Changing World

Lyssa flinched a little at Cassie words. "Cassie," she said, wishing the girl would just stop packing things away.

"What?" Cassie asked turning to face her. A frustrated look on her face. "What do you want Lyssa?"

Lyssa flinched again. "For you to not leave," she muttered as an answer, sounding downright pitiful to her own ears. She couldn't even imagine what she sounded like to Cassie.

"Oh really?" Cassie asked staring at her. "Because yesterday you kicked me out. Make up your fricken mind will you?"

"I told you! I wasn't thinking yesterday!" Lyssa said, suddenly feeling quite small.

"According to you, you're never thinking when you say comments like that. Or act like you did. For all I fricken know it's a cover-up."

"It's not. I swear. Cass, you know me."

Cassie looked at her. "Actually Lyssa, I don't know you at all." She turned her back on the girl. Going back to packing.

Lyssa frowned. "How could you not know me? We've known each other for over seven years."

"Because you are not the person I met on the train. I don't even know if you ever were her, or just pretending. But you've changed Lyssa."

"Well, it's not like you haven't changed, or do you still have the mentality you did at eleven?"

Cassie looked at her. "A subtle change from then to here isn't what I mean Lyssa. You didn't slowly change. Your personality fricken jumped." Cassie shut her case. Looking around the room to make sure she had everything important.

Lyss noticed her close the case. "Cassie, please don't leave," she said, voice turning pleading.

"And why ever not?" Cassie asked standing up and holding the case in her hand.

"Because you're my best friend," Lyssa answered quite pathetically.

"And that," Cassie said. "Is where you are wrong."

Lyssa looked at Cassie, confusion clearly written across her face, but she couldn't find her voice to speak it.

"You're not my best freind Lyss, I don't know if you actually ever were. You've never been there for me, not once. In fact, you've done quite the opposition. You abused the fact that I was there, that I am there for my freinds without giving a care about the fact that you aren't there for me. How many times have I needed you? And how many of those times were you actually there? I've caught you when you've fell, but whenever I needed someone to catch me, you were always ahead, falling and tripping yourself over."

Any words Lyssa had thought of froze in her throat and she made a little hiccup noise that only happened when she knew she'd lost.

Cassie glanced around the room once more. "I'd appriate it if you could send the rest of the stuff over the mums, or I'll get her to come and get it. And If I get any mail send that over too." Cassie half dragged the case out of her room.

"I'm not going to your mum's. She'd probably sooner hex me than let me in right now," Lyssa muttered.

"And whose fault is that?"

"It' my fault," Lyssa said. "I'm not stupid enough not to know that."

Cassie shrugged. "I'll tell her not to kill you just so I can get my stuff back." She got to the open door, and could see Emma in the car. Listening to something on the radio and looking in the direction of the road.

"I'm still not going over there," Lyssa said.
