*Lilly*
Me and Sab walked down to the lake laughing. I was happy it was Saturday we needed a break. I slipped of my shoes and socks and walked a little way into the water.

"It'scold." I complained smiling at Sab.

"It's been colder." Sab replied back. I grinned and walked further out.

"Lilly." I heard someone yell. I turned around and saw Severus walking towards us. Sab rolled her eyes.

"I don't see why your freinds with him." She murered. I smiled at her but walked out of the lake to see Sev.

"Hey Sev, how are you I havn't seen you in a while. Pity we didn't get a chance to catch up on the holidays." I said smiling at him.

"Yea." He replied edgilly looking over his shoulder.

"Whats up?" I asked him. " Is it Potter and his Morons of freinds?" I asked. Sev smiled but nodded. Sab laughed.

"He liked you Lilly,"

"I know and I don't care hes too much of a showoff." I rolled my eyes. "Don't worry Sev." He nodded again and looked over his shoulder. he gulped slightly. I sighed seeing Potter.

"Show off." I muttered.

*Remus* (squeee first post as Remus)

I laughed as Padfoot ran circles around me, occasionally leaning down and growling as if he were in his Animagi form. As we got closer to the lake, I noticed that James was looking off into the distance, staring at something. My first instincts told me it would probably be Lily or Snape, and sure enough it turned out to be both of them. I stepped aside from Sirius and patted him on the shoulder. "It's gonna be OK, mate. She's just got no taste." I gave him a weak smile and hoped he would return it, but he only sighed and shook his head.

"I just don't understand what she seems in him. I'm good-looking, I'm athletic, I'm popular, I do well in class..."

"Maybe that's not what she's looking for, then. Maybe she's looking for exactly the opposite of you, because I think that's what Sev...Snivvelus is. Besides, why do you assumed she fancies him? You know as well as I do that they've been friends since before Hogwarts." I added jealously, "Just like you and Sirius."

James, not even listening, began to walk closer to the lake. I knew this was trouble. Peter trailed after him, and with two of us going I figured we all should. Padfoot straightened up and walked alongside me. "He's really got it bad, man," he said, looking with pity at James, who seemed to be growing angrier with each step. I looked over at him and wondered if he knew that James wasn't the only one who had it bad.

*Padfoot*

James looked really annoyed. I smiled at him.

"Dont worry. You deserve better then her." I said smiling at him again. He ignored me and kept walking towards the lake.

"This isn't good." I muttered to Moony. He nodded. Wormtail looked tied but excited to see waht James was going to do this time.


*Lily*

I nearly swore when I saw Potter and his friends coming towards us.


"Jerks." I muttered, Sev turned around and scowled.


"Evans." Potter yelled. I ignored him. Sab laughed,


"He won't give up Lil."


"I figured." I said annoyed then wadded back into the water. Sev stood at the edge slightly annoying slightly anxious.

James pranced up to the side of the side of the lake as if her were king of the world. "Sab, Mistress Lily,....Snape," he said, forcing the name out as if it physically hurt him to use his real name instead of some sort of insult. He remained quiet for a moment, but I saw in his eyes that he had something smarty to say, and finally he couldn't hold it in any longer. "Why aren't you going for a swim with these lovely ladies? I know you're not too keen on washing your hair, but honestly, the lake is nothing like a bath."

Padfoot snorted behind me and I quietly held my laughter in, pulling at some loose threads at the bottom of my jumper. It was really too warm out to be wearing a sweater, but they were the least worn of all my clothes and I looked less poor and ragged this way.

*Padfoot*

I snorted. Seriosly? Sometimes Prongs was just an idiot. I wondered how Lily would reply.

*Lily*

"I have an idea Potter, why dont you go for a swim it might drown out some of your fat headiness." I retorted. I hated it when Potter annoyed Sev, I hated Potter. He was so full of himself. Always ruffling his hair and hexing anything and everything. To prove my point he ruffled his hair. I sighed pulling my robes up abit to I could venture further into the lake without getting it wet.

