Cass and Lyss (The Summer between years one and two)

Lyssa smirked to herself, and fell back asleep, waking up a couple hours later. She stretched and got up, walking to the window and looking out to see Cassie and Lizzie in the pool. Then Lyssa changed from her pjs and walked outside.

"Sleep long enough?" Cassie asked her. "You were in bed for like 15 hours. Sure you don't need more rest?" She smiled wickedly.

"Oh shut up," Lyssa muttered with a yawn. "I'm just not a morning person, and I like getting my sleep."

Cassie smiled and dived into the pool coming up and dodging out of the way as Lizzie attempted to hit her with a water splash.

Lyssa walked over and sat in the chair she had been sitting on the day before.

Cassie's mum came out sometime later with lunch for three of the girls.

After lunch was done with Lyssa looked at Cassie. "Am I being forced to learn to swim now?"

"Yes" Cassie said cherrily. "You are." The day was spent with Cassie attempting to teach Lyssa to swim and Lyssa just about failing, by the end of of it she could manage to swim the width of the pool without going under and having a fit about the fact that she was going to drown. Which Cassie herself foudnd quite amusing.

Lyssa didn't not find sinking amusing, nor swimming. It terrified her actually, but Cassie was adamant. Once they stopped Lyssa said, "I'm not doing that again. There's no freaking way. Swimming terrifies me."

Cassie looked at her. "That's because you've set your mind on that. If you tried to enjoy it you might find yourself enjoying it."

"I highly doubt I could enjoy it. It scares me too much to ever be able to enjoy," Lyssa persisted.

(and yet it becomes one of your hobbys)

"Just try," Cassie said slightly exasperated.

Lyssa scowled and sighed. "Fine," she muttered. "One more try, but if I still hate it after tomorrow, then no more."

Cassie sighed. "Fine."

With that said, and once they were dry, the two girls went inside as it was getting later and the sun was going down some.

"Whatcha want to do?" Cassie asked her.

"I dunno..."

"We can play chess?" Cassie suggested.

"I guess so," Lyssa mumbled.

Cassie got her chess set which thankfully when playing with someone who wasn't in the family seemed to favour her more then it did when she was playing her mother. Cassie set it up and the girls started to play. "Cassie?" Lizzie said walking into the room. She glanced at the magical chesspeices then said. "Nevermind." Before walking back out.

Lyssa raised her eyebrow at Lizzie, but didn't say anything. She was more concentrated on the game, that she was winning despite the pieces' favoritism.

"Lizzie prefers to stay out of the magical world even if it's only moving chess peices.." Cassie said with a slight frown. One of her best freinds, Emma was that way aswell and Cassie hadn't seen her since before the beginging of the last school year. Though she supposed she wasn't going to see her this summer either.

Lyssa shrugged. "If that's the way she is then that's the way she."

"Yeah," Cassie said with another frown. "Which is kinda weird, cause when we were both younger we'd love to play pretend magic games." CAssie smiled fondly at the memories. "Oh that was great fun."

"Well maybe it's like, once it becomes real then it's not as interesting anymore. Or maybe she's jealous?"
