Betrayal At Its Best

"I know that sorry isn't enough..."Lyssa muttered "but that doesn't mean I'm not."

"You're Sorry?" A voice said and Cassie turned around to see Remus Lupin leaning against the wall. "I didn't think Murderous Death Eaters were capabe of emotions. You learn something new every day."

Lyssa found her eyes narrowing as she looked up at Remus. "I'm not a..." She trailed off so a moment, thinking. As of late, she sort of was, no matter how much she wanted to deny it now. Lyssa looked back down, quiet.

Remus smiled, half a smile and half a smirk. Cassie growled at him before he could open his mouth to say something else. He turned to look at her. "Sticking up for the Death Eater Evans? Hardly seems like you. Expecially after what she did to your sister." Cassie clenched her fist, her eyes livid. Warning him that if he said anyting else he'd get a fist in the face

"I'm not a Death Eater..." Lyss found herself muttering. "Or I'd be out there with the rest of them, now wouldn't I?"

"You could just be saying that to try and gain our trust again so you can turn around and betray one of us again." If Cassie hadn't seen Lyssa earlier she would have admitted that Remus did have a slight point. But she had and didn't think Lyssa was acting. She knew her best friend well enough to know when she was acting.

"I don't bloody expect you to trust me," Lyssa snapped. "I'm just stating the facts. I am not a Death Eater. That is all I'm saying, and all I'm denying while I'm at it!"

"Dude," Cassie said glaring at Remus. "Shut the frick up." She was still clenching her fist and coming dangerously close to punching him in the face. He opened his mouth to say something snide and Cassie rather put off at him at the moment drew back her fist and whacked him in the side of the face. "Miss Evans," McGonagall said sternly. "What?" Cassie snapped at her. "It's a well known fact not to get on my nerves unless one wants a fist to the face."

"Cass, really?" Lyssa said, having expected the other girl to do that, but not at the same time. Then she looked at McGonagall. "Can we please just decide something? I'm quite tired of just standing here."

Cassie just shrugged. "He was annoying me." Behind her Remus was huffing irritated. McGonagall frowned slightly looking at Lyssa. It was obvious she didnt knowwhat to do.

"Professor?" Lyssa prompted, not likeing the silence that had settled over the group at that moment. She would fidgeted, had she not been spelled in place.

"We need to get back to dealing with the hurt and dying," Professor McGonagall said. "So we will deal with this later. For the meantime you can stay in the room ajointing to the great hall." She flicked her wand allowing Lyssa controll over her body again, though she didn't lower her wand. After a moment, she flicked it again and Lyssa's wand soared into her hand. Cassie supposed it was just for precautions.

Lyssa looked at McGonagall for a moment, not even registering that she could move. "You can't honestly be serious about that," she said. "I'm not walking through there."

"You have to Miss Malfoy," McGonagall said looking at her, and gesturing for her to start moving. When Lyssa made no move to move she sighed. "Miss Malfoy I do not have time to put up with your antics. I do have people and things to attend to."

Lyssa just shook her head. "I'm not walking in there, through all of those people. There's no bloody way. I do have some snse of pride and dignity you know."

"Then we'll make you walk." McGonagall said in all seriousness. "So you can either walk in there yourself or be magically forced to walk against your will."

Lyssa frowned at McGonagall. "You wouldn't dare..." she started to say, but seeing the look on McGonagall's face switched to saying, "Oh hell, you would do that, wouldn't you?" She bit her lip for a second, considering her options. "Fine."

McGonagall nodded and then set off into the hall. Cassie and Lyssa trailing behind and Remus behind them, probably to make sure Lyssa didn't randomly run off or something.

The entire walk, Lyssa kept her eyes to the floor, not wanting to look at anyone or anything.

Cassie felt somehwat awkward walking through the room and was glad once they got to the other side. The four of them entered. McGonagall turned to Lyssa. "Once this is all settled we will settle this matter." She said before strolling out of the room.

Lyssa just nodded at McGongall, not saying a word as the teacher left the room. She decided that the walk to th room had been one of the worst, most awkward things she'd ever done in her life.

Cassie sat down on a step in the room, looking about it. It was a nice enough room, she supposed. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair.

Lyssa also located a place to sit in the room, looking around. The two girls sat in silence for a few minutes, before it started to bother Lyssa and she got fed up with it. "Cass," she said, breaking it, "why the hell did you follow me in here?"

Cassie shrugged looking at her feet. "I dunno." She said with another shrugg. In truth, she didn't really. She probably could have been helping with healing or something else.

Lyssa shrugged. "Suppose I should be grateful for company," she muttered. Then she sighed. "What do you suppose is going to happen?" Lyssa was trying to keep conversation going, as she couldn't stand silence.
