Cassie and Lyssa AE 6

"Pity the twins aren't still here, all four of us could probably fix this place up and it leads out of the school with is good."

"Yeah...I miss them," Lyssa said. "Haven't seen them in a long while."

"Yeah," Cassie frowned and then she smiled. "I'd like to see the mayhem they would get up to if they were still here."

"That would be great," Lyssa agreed. "Bad for housepoints, but great for liveliness."

Cassie laughed. "Yeah we'd lose all our housepoints but it would be amusing to watch to say the least."

"You just repeated what I said, only in more words," Lyssa said, shaking her head lightly.

"Eh," Cassie shrugged.

The two of them fell into another silence. Lyssa didn't like silences; they made her think. And during this particular silence she thought about how there were never really silences before, and how she didn't like how there were now, but she didn't know how to fix it.

Cassie sighed at the silence, she didn;t like sileces because they were awkward.

Biting her lip, Lyssa decided to break the silence and said, "I know you told me to stop saying this, but I'm sorry. I feel like I can't say it enough. I've all but ruined a seven year friendship."

Cassie sighed. "You havn't ruined it, it's just going through a..patchy time."

"It shouldn't be though," Lyssa argued. "None of this stuff was meant to ever have happened. But it did, and it hurts in a way, knowing it's mostly my fault." She stopped, suddenly finding the ground very interesting. "And you, you haven't really acted angry at me in the slightest. I can't figure out why that is. I know you're forgiving but to be as forgiving as you are being is ridiculous. I don't deserve it."

"I was angry," Cassie said with a sigh. "And anyway you havn't done anything that can't be fixed, sure it might take a while but it can be fixed."

"It shouldn't need to be fixed. Nothing should have been broken in the first place." Lyssa sighed. "Maybe...maybe things would be easier right now if I had been sorted into Slytherin like I was supposed to be."

"Sometimes things just happen Lyss, and saying stuff like that won't fix them. Nothing ever should need to be fixed but things break." Cassie glanced at Lyssa again. "How would that solve anything? And you weren't supposed to be in Slytherin otherwise the hat would have put you in Slytherin."

"It would solve things, because then I wouldn't give a damn that I seem to keep upsetting you!" Lyssa said. "Would you still have been my friend first year if I had been sorted to Slytherin? Because knowing your opinion of them, I doubt you would have been, and then this wouldn't be happening right now."

"But you weren't!" Cassie nearly shouted. "So what you'd prefer it if we were never freinds so that we weren't having an arguement now?!"

"I'm saying I would prefer it to feeling like I do! You're supposed to be my best friend, but you obviously can't tell just how depressed I am right now, or how much I have been! I hate that I keep upsetting you. It hurts to think that I'm the reason you're getting angry. I'm supposed to be your best friend...Friends shouldn't make friends feel that way. I'm saying maybe if I had been...then neither of us would be as miserable as we are right now."

"I'm trying to help," Cassie said. "It's not your fricken fault so stop feeling bad about it. Things happens, everyone fights at some point in your life." Cassie ran ahand through her hair. "You might have been happier but I wouldn't, sure I don't mind the other people in Gryffindor or the other houses but not in the same way I like you and anyway I became your freind before we were sorted so I doubt it would have changed anything."

"I can't just stop feeling bad! It is my fault! And even if it wasn't, it's in my nature to blame myself for things. So either way..." Lyssa trailed off, looking back at the ground, not realizing she had looked up to begin with. Rolling a stray pebble that had found it's way to the floor, she said, "Who's to say that nothing would have changed even though we were friends before sorting? My parents and I got along before it, and look at us now."

"It's not your fault." Cassie told her still refraining from shouting at her freind because that really wouldn't help matters. "I'm a Gryffindor Lyss, when I met you I knew I wanted to be your freind and I don't think different houses would matter to me if I liked the person, You parents tend to see the house and not the person."

"Tell me then, tell my exactly how it's not my fault. You keep saying it's not, but you're not telling me why it's not."

"You can't prove a negetive."

"Huh?"

"Nevermind..." Cassie sighed.
