Cass and Lyss (The Summer between years one and two)

The two girls walked onto Platform 9 3/4 back after their first year of Hogwarts. They stopped momentarily, looking for family, and Lyssa spotted hers welcoming her brother back home. She frowned. "I don't really want to go over there," she muttered.

Cassie frowned slightly and ran her hand through her hair. "Do you want to come home with me, if my parents allow it? I don't see why they won't though."

Lyssa looked at Cassie for a second stunned. "Seriously?" she asked.

"Course," Cassie said spotting her parents and pulling Lyssa along. "Hey Mum," She had hugging her. She smiled at her dad. "Where's Liz?" "At a freinds," Her mum replied. Cassie nodded kind of wishing that Lizzie had been here to welcome her back. "ANyway," Cassie said. "THis is Lyssa and I was wondering if she could stay for the holidays cause shedoens't really want to go home cause she was sorted into Gryffindor and well she's a Malfoy...so..."

Lyssa just sort of stood there, looking at the ground, slightly awkward as Cassie interacted with her parents. She felt out of place.

Cassie's mother (I need to go and cheak her name sometime..) smiled at her daughter and her daughter's freind. "Course you can Lyssa, it'd be nice to have you." She smiled again and shook her head at her husband who opened his mouth to say something. "Do you think you should tell your parents?" She asked.

Lyssa looked up from the ground and at Cassie's mum, shyly tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I probably should tell them," she muttered quietly. She looked over at her parents, who had spotted her and were watching, along with Draco.

"Wnat me to come?" Cassie asked her freind looking over at her family as well.

"No, no" Lyssa said, "it'd be best if I went over there alone. Else there's most likely going to be a scene caused."

Cassie nodded as Lyssa walked off to her family, Cassie turned to talk to her family galcning over her shoulder every few seconds at Lyssa.

Lyssa walked slowly to where her parents and brother were standing. As she stopped in front of them, Lyssa tucked another piece of hair behind her ear, as it had fallen forward. "Father, mother," she said after a moment looking at each of them, and trying to be as respectful sounding as she could to avoid causing a scene. "I-" she started to say, but was cut off by Lucius saying, "What were you doing talking to them? They are not company any Malfoy should keep, even one who's has been sorted into Gryffindor," he said the house name as if it were a bad thing. Lyssa flinched slightly at his words before saying herself "I just came over here to tell you and mother that I'm staying with them this summer, since I'm obviously not welcomed at the Manor, due to my being different. Nor would I want to be there, if every word you say towards me is going to be scornful." Then without waiting for a reply she turned away and walked back to Cassie and her family.

"Come on let's get home." Cassie's mum said once Lyssa had rejoined them. Cassie's dad (really should go look at names...) led them to the car and put both of the girl's suitcases into the back.

Lyssa was feeling awkward and out of place again. "I'm sorry if I'm intruding on anything," she muttered, looking down at her lap.

"It's fine Lyssa," Cassie's mum said looking back at her. "It'll be nice to have someone else aroundthe house. Cassie put your seatbelt on." Cassie made a face and buckled her seatbelt in.

Lyssa wasn't completely sure about how she was going to like this whole riding in a car thing. She'd never tried it before. After the car went for a little bit though, she decided she did not like it.

Cassie smiled amused at Lyssa. "You look like your enjoying yourself," She said with a smile. "Cassie," Her mum scolded her looking at the other girl. "You havn't been in a car before have you?"

Lyssa looked at Cassie's mom, while biting her bottom lip, and said, "No, I haven't," with a small shake of her head.

"Cassie put your feet down," Her mum scolded when Cassie restedher feet on the arm rest of the passengers seat. Cassie rolled her eyes and then curled her feet under her. She wasn't the biggest fan of car trips and it took forever to get out of the busy part of the city and out into the outter suburds and then even longer till they got to Cassie's place. "It's not that different from forms of Wizard Transport dear," Her mum said to Lyssa. "Just takes ever so slightly longer." Cassie rolled her eyes, from what she picked up from Lyssa wizarding transport was quite effeicent. "It's always uncomfortable the first times you try it."

"I don't know..." Lyssa muttered skeptically. If she was going to the Manor for summer she had no doubt she would already be there.

Cassie had to smile at Lyssa again. "Hey I need to go through this every time that I want to go somewhere, unless I want to walk which is worse." She smiled again. "it does make you slightly more patient," Cassie's mum said with another smile. "Yeah but it doesn't save time," Cassie said with a roll of her eyes.

Lyssa was quiet again. Then she muttered, "I still don't like this." She crossed her arms lightly over her chest with a frown. She was getting bored and stuff. How much longer would the trip take....

Cassie smiled amused, she wondered what else Lyssa had missed out on because of growing up in the wizarding world. "Want to play I-spy Cassie?" Her mum asked her. Cassie made a face. "No," She sighed. "I'm not eight still you know." "It's a way to pass the time," "I'm fine."

For the rest of the ride, Lyssa looked out the car's window, more bored than interested in the scenery.

They finally got to Cassie's place and Cassie unclicked her seatbelt and pulled the door open waiting for Lyssa to get out before she pushed it shut. "Cassie get the suitcases," Her dad said. Cassie sighed and opened the boot off the car pulling both cases out of the car and giving Lyssa's hers. She shut the boot and pulled her suitcase down the path that led to the front door.

Once Lyssa got out of the car, she stood for a moment, looking at Cassie's house. It was different than the Manor. Then she followed Cassie, walking slower than usual. It was still a bit odd for her, but she had a feeling it would be ok after a while.