I could already tell this was going to end badly. It really seemed that Lily truly hated Prongs, which was a shame, as he was positively mad for her. I wasn't sure quite when it had happened, but it was so obvious now to everyone that it had come to be a bit of a joke. Chasing after a bird who didn't like you would often end with you being told to stop "pulling a Potter" and go away.
James looked downtrodden for a moment but then his face lit up. I groaned. James was excellent at school marks but he wasn't the sharpest fang in the basilisk, if you know what I mean. I watched unbelievingly as he shucked his shirt and shoes and walked closer to the like. "I think that's an excellent idea, Lovely Lily." He said, and immediately took a big leap and dove into the water, which was much too shallow for that type of thing. He surfaced close to Lily and smiled up at her.

I groaned as Water splashed up and hit me. So much for keeping dry. I sighed and had to stop myself for wacking Potter on the head as he deserved. Sab grinned and wadded out of the lake she had been behind me so I had shielded most of the water from hitting her. I followed her out and wrung out my clock.

"You are an Idiot Potter," I said to him. Sev laughed.

*Padfoot*

I groaned but laughed at the same time. James would do anything to impress that girl, but she was't impressed. I had to say splashing her with water wasn't the smatest idea if you wanted a girl to like you. I laughed at the look on James' face as she walked out of the lake. I grinned. It was funny when Lily insulted James. Snivvles laughed which knoeing James would not go down well.

I glanced over at Padfoot as he made a strange noise between amusement and exasperation. I knew he enjoyed when James got told off by Lily, probably because Padfoot never had any trouble with girls. Then again, he had never gone after Evans, which was of course against some kind of weird unspoken law that you don't go after a bird that your best mate fancies. I had never really understood how all these silent rules came around, but that one had never bothered me, as I wasn't particularly after any girls.

I turned my head sharply away from Sirius when I hear Snape laugh. This wasn't going to be good.

"Oh, so little Greaseball thinks it funny, do yeh?" James asked wading back to the edge of the lake. "All I hear are smart comments and the like from you. Why don't you be a real man and defend your girl, as she seems to be? And if she's not, I know you fancy her! You're nothing but a coward; at least I try." He popped up out of the lake and grabbed onto his shirt, turning to face his enemy again. "You're not even going to do anything about me saying that, are you?" he asked, obviously provoking the boy. I slowly backed away and tried to bring Padfoot with me, but he was eagerly awaiting a duel or at least a fight.

I bit my lip still smiling this was funny.

*Lily*

"Coward?" Sev laughed. "You need three freinds behind you before you have the guts to attack a first year. and Anyway Potter she doesn't like you in case you never notied, maybe your so full of yourself that you don't"


*Padfoot*

I grinned and walked forward to stand next to lupin.

"I'm betting Lily wins again, waht do ya think?"I asked him grinning. Lupin rolled his eyes but was watching intently even though he wouldn't try to stop it if something happened. Some Prefect.

"Of course Lily's going to win, when has she ever not? I'd be barmy to take a bet like that, especially off you Padfoot. You'd probably make me fork over all my chocolate." I grinned at him quickly before I turned back towards the action.
James flicked a piece of hair from his eyes and stalked closer to Snape. "I may be full of myself, but at least I can see past the end of my own nose. That's probably why you haven't made a move on Lily yet, you can't even see what you have with her. At least I'd appreciate her instead of hanging around with the slime you associate with!"
I glanced at Padfoot, wondering how he was reacting to all of this. He had been amused earlier, but he was starting to look worried, his grey eyes stormy. My heart fluttered a little before I reminded myself that it was pointless and stupid to act like a girl mooning over a bloke. "Do you think we ought to do something?" I asked quietly.

*Lily*

My eyes squinted. Seb smiled enjoying the action. She loved watching the boys fight over me. I found it compleatly irksome expecially with Potter. I got up walked towards the boys and punched James in the jaw,

"Git." I muttered turning around and waked off towards my shoes to slip them on. Seb grinned at me and I smiled at her drying my feet.

*Padfoot*

"Exactly, what else would I want?" I asked wondering what was going to happen next.Lupin grinned I looked back at Peter who looked as if he was about to fall alseep. I snorted.

"Wake up. Wormy." I said. Then turned back round to the action. James flinched,

"What I miss when I turned around for half a second?" I asked lupin.

"Lily Punched Prongs."

I laughed and sat down under the tree. Smiling. James was such an idiot some times.

