Changing World

"Lyssa, no. I've given you chances, I should have walked out YEARS ago. But I didn't, because at that stage I'd already been pulled in too deep. And because there was no-one else at fricken Hogwarts that I could have hung about with. You saw that, when you started acting like a bleeding Slytherin. I wasted seven years of my life in that place, I nearly left in third year because that was when I decided I didn't want to be a witch, I didn't want magic to have a big impact on my life. When I decided I would rather be a god- damn muggle. But, you know why I stayed. For four more fricken bloody years? Becaues of you. Because for some fricken fucking reason, I did not want to lose you. And I haven't got a fricken clue why. I kept giving you chances, because you kept saying you were sorry and you didn't mean to. And I believed you, because I trusted you. But you never, you never really showed that you were sorry. Oh, you said you were, I've lost count of the times you said you were. But you never did anything to prove that to me. Which is why I'm going. Because I am sick of being hurt, I am sick of thinking that you are going to change. And I'm sick of being disapointed when you don't. So stop telling me that you want to make amends, because you had your chance, seven years of it. And you didn't take it."

Lyssa felt nauseous now. "Just let me try, Cassie. Let me take all of those chances now. I'll make good on every fucking last one of them."

"No, because I'm not taking the chance of falling again. And, why. Why should I?"

"Because," Lyssa said getting off the couch and on the floor. "I'm on my knees begging you to let me."

"But it's not going to make any difference to me Lyss, you might need me. But I don't need you. And I can make do without you as I could with."

Lyssa clenched her hands on her lap. "Just let me do this. You don't have to need it."

"No, because I've promised myself, and I've promised Emma, that I'm done giving you chances." Cassie pulled her case out of the door.

Lyssa got up from where she was and walked over, grabbing the handle on the case, although the grip wasn't strong. She was shaking too badly to be strong right now. "Just one last chance. And if I screw this one up you can walk out and I won't fight it this time," she said. "Please." Her voice cracked on the word, as if she were fighting to keep any composure at all.

"Lyssa, I can't. You know me, I don't break my promises." She continued pulling her case to the car.

Lyssa couldn't find her voice to respond. She just slid down to the ground, knees hitting the concrete porch of the house painfully. She didn't seem to noticed though. "No, you don't break promise," she said finally. "You just break other things. But, I'm done trying. I won't win. You've won, okay."

"At least I don't break both," She opened the boot of her car pulling the trunk inside.

"I get it. I already said you fucking won. I've fallen down and there's no one to help me up this time. So, you can stop reminding me," Lyssa said, chest convulsing with a sharp sob.

Cassie shut the boot, going over the drivers seat, she opened the door and looked at Lyssa. "That, is exactly how I felt for parts of the last seven years, and Lyssa," She got into the car, her hand on the door about to pull it shut. "You were one of the best people I met, but, sometimes, even I need to stop fighting for a lost cause." And she pulled the car door shut.

Lyssa clenched her eyes shut, not bothering to fight the sobs or the tears anymore. Her right hand clutched her shirt around where her heart was in her chest as it twinged painfully. If this was how she'd made Cassie feel then when she died she was surely going to hell, if she wasn't there already.

Cassie pulled out of the drive, her eyes watching Lyssa in the rear-view. Which caused her to take her eyes off of the road and drive into the fence. "Bugger crap," She said reversing out of the garden and fence and hoping she didn't dint the car because her mum would kill her. "Nice ending Cassie," She muttered to herself. "Driving into a fence, jesus christ." She pulled out of the drive again, looking forward though her mind was on Lyssa.

Lyssa just sat there and bawled her eyes out, opening them once, just long enough to see Cassie drive off. Her knees were throbbing and probably bloody and bruised, but she didn't honestly give a fuck about them at the moment.

Cassie drove home, and because she knew that Lyssa wouldn't be in the best mood but didn't want to go back there. She did something she never thought she would have ever done. She wrote to Draco.

Draco sent her a letter back a few days later, saying that Lyssa had not only tried to keep him out of the house, but had thrown several things at him.

Cassie sighed in frustration. She didn't want to head back there, but she wasn't sure if Lyssa was okay.

Lyssa was running out of things to throw at Draco.

(So I compromised with Cassie, she's going back, but just to make sure Lyssa is fine. Cassie is impossible and doesn't appriate us changing our minds a lot -_-)

Cassie sighed, sitting at her desk. She blinked realizing (I did it with a z again -_-) that Lyssa had done something for her. She'd saved her from Sectumsempra. Though considering she probably wouldn't have died because the counter would have been there regardless but...she sighed. Now she owed it to Lyssa to go back. But, she didn't really want to. She apperated to outside Emma's and dnged the bell. Emma came out and the two sat on the porch talking. Cause Cassie had no clue what to do. Emma sighed. "Okay," She said. "I still think that you would be better off without her, but, in this istance, I guess you'll have to give her a chance. I guess you owe her that much. Just one though. And if she screws that up, get the hell out of there." Cassie nodded and Emma heaeded inside. Cassie apperating again to outside Lyssa's. She was somewhat wishing she hadn't left the key when she knocked on the door.

Lyssa, who had just gotten rid of Draco once again, looked at the door, but didn't move to get it. It wasn't locked anyway. Instead, she just sort of poked at the bandages on the knuckles of her left hand, having punched the mirror in the hall earlier and cut them open. She mostly just wanted to be left alone, but Draco seemed to have other thoughts on the matter and made sure to drop by at least once a day.

Cassie tried the handel, seeing that it was open. She wavered before she opened the door, wondering whether she really should and wondered what she would find inside. She looked at the door, and then pushed it open. Hoping Lyssa wouldn't think she was Draco and throw something at her.

Lyssa looked at Cassie, contemplating on throwing the glass of water that Draco had left on the table by the couch. She decided not to for a moment, waiting to find out why the other girl was even there, wrapping her hand around the glass just in case.

Cassie looked at the glass in the girl's hand. "Don't throw it," She said shutting the door behind her and looking around the room. It was a mess, and that was putting it mildly.
