Cass and Lyss (The Summer between years one and two)

The Evans family and Lyssa sat around the table for dinner that night, Cassie kept glancing at Lyssa who looked slightly awkward. Lizzie was listening to her mp3 and Mum and Dad were attempting to have a conversation, though Dad kepttelling Lizzie to turn off the mp3 and socialize. "Is that really more interesting then we are?" He asked her pulling the earphones out of her ear. Lizzie gave him a look that said do you really need to ask that and put the earphones back in. Cassie snickered slightly.

Lyssa sat at the table, poking at her food and eating slowly. It was odd to her, all the interaction going on. Normally, with her family, there would be a small bit of spread out conversation, and mostly silence.

"Mum can you get me some water?" Cassie asked. "What happened to your legs?" Her Dad replied. "Nothing I just can't be bothered." "Cassie." "Fine," Cassie made a face. "Lyssa want some? and if anyone else wants some they can bloody well get it theirselves." Lizzie pouted at her and Cassie flashed her a smile.

"I'm fine, thanks," Lyssa replied quietly. It would seem she was quiet and such when Cassie's parents were around, but not when they weren't.

Cassie nodded and despite saying so got Lizzie a glance of water as well as her own. "Thanks Cass," Liz said with a smile. Cassie smiled back and turned to her Mum. "Do I need to eat the rest?" She poked at the left over food. "If you want desert." "What's for desert." "Not telling until you eat your dinner." Cassie pouted. "Then I can't decide whether eating my dinner is worth the desert."

Lyssa was quiet as the family interacted, eating slowly still. She mostly just stayed looking at her plate, and not paying too much attention to the others around her.

Cassie finished her dinner and her Mum got icecream out of the freazer. "You don't need to finish if you don't want." Her Mum said to Lyssa who hadn't finished eating. Cassie pouted at her Mum who smiled at her. "Meanie." Cassie said with another pout.

"I'm fine really. I've always been a slow eater," Lyssa replied, not taking her eyes from her plate.

"Kay and No Cassie I am not letting you scoopthe icecream, last time I did you ate half the container." Cassie pouted. "Come on, I was like what nine then?" Cassie rolled her eyes. This was the first time her Mum had actually bought containered icecream since she was nine her having eaten half of it and Lizzie just about eating the other half. "Your lucky I bought the icecream." Cassie pouted again.

Lyssa finished eating not too much later, having nearly been finished before anyway. She turned down the ice cream however. "I don't like sweets too much," she said, looking down at the table.

Sometime later the two girls were back in Cassie's room sitting on her bed. "Want to play a board game or something?" Cassie asked her.

Lyssa yawned a little. "No I want to sleep in preparation for swimming lessons tomorrow. If I'm tired I will sink."€

Cassie smiled slightly. "No you won't." But then shrugged. "Alright then." The girls got changed into their Pjs and brushed their teeth and got Lyssa's bed made. Cassie sat down on her bed with a slight smile. "You two are oganised," Cassie's Mum said putting her head through the door. Cassie shrugged. "Night Mum." "Night Girls."

Lyssa stuck her tongue out at Cassie. "I'm not taking any chances." When Cassie's mum stuck her head through the door Lyssa said, "Night Mrs. Evans." Then the two went to sleep.

It was nice to be back home again and while Cassie loved Hogwarts she missed her family a lot. Drifting into sleep she smiled to herself.

Lyssa fell asleep after a little while.

Cassie woke up the next morning to the sun coming through her window, Cassie made aface having forgotten to shut the blinds the night before but just rolled over and went back to sleep waking upan hour later.

Lyssa, who had the odd habit of sleeping with the covers over her head, didn't even notice the sun. She didn't wake up until she was getting shooken awake by someone. With a mumble she rolled over and hid her face in the pillow, not wanting to get up.

Cassie smiled amused. "Fine then stay in bed. I'll be in the kitchen downstairs." And with that she left Lyssa still half asleep.

Lyssa didn't respond. Instead, she buried herself deeper into the covers and fell completely back asleep again. She was not a morning person, especially in the summer months.

Cassie went down and got herself some breakfast. "Lyssa still sleeping?" Her Mum asked her. Cassie nodded putting some toast in the toaster.

Lyssa stayed asleep a long time after too. Until Cassie came back up to wake her up again. She rolled over and hid in the covers, still not wanting to wake up.

"Lyssa it's like ten," Cassie told her. "And if you don't get up now I'll go and find Lizzie's blowhorn. For some weird reason she got one last year...don't ask my why..."

Lyssa rolled over and gave Cassie a sleepy glare. "It's too early....Come back at noon." Then she rolled back over, and tried to sleep more.

Cassie looked at her and laughed. "Honestly." She said walking out to go swimming with Lizzie. If Lyssa wanted to sleep all day then she could.
