Revenge is Sweeter Than You Ever Were

"I'm not stupid you know," Cassie snapped at her. She didn't like it when people made jabs at her intelligence, because she was pretty smart. She just had a quick temper and couldn't be bothered half of the time. But when she was bothered, she was pretty smart. Cassie pulled on the tub. 'let go."

"I'm not letting go. I already told you, you are stirring it in," Lyssa snapped, pulling back on the container. "Besides, we all know that Gryffindors are incompetent potions makers."

"I'm not imcompitent," Cassie scowled indignently. "Some Gryffindors are yes, but that doesn't mean all of us are."

Lyssa shrugged at her. "Either way, I'm pouring it in."

"No your not."

"Yes, I am," Lyssa hissed pulling on the container so much that she saw Cassie lose her grip and then with the momentum, Lyssa lost her grip on it as well. The ingredient splattered everywhere, as it was a liquid.

"Nice going," Cassie said looking at the spilt ingredient spilt all over their desk and themselves. "If that got into the potion then we're going to need to restart." She said picking up her book and trying to get the liquid off it.

"I didn't do it," Lyssa said. "It's all your fault. If you would have just cooperated..." Then she looked at her robes and at her book. Sighing, she pulled out her wand and magically dried both. She looked at the potion, which was meant to change color with the ingredient. It was still the same color. "I don't think any got in."

"Was not my fault, I said I was pouring first. So if you hadn't argued about that." Cassie brushed the liquid in her robes, get the most of it off them.

"I grabbed it first," Lyssa said.

"We grabbed it at the same time," Cassie said with an eyeroll.

"Whatever you say," Lyssa said copying the eye roll. Just then Slughorn came over to the two. "And just what is the problem here?" he asked. "She is," Lyssa said accusingly and pointing at Cassie.

Cassie rolled her eyes at Lyssa. Slughorn frowned looking at the two girls, "If you two want a good mark you are going to have to learn to work together because I am not changing you just because you don't wish to get along." He turned to see what some other people were doing.

Lyssa frowned at Slughorn's back. "Does he not see that it's not that we don't want to, but that it's that we can't get along no matter what basically. Or is he really so stupid as to not understand that?" she muttered, risking ranting.

"I actually don't think he really cares," Cassie said with shrug. "What's it to him if we fail anyway? Hejust needs to teach us what we need to know."

Lyssa sighed and scowled. "This is ridiculous," she said. "And we need to get back to work, because we're falling behind now."

"You're welcome to go and get the ingredient you spilt," Cassie said, glancing across the room to see what her freinds were doing.

"I'll get it," Lyssa said, sounding like she was agreeing, "if I get to pour it," but she was totally not agreeing.

Cassie rolled her eyes. "Whatever," She said shrugging, she wasn't in the mood to argue and she didn't want Slughorn to get tired with them and give them a det.

"Lovely," Lyssa said getting up and going over to get the ingredient.

Cassie sighed irritably. She was not happy with Slughorn and partnering her with Malfoy. She couldn't stand the girl, but she didn't wanta det. As she didn't want to lose her bet with Patrick.

Lyssa got the ingredient, and returned to the table where she and Cassie were working. "Alright," she said. "Let's get it in the potion this time."

Cassie rolled her eyes, grabbing the stiring rod and stiring as Lyssa added the mixture into the potion.

They actually managed to get it in the potion, correctly and everything. Lyssa nearly allowed herself to smile at the accomplishment. But that would've been un-Malfoy of her. So, she just moved to the next step.

Cassie glanced at the instruction book, she ran her finger down the page until she found where they were up to. She picked up the next ingredient, grabbing her knife. She cut the ingredient, nicely this time.
