Do You Know Your Enemy?

"The one you stole," She replied about to grab another book out of her bag and whack him over the head with it. He was just too infuriating to stand next to without wanting to throw something at him. Pity there weren't any chairs around.

Cor sighed. "Don't get violent, now, Lesley. It really does not become you."

Lesley narrowed her eyes. "Give me back my book." She said with a frown, wondering how long she had until the first class.

"What class is it for?" Cor asked, wondering out loud more than anything. He had had the book for so long, but he had not even bothered to really look at it. He really just had focused more on taking the book and keeping it to himself, instead of giving it back. Had to get the girl's attention somehow. "Because if it is for the class I think it is, we have that one together. Why should I give it back?"

"Because It's mine?" Lesley suggested her eyes flaring, ignoring the first question for the time being. She did not get how someone could be so frustrating, she usually ignored people when they bothered her, but she couldn't at this point. As she did need her book back, and ignoring Corey was not going to get her her book back.

"What subject?" Cor asked bluntly.

"Transfiguration," Lesley replied. "What difference does it make what class it is?"

"Ahhh. Transfiguration. Lovely class, that one. Great thing about that class is, besides the fact that I am in it, it is mostly practical application. The notes are all from the chalkboard. Brilliant, eh?"

Lesley narrowed her eyes further. "That," She said talking through her teeth. "Is beside the point. I need that book to finish my theory work."

"You can just copy mine, if you really want. I have the answer book--I know for a fact it is all correct." Cor winked mischievously.

"I'm not cheating. Now give me back my book."

"Oh dear. Listen to you. You've never done a thing wrong in your entire life, have you? You're naive. Innocent."

"Basically, you know nothing about the world. What a pity. Someday you'll have to grow up. Live a little. You might be surprised at what you find."

Lesley whacked herself in the face with her hand, careful not to do it too hard, because as she ahd learnt before. That hurt a lot. "Just give me back my book," She said. "I really don't give a damn if the world is full of idiots who cheat at everything. I'm entitled to do things how I want to."

Cor smirked. "Just like I am entitled to do things the way I want to. And I want to keep your book and watch you flounder around in a panic. Relax. You worry far too much about the most stupid things, honeycheeks."

"Oh my god," Lesley exclaimed frustrated. "You are so infuriating!"

Cor rolled his eyes. "No more infuriating than you are. I've never met anyone so determined to live a boring life. Ever."

"I'm not living a boring life," Lesley said.

"Oh really? What was the last thing you did that was not programmed into your everyday routine. When was the last time you broke the rules. When was the last time you did something exciting?"

"What's that got to do with anything?" Lesley asked raising an eyebrow. "I can enjoy myself while abiding by rules."

"Oh, I'm sure you can. Because you're a dreadfully boring person living a dreadfully boring life. You're afraid of anything you aren't used to. So, you're perfectly content to live in your nice little life, where nothing goes wrong and everyone does what they're told. I have suspected for a while that your subconscious is bored stiff, but it is suppressed by your absolute need for comfort, control, and safety."

Lesley stared at him. She'd never had someone say that to her before. She frowned at him, quite at a loss for words for a few moments. "Regardless of what my subconious may want," She said. "Which, you are in no position to tell me what it wants, I want my book back. As it's mine. And you've stolen it. And it'd be nice if people didn't take my things."

"Nope. Not giving back your book right now. In fact, I don't feel like giving it back at all. Come back and find me when you learn to be an adult. You know, take a few risks, actually live outside your nice little cocoon. I'll give it back then." Cor yawned and sauntered off to his dorm.

"Fine," Lesley muttered as she went to grab something to eat. "I'll just tell the teacher you've stolen my book." She grumbled sitting down and grabbed some toast, covering it with jam. Thinking that some idiot was not going to tell her how to live her life. What did it matter to him, anyway? It's not like he had to be any part of her life.

Cor sighed, idly flicking his wand and sealing the door off to Les. The teachers would not do anything, but it was best that they did not get involved. The less attention, the better. "Come now, Les. You can't even fight your own battles? You are not five years old, running to Mrs. Teacher for help, are you? You're certainly acting like it."

"Oh fuck you," Lesley swore, beyond irritated to even try to continue being somewhat pleasant. "Give give me my freaking book. Okay? Seriously." Lesley huffed. "I can fight my own battles, but you are too much of an idiot to even bother trying. And I'd rather spend as little time around you as I can."
