I'm leaving this history behind me. Burn me off your family tree but nothing can stop me.

Sirius sniffled. "Fine, don't join in the comforting of your best friend," he muttered. "I'll just retract my love and give it all to Peter and Remus."

Yeah, he hadn't wanted comforted before but now all of his friends were in one place and he kind of did. Or maybe he just liked being the center of attention...In all honesty it was probably both, but moreso the needing comforted one.

James got up and walked over sitting down on the bed leaning against the headboard. "Happy now?" he asked smiling at him. Choosing not the mention that if Sirius retracted his love he could very well go and stay at someone elses house. "Are we allowed to comfort you now?" James asked him hesitantly. "Only just, I'd rather not get attacked for trying to make my friend feel better."

"Yeah, you are," Sirius replied. "I just said you could, didn't I?"

And then he wanted to see what they would do to comfort him.

Upon getting permission to, Remus automatically wrapped Sirius in a hug, not really paying attention to the rest of the room. Not that the Black really cared. He felt Peter move closer, tentatively hugging him as well. Oh joy, he was about to be squished in a group hug if James decided to also join in.

"Group hug," James said with a grin, scrambling over the bed to join in on the hug, squashing them all together into Sirius. Now that Remus was here, hopefully he would be able to help Sirius out. As James wasn't very good at seriousness, and Remus was.

And Sirius was very squished. "Ow, ow, ow, get offffff," he whined, not liking it very much. "I'm good and comforted without you all trying to make me into a pancake."

"I like pancakes," Peter said. James rolled his eyes. "Great Pete," he released Sirius from the hug and lay back on the bed.

Peter looked hurt and also let go, but Remus continued the hug. He knew Sirius wanted a hug, but not where he got squished by everyone. Slowly, he also pulled back, gauging Sirius' expression carefully. "Padfoot? James wasn't very clear....What happened?"

Sirius' face morphed from one of near content indifference to one of something akin to hurt. "I walked out," he said softly with a shrug. "They...they both threatened me and I walked out. Got blasted off the tree and everything. Reg probably hates me now...." They didn't know about how good his relationship with his brother actually was, and he'd been trying to keep it a secret from them but he was horribly vulnerable right now and it had slipped out.

James watched him with a small frown. "You've got us mate," he said sadly. "I know it's not really the same thing as your family but," he shrugged. "We're always be here for you. No matter what. And if you get bored of my house I'm sure Remus and Pete would have no qualms letting you bunk with them. "

Sirius had to smile. And, he thought to himself, he had to have the best damn friends in the world. "You guys are more my family than my real family ever was. Except you know...Andromeda. She's actually alright. And that one uncle...Anyway."

James smiled at him. Despite the fact that he had a perfectly good family, the other three were also his family. "We've got your back, and you can live on my Mum's fabulous cooking till we go back to school," he smiled again. "And I'm sure Mum will let Pete and Remus stay over whenever they want. So we'll have this giant marauder holiday."

That made Sirius grin. "Do you have any idea the stuff we could pull outside of school if all four of us were together all summer?" he asked, voice rising enough to where he almost sounded like the Sirius they all knew and loved.

James grinned. "As long as my mother doesn't find out," he shot a look at the door. "She can be scary," he continued to grin. "This is going to be awesome, think of everything we can do," he winked at Sirius. "We can take a trip into Muggle London or the nearest muggle town too if we want, ohh, I do like summer."

"You two are absolutely ridiculous," Remus muttered with a shake of his head in their direction. "You're going to end up getting arrested by the Muggle police or something." Sirius' expression grew even more excited. "THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!" he practically shouted. "Imagine. We'd have one hell of a story to tell come start of the year."

James' eyes widened with excitement. "Now that," he said cheerfully. "Sounds like a wonderful topic for who had the best holiday! Screw whatitsname who always goes to fancy places overseas," he made a face and rolled his eyes. Peter looked nervous, but James just grinned at him. "Come on Pete, it'd be awesome."

Sirius looked at their mousy friend. "Yeah, Petey! And if your so scared you don't have to do any of the stuff we come up with," he said. Remus just looked exasperated at the two of them. "I'm not bailing you out," he muttered.

"Come on Mooooooooony, what sort of friend would you be if you left us in there? Not very Gryffindor of you," he pouted. "You'd be shunned from Gryffindor house and forced to sleep outside."

"How is leaving two idiots in jail not very Gryffindor of me? Besides, James's mum would get them out, and then give a long lecture about it. I needn't lift a finger," Remus replied. Sirius looked at him with a kicked puppy expression. "I thought you love us, Moony. Why would you leave us to the mercy of Prongs's mother?"

"Because you're not sticking up for your friends," James muttered. "Which you are meant to. I thought you liked us Mooony, we help you," he frowned. "And leaving us to my mother is a horrible idea, I think we'd have to go move in with you so we don't need to be lectures and be-sides, we'd probably get grounded or something stupid and then what will you do all holidays? You'd have to hang out with Pete." "Hey!" Peter muttered.

Remus rolled his eyes. "There is nothing wrong with just having Peter to hang out with. He's a lot calmer than you lot." Sirius pouted. "Oh, I see how it is, Moony."

"Yeah Moony, be that way, being very ungrateful you know, we help you out," he crossed his arms and frowned, but glanced sideways at Peter. "Peter'll bail us out then, won't you Wormtail?" "Uh...sure?" James grinned. "See, someone's nice," he shot at Remus.

Remus shrugged. "If you two go to jail and Peter bails you out, I'm going to spend the rest of the summer hanging out with Lily and Severus," he threatened knowing it'd get a reaction out of them. Sirius's mouth dropped. "You wouldn't really do that, would you?"

"But-but," James just stared at him. "YOU CAN'T DO THAT! You can't ditch us to go hang about with those two!"

"Why not?" Remus challenged. "If you guys are going to act like unintelligent monkeys and get in trouble for it -REAL TROUBLE- I'm going to spend my time around educated people."

"Lily, yeah okay, who DOESN'T want to hang about with her? But, you wouldn't go hang out with Snivellus, that's treachery! Then, we'd HAVE to kick you out of Gryffindor. You could go live in the snake pit."

Remus rolled his eyes. "You are absolutely ridiculous. And, really, he's not all that bad once you get to know him. If you'd stop letting your jealousy get in the way, you'd know that, Prongs. And besides, being mean to him is driving Lily AWAY from you. I hope you know that."

Sirius looked at him. "I don't even know what to say right now. You've shocked me speechless, love." He froze then, eyes going wide.
