Some Things Are Easier Said Then Done

Cassie Evans sat in the Gryffindor common room looking into the fire with a sigh. She had a mound of homework sitting on the table in front of her but she didn't want to do it. She had all weekend anyway, even if the coming weekend was a Hogsmead weekend. The first she was allowed to go to. Not that she hadn't been before. She sighed leaned back into the chair and wondering where Lyssa was. Lyssa was her best freind and the two of them had been basicly inseperable since they had met on the Hogwarts express two years ago.

Lyssa Malfoy frowned as she walked through the halls of Hogwarts, running her hand through her hair every so often. She probably should be in the common room doing her homework, but she had other things on her mind at the moment. She'd noticed shortly after entering Hogwarts first year that she would sometimes suddenly act like a Malfoy- not to say she wasn't a Malfoy, she just never acted like one- rather than her normal self. But, she'd never thought to actually tell someone about it until just recently. She had actually been hoping that someone would notice and ask about it. Although, no one ever had. Was there a possibility that people would think she was going mad? Probably. She probably was in fact, switching personalities as she did. Sighing, Lyssa made her way up the last set of stairs before the Gryffindor common room. She walked to the portrait and gave the password, walking in the room.


(I think Cassie is going to be the first person Lyssa tells)

Cassie looked up as someone entered the common room and smiled when she saw it was Lyssa. She frowned though and could tell there was something up with the girl. Cassie opened her mouth to ask her what it was and then wondered if she should or not, Lyssa sometimes got rather annoyed when she persisted that there was something up. And Cassie didn't realy want an arguement. Instead she settled for. "What's up?"

Lyssa looked over as she heard Cassie's voice asking her a question. She ran her hand through her hair for the millionth time that day and asked, "Have you ever noticed that maybe I don't seem like myself sometimes? Times when I seem more like Draco?" Then she stopped, thinking at how ridiculous the questions sounded to her ears, and she wondered just what Cassie was thinking about them.

"Um," Cassie said with a frown thinking that it was actually a rather odd question to be asked. Then realising that Lyssa was still looking at her she answered. "Well yeah. You did a lot first year but not as frequently recently." She frowned again thinking of it, she usaully payed it no mind as they didn't usaully last very long.

Lyssa bit her bottom lip for a moment. "I think..." she started. "I think that maybe I...I dunno. Maybe like I have some sort of multiple personality thing." She shrugged lightly as Cassie as she looked down at the floor. "Because I've noticed the changes, even though they aren't long."

Cassie just kind of blinked a few times while her mind processed what Lyssa had just said. She wasn't really quite sure what to say to that. Though in a way it made sense with how Lyssa sometimes acted Malfoy-y and then sometimes didn't. She nodded slowly thinking it over.

After a moment, Lyssa went. "And sometimes, there are times I'm not sure I can change back..." she said quietly. "It's scary, I think. Do you think that maybe...that maybe I should tell someone? Like an adult?"

Cassie made a hrm noise. "I think that would be wise," She said slowly. "They might be able to do something to help stop it from getting worse or something." She said all thoughts of finishing her homework thrown out the window.

Lyssa nodded at Cassie. "I think I'll tell...McGonagall, and she can decide from there what would be best. I trust her most out of the adults here anyway." She ran her hand through her hair again. "Want to come with me?"

Cassie nodded and got up off of the couch, she glanced at her homeowkr and decided no-one in their right mind would steal it anyway, so she just left it there. She followed Lyssa out of the common room and the two girls made their way to McGonagall office.

Lyssa knocked on the door and the two girls were told to enter. "Yes, girls?" McGonagall asked. Lyssa opened her mouth to speak, but closed it again, biting her lip. She sent Cassie a look from the corner of her eye as if silently asking the other girl to say it.

"Um," Cassie said running a hand through her hair and wondering how to phraze it without it sounding even weirder then it probably would. "Lyssa um." McGonagall looked at them patiently. Cassie hand a hand through her hair again. "Well in the past few years sometimes Lyssa has lasped into acting kind of Malfoy like and she's kind of wondering if its some sort of personality disorder or something."

McGonagall looked over at Lyssa who just nodded. "Well," the Transfig teacher said, "I'm no Healer, so I don't know anything about this, but how about, Miss Malfoy, you go talk to Madame Pomfrey about it?" Lyssa frowned. "But what if..." she started to protest, but stopped. "Fine."

Cassie sighed and McGonagall walked out her classroom up to the Hospital wing, the two girls trailing behind. Once they got there the Professor explained it to the healer. Cassie wondered what they were going to do and hoped that they could help Lyssa.

The nurse nodded at McGonagall and the professor left, leaving the two girls. "Now," she said, "if it turns out to be something like Professor McGonagall said you suspected, I don't have the proper equipment for fixing it here and you would have to be taken to St. Mungo's." Lyssa looked at the nurse with slightly wide eyes. "Seriously?"

The Matron nodded at Lyssa. "I'm going with her if she does." Cassie said quickly. "And nothing you say will sway me." The Matron didn't say anythng to Cassie but went back into her office to get something or other.

Lyssa's heart was pounding in her chest as the nurse left to do something. She turned to Cassie. "Cass," she started softly. "I...I'm scared. What if something really is wrong? I don't want to have to go anywhere."

Cassie frowned at Lyssa and hugged her gingerly. "I don't know Lyssa, I really don't. But if it gets you better then It can't be bad can it?" She frowned slightly. "I don't want you to go anywhere either."

"You'll come with me if I have to though, right?" Lyssa looked at Cassie for reassurance, just as the nurse returned. "Miss Evans I must ask you to please step outside while I determine what, if anything, is wrong with Miss Malfoy. You can come back in after."

Cassie nodded. "I will," She told Lyssa. "Promise." She then nodded at the Matron who proceeded to check up on Lyssa. Cassie left the room and went to stand outside, or more so sit and lean against the wall. She really did hope that Lyssa was alright, she didn't want her freind to be sick.

Lyssa was shaking lightly, scared, as tne nurse did a few things while asking her questions. A little while later, she said, "Could you walked to the door and retrieve Miss Evans, as I'm sure she'd like to know what is going on as well." Lyssa nodded, somewhat relieved that she didn't have to hear it alone.

Cassie reentered the room running a hand through her hair and glanced at the matron for comformation. Who sighed and said. "Miss Malfoy it appears that you do have a split personality ." She said and Cassie frowned at her. "And as I have no expertise in this she'll have to go to St. Mungos." Cassie's frown deeperned. "Does she have to?" The Matron nodded.

Lyssa frowned. "But-but then I'll have to miss classes. I'd rather not fall behind." Then she shook her head slightly. "Maybe this wasn't such a great idea. I've been fine without anyone's help so maybe I'll just be going now." And then she started to go towards the door.

"Miss Malfoy if you don't get any help the most likeley responce it for it to get worse. You need the help whether you want it or not anymore." Cassie frowned again. "Can't a healer just come here?" She asked. The matron shook her head. "Healers usaully help a few patience at once and also the supplies the healer will need aren't accesable at Hogwarts."
