I'm Guessing You Can't Always Win

Regan looked at her for a moment. "Chess?" She asked. And then shrugged somewhat. "Okay than."

Lani shrugged as well, conjuring up a chess board.

The two girls sat down. "I hate chess," Taylor said looking at the board.

"That's sad," Lani said, setting the board up. "I was going to offer to let you play winner."

"Hmm," Tay said, making a slight noise of pain.

Lani looked at Regan. "Which side do you want?"

"Black," Regan replied.

"Mkay," Lani said, turning the board so they were facing their respective sides.

Reg waited for Lani to move.

And so they played for a few hours, nearly drawing a couple times.

"You two suck at this game," Taylor muttered watching them. "Like really, you could have checkmated eachother about fourtimes by now."

"Well, we like a challenge," Lani said. "I mean really, what's the fun in ending things quickly?"

"Wouldn't it be better to win when you have the chance, then continue and take the risk of losing?" Taylor asked watching one of the peices get taken.

"But, that's the fun in it."

"Owwww," Taylor moaned, squeezing her eyes shut again. Shepulled her knees tighter into her stomach, as if pressure would somehow relieve some of the pain.

"Having problems over there?"

"No," Taylor said through clenched teeth. "Having the time of my life."

"Good," Lani said with a smile in her direction.

"uarg," Taylor groaned with a cough, she wanted to be able to breath normally. Regan's peice took one of Lani's. "Check," She said.

Lani narrowed her eyes at Regan, then looked at Taylor. "Would you shush up? You're breaking my concentration."

Regan grinned at her, as the game continued. Not having that many peieces left on the board. Tay ignored her, leaning back into the wall.

And so the game went on.

Once they finished their game the girls left, leaving Taylor hunched into the wall. With a horrid headache and hardly able to breath. Which really did not help the headache.

They returned the next morning. "Ready to get started?" Lani asked. "Or was what you already went through enough?"

Taylor didn't respond, her head ached and she couldn't breath and she wanted it to stop. But she couldn't tell them about the order, because than more people would end up in her position.
