip on her arm. "No mum, I'm not letting go." Sam turned on her daughter which was when the yelling started. "WHY IS SHE HERE? DO YOU NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR SISTER." "OF COURSE I CARE." Cassie shouted back at her, doing her best to keep her hands firmly griped on Sam's arm. Sam pulled out though Cassie got out her wand and caused a barrier between Lyssa and her Mum so Sam couldn't get to it. "Cassandra Evans," Her mother hissed at her. "Lower that this istant." "No."

Lyssa looked down at the ground as the mother and daughter argued. She figured it was best to keep quiet at the moment. Once it had quieted down just a little, Lyssa looked back up. "Sam..." she started to say, but stopped, feeling as though what she wanted to say would set the adult off again.

"What?!" Sam shouted at her. Cassie was actually pretty glad there wasnt anything in arms reach that she could throw. "Why do you even have the face to turn up here? You killed my daughter. As if puting her in harms reach wasnt bad enough!"

"I know what I did!" Lyssa snapped. "You don't have to tell me!" She stopped again, forcing herself to calm down. She didn't want to blow this more than it already was. "I just...I know this won't mean anything to you, but I just came here to say that I'm sorry. I know this doesn't fix or change anything. I know that you hate me. But I had to say it nonetheless."

Instead of shouting back like Cassie expected her mother to she broke down and cried. Thinking that it was safe too Cassie hugged her mum again and just about forced her out of the room. Her mothers attempts not to be dragged along were pityful but that was just because she had lost her energy. "I'll be back in a bit mum," Cassie said shutting the door to her mothers room closed behind her. She reentered the kitchen with a sigh, running her hand through her hair.

Seeing Cassie's mum cry made Lyssa just want to sit down and curl her knees to her chest. But that wouldn't be an appropriate actions, so she stood there, hair twisted so tightly around her index finger that she felt as though the circulation was getting cut off. Once Cassie had returned from removing her mum from the room Lyssa said, "This was a horrid idea."

"Maybe," Cassie said with a sigh, she looked around the kitchen, it had changed a while since she had last been here. But not a lot, mostly just pictures on the walls and random bits and bobs on the bench. She ran a hand through her hair. "She'll calm down eventually."

"It doesn't matter if she calms down or not," Lyssa said, looking out the kitchen's window. "I can't take back what I did, as much as I wish I could. Death would have to be the one thing that magic can't fix..."

Cassie wasn't too sure what to say in responce to that so didn't say anything. She jsut looked at her feet awkwardly.

Lyssa stood around the kitchen for a while, debating whether she should leave or not. A smallish part of her said that would be the best idea, but another part told her to stay put right where she was.

Cassie and Lyssa sat in the kitchen for a while, Cassie wondered what time her Dad was going to get home and what his reaction would be like. As things happened Sam had woken up before her Dad got home. She entered the kitchen, greeting Cassie and ignoring Lyssa all together.

Lyssa, who had been previously looking at the floor, looked up as Sam entered the room. Then she went back to looking down, figuring it would be best not to set the adult off again. She just kept twirling her hair around her finger.

"Want anything to eat Cassie?" Sam asked opening the fridge and rummaging inside it. "Yes please." Cassie said softly, she looked sideways at Lyssa asking the girl whether she wantedsomething to eat.

Lyssa didn't look up from the spot on the floor she had her eyes trained on, and so missed Cassie's look. She just sat there, unmoving and silent, still not wanting to leave for whatever reason held her there.

"Want something to eat Lyssa?" Cassie asked her with a slight frown. Lyssa was acting kind of dead, for want of a better word, and Cassie didn't really like it.

Lyssa looked up as Cassie asked her a question. She shook her head, then changed to looking out the window rather than at the floor.

Cassie nodded taking the sandwhich her mum had made her and taking a bite of it with a slight frown. "Dad's going to be home soon," Sam said absentmindedly, Cassie nodded and frowned. She wasn't too sure how her dad was going to react to Lyssa being there. Probably less dramatic then her mums.

While Lyssa actually didn't like being ignored most times, right now she was pretty sure she preferred it. Although, she was concerned about what would happen when Cassie's dad showed up home from work.

Cassie finished her sandwhich, she spirialed the small bread crumbs around the table with her finger. "Want to go upstairs Lyssa?" Cassie asked her, her mum ignoring Lyssa was making her feel a little uncomfortable with the pressure in the room.

Lyssa shrugged a little, but moved to get up from her chair as Cassie did.

The two gets headed up stairs, Cassie sighed frowning slightly as she past Lizzie's room. The door was shut which it had never really been. Lizzie for some odd reason liked to keep it open. Cassie entered her room and sat down on the bench. Leaning back onto the wall.

Lyssa followed Cassie to her room, going in and standing by the wall by the door. She wasn't in the mood to sit at the moment, and also if someone (such as Cassie's dad) were to walk in then he or she wouldn't notice Lyssa for a moment. As she was standing there, Lyssa sneezed a couple of times, figuring it was because Cassie hadn't been in the room in a while.
