In A Fight With The World

A day or so passed, and Cassie got a message from Shawn saying that Lyssa was going to get trailed again, though he couldn't say whether she was going to be freed or not. Cassie made her way to the ministry on the appointed day, she had something she wanted to say at the trial.

Lyssa was nervous about the retrial. Shawn could tell this, and so put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, which in all actually made her jump a little bit. "It'll all be fine," he told her.

Cassie sat down in the area place thing, hoping that she didn't need to come into the courtrooms again. She'd had enough of them.

"You can't promise that," Lyssa said as the two walked down the hall, almost in a friend-like, to the room where the trial would be. "I can too," Shawn replied. Lyssa looked up at him as they walked through the door.

Cassie looked at the doors and Lyssa and Shawn entered.

Lyssa looked around the room for a moment before Shawn steered her over to where she'd sit for the trial.

Cassie watched Lyssa, nervously chewing on her lip.

Lyssa sat down and looked at where Cassie was, trying to apologize for what had happened in the room with her eyes.

Cassie shrugged slightly at Lyssa. Not quite sure how else to react, and not able to say anything.

Lyssa looked down as ze guy started talking. He went on for a little while, and then mentioned something about Cassie.

"Okay," Cassie said standing up. She was lucky she didn't have a thing with talking in front of people. "So, Lyssa is getting charged with being a death eater, kidnapping me, dueling with ministry officials, breaking out of Azkaban and running from ministry officials." She looked at the guy in charge who nodded wondering what she was up to. "Well, I was pardoned from the last three, helping break out instead of breaking out. So, you can't really count those against her if you are going to be just and fair. The first, being a Death Eater, the rest of her family was pardoned with because her mother is the reason that Harry isn't dead, so again, she should be pardoned for that. Which somewhat leaves only kidnapping me, which I don't have someone pardoned to compare that with. But, as that only really effected me, and, I have chosen not to press charges against it, you, unless you want to be unjust don't really have the best reasoning to put her behind bars. And her last name, is not a reason."

The guy looked at Cassie a concentrated frown on his face. It seemed to Lyssa that he was puzzling over her reasoning and such, and she was hopefully just a little. She bit her lip harshly, waiting.

Cassie looked at the guy for a moment, before sitting back down. She hoped that Lyssa was pardoned.

Finally the guy spoke. "Miss Evans has made very good points and I have no choice but to agree with her."

Cassie's lip twitched up in a small smile.

"Very well then," he continued. "Miss Malfoy, you are hereby pardoned and are free to leave at any time."

Cassie smiled, people started exiting the court room.

Lyssa breathed a sigh of relief and stood, walking over to Cassie and without a word hugging the other girl as tightly as she could.

"Ah," Cassie said as Lyssa hugged her tightly. "Don't kill me," She said hugging Lyssa back.

Lyssa let go and took a step back. "Sorry," she said, "I'm just....really fucking grateful that you're my friend." She looked at Cassie, eyes glittering with unshed tears.

Cassie smiled softly at her. "I wasn't going to just let you get chucked back in there if I had something to say about it."

"Thank you," Lyssa whispered. "A million times over."

"It's alright, it's what freinds are for."

"Then I'm one fucking useless friend, because I cannot think of a single time I've done something for you," Lyssa said.

Cassie opened her mouth to rebut that, but she had nothing to rebut it with so she closed it again.