"Oh, I can think of a few things I'd want more than chocolate," I said, winking, then feeling embarassed as Sirius gave me a look of shock. I was famous for my love for chocolate, and I'd just said something that could have been construed as dirty. That was doubly out of character for me.
When Lily punched James, I found myself caught between doing something and taking points from her (which wouldn't have been very smart, taking points from my own house, even though as a prefect I could) or just laughing as James finally got what was coming to him. James looked extremely incredulous and simply stared at Lily, not knowing whether to scream or break down and cry. I simply sat down next to Padfoot, elbowing Peter who then blinked at me and grumbled slightly.

*Padfoot*

"More then Chocolate?" I asked agog then smiled slightly grinning at James who looked so upset it was funny.

"I'll get you back for that Evans." He shouted at her. Lily ignored him and did up her shoes. Brushing her vivid red hair beind her ear. She was quite pretty I'd give her that.

*Lily*

Sev smiled at me and laughed at James whoch got him enfuriated.

"Ill get you back for that Evans." He replied angrilly.

"Yea because getting me back is really going to get me to like you." I said sarcasticly. Sev snorted and I smiled at him.

"Well, I can't hit a girl, so that means I can't lay a hand on your nor your dear Snivellus, but I will find revenge. And you'll be so impressed that you'll instantly fall head over heels for me," James said, and it was such bad logic that I couldn't help but fall over laughing, directly onto Padfoot's right knee, which hurt so much that it knocked the breath right out of me. I rubbed my arm and poked at him as he doubled over. I couldn't tell whether he was laughing at me or James, or both, but I immediately insisted that he had knobby knees and should do something to fix that.
Snape gave his usual sneer to James and then turned to Lily, smiling as if she were his sun. Which I suppose she could have been, with that outrageously auburn hair that was the first thing you noticed when she walked into a room.
"I assume there's no reason for us to hang about here. It's become inhabited by vermin," he said, giving a glance at James, and then turning towards Sirius, Peter, and I. I gave him a rude hand gesture and he simply smirked.

"Ahh well then I shouldn't have hit you as you are a girl." I said. "Come on Sev, Sab." I said motioning to the others. I started to walk off shaking my head and Lupin and Black who was laughing so hard.

*Padfoot*

I was already laughing when Moony fell on me.

"You idiot." I chuckled roaring with laughter. I was laughing so hard that I missed both James' and Lily's come back but by the hurt expression on James' face I supposed Lily had hitten him hard. I chuckles then watched as Lily, Sab and Snivvles walked off towards the castle.

"Now what?" I asked James cocking my head to one side.

James slowly lifted his shoulders in a shrug that I could tell wasn't genuine. "Part of me really wants to go sulk in a corner somewhere, but that sounds a little too Slytherin for our tastes. How about we go make some mischief?" he asked, grinning roguishly. I could never understand how he got over things so quickly. Honestly, he and Padfoot were the most happy-go-lucky people I knew. Even Peter rarely moped about anything for longer than a few minutes, unless James had said something upsetting, in which case he would go upstairs and sleep for a while until he'd forgotten all about it.
"I really don't think that's such a good idea, mate. Shouldn't we be studying for our OWLs?" As soon as it was out of my mouth, all three of my best friends laughed at me, and I remembered that, in this group, I was always going to be the odd one out. Padfoot patted me on the shoulder and reassured me that I was going to pass whether I studied or not, and besides they were months away. They were good reasons, but I could tell he was only making them because he was looking forward to running off and getting in trouble.

*Padfoot*

"Come on Moony you're gonna pass anyway. Lets have some fun." I grinned mischevally. "Oh yea I was meaning to as you whens the next full moon?" I wonderered I really wanted to get out as A dog with the other, we really couldn't do that unless Moony was a wolf as it left him out.

"So what do you think we should do Prongs?" I asked him he grinned evily as he came up with something to do. Lupin looked half as if he should join in enthusiasticly or help out as his role of prefect.

"It's in about four days," I replied, feeling a mixture of feelings over the situation. Transforming was horrible, and there was always the fear that something terrible was going to happen, but I also loved being able to run wild with my friends. It was such a freeing experience, compared to the calm, sheltered way I lived my life. I smiled as James and Prongs started talking about different ways to probably get us all detention for a year. Well, except for me, since teachers rarely thought that I was truly involved in any of the mischief being made.
"How about we do something to Severus?" I asked, and hoped that this was a good idea. I was never very good at coming up with ideas for things like this, as it wasn't my style until I'd come across this pack of boys.

I snorted. "Then we can watch Lily hit James again if shes anywhere around." He chuckles. Prongs growled but half heatedly.

"Ok lets go find Snivvy."He said getting up. I rolled my eyes as we started to walk towards the school. I saw Snivvy sitting down on the steps and nudged Prongs, it was hislukcy day Lily wasn't about to spoil it. James' face lit up like christmas had come early.

Wormtail looked scared and I laughed, "Relax wormy." I said. then to Moony. "Four days? well that good." Igrinned at him.

I followed after my friends as we made our way towards Snape. He was muttering to himself and scribbling in a book, which appalled me. How dare he harm something so precious? I realized how nerdy that sounded, even to myself, and realized that I really ought to make an effort to be less snooty and more like a real Marauder.
"Yeah, Pads, it's going to be fun, like always," I said, smiling at him. The nights were always fun, but the next day was always my favorite day of the month. McGonagall let one of the boys out on those days, and sometimes it was Padfoot that came instead of Peter, and I'd just lay in my hospital bed, Padfoot in the chair next to me, laughing about nothing. It was probably the happiest I ever was, despite being bruised up with scratches all across my body.
"Oi, Snivelly," James yelled, once we were in earshot. "I'm here to get back for your high and mighty remarks earlier. And," he looked around dramatically, "your little Xena, warrior princess isn't around to protect you."

I snorted at James, he was an idiot.

"Now who do you bet for?" I asked Moony casualy.

Snivvy turned around and scowled.

I grinned. "This is going to get interesting." I muttered laughing. Wormy still looked half alseep. I grinned and poked him with my wand.

"Wake up Wormy this is where the real fun starts."

Sev opened his mouth so say something, shut it then opened it again.

Wormtail realized that something involving James's safety was going on and finally perked up. "Are we taking bets this time around?" he asked, digging in his pocket to collect his change. "I have 8 sickles and....3 knuts." He held them out in his hand.
Padfoot and I glanced at each other and laughed. "Sorry, mate, you know I'm broke," I said, shrugging. "I can only pay in chocolate. And with Pads living out at James's, I doubt he's got much dough either. Then again, the Potters might be sharing some of that rich folk money with him after all."
Padfoot frowned at me and I felt bad. He still didn't like for us talk about leaving home, although he didn't regret it at all. He and James were best mates (which regularly bothered me) and it seemed natural for them to live together, especially since the Potters loved him already and had such a nice house. I did often wish that I was rich enough or good enough for him to have come to stay with me. "Personally, if we're betting, I put 3 bags of Honeyduke's Ghoul Fudge into the pot," I added, still wanting to make a bet, even if I didn't have money to be throwing around.

I grinned chocolate. "Lets see waht do I have on me, I'll through in 8 sickles and a knut,"

"Ok so who are you betting for,"

"James." Squeeked Wormy.

"Lupin?" I asked.

He stood there evaluating the scence before replying.

*Lily*

I left Sev outside the door and went to the library with Sab, we both had charms homework we needed to get finished.

"Potters so annoying." I grumbled.

Sab laughed. "He fancy's you Lil."

"I realized." I sighed. "But doesn't he get I dont like him?"

"No." Sab laughed. I smiled at her.

I carefully considered my two options. 16 sickles and 4 knuts were almost a galleon, plenty of money to me, plus I wanted to keep all of my fudge to myself. I glanced back and forth between Prongs and Snape and nodded decisively. "Snape," I said, and Peter frowned disapprovingly of me. Sometimes I thought that, out of all us, Peter was the one I most identified with. We were both following after a set of best mates, wishing for the best. Peter was endlessly jealous of Sirius, wishing to be James's best friend, and I was endlessly jealous of James, wishing to be....I'm not even sure. Not best mates, we were already that, even though James was Padfoot's first best mate.

I weighed up the options.

"Im going with Snivvly." I said. Wormy looked slightly annoyed that we;d beted against him as he usually lost when all the bets were against him.

"Tough luck mate." I said grinning. "Now lets watch."

Snivvy must mave said something to annoy James because he looked so furious it was comical. I grinned.

"Your one to talk Snivilous." He barked.
