Cass and Lyss (The Summer between years one and two)

"I'm still not one hundred percent sure I really want to do this," Lyssa said looking at the pool.

Cassie smiled amused again. "Don't worry about it. I've been swimming since I could walk I at leat know what what I'm doing. Hang on a minute." Cassie walked to the end of the pool and dived in swimming over to the edge where Lyssa was standing.

Lyssa sat down by the edge of the pool, her legs crossed, as she looked at the water more, frowning at it really. "How deep is that water?" she asked after a moment.

"Well here it's at around my shoulders, furthur there," She gestured to the deep end. "It goes over my head and over there," She pointed towards the shallow end. "it's slightly higher then my waist."

"Right, and you're taller than me, so it'll be higher on me..." Lyssa muttered, which just made her not want to do this even more than she already didn't.

Cassie was still smiling amused. "I don't know what you are scared of."

"Oh I don't know. Maybe drowning, or making a fool of myself," Lyssa replied, muttering the last part quietly.

"Lyssa I'm not going to let you drown and I don't care if you make a fool of yourself. Come on, it's really not that hard."

"It's a pride thing....not wanting to make a fool of myself," Lyssa muttered, "but fine. If it'll make you stop trying to convince me."

"If you actually got in I'll have no need to convince you," Cassie pointed out.

Lyssa sighed and stood up. "If this kills me I'm coming back to haunt you," she said as she walked over to the shallow end of the pool and poked her foot in for a second.

"It won't kill you," Cassie said with a sigh swimming over to the step where Lyssa was gingerly placing her foot.

"Says you," Lyssa said as she ventured to step more into the water, although really it was just past her ankles.

"Yes says me, now could you sped it up? Or will I have to push you in?"

Lyssa frowned for a second. She did not want to be pushed into a pool, ever if she could help it. She walked more into the pool. "Satisfied?" she asked.

"No not really."

Lyssa sighed and closed her eyes for a second, wondering where all her supposed Gryffindor courage was. It was just some water. Then she opened her eyes again and walked farther, to where the water was past her waist now. "How about now?"

"Better," Cassie said still smiling amused.

"You're..." Lyssa stopped for a second, considering what word she was looking for, "extremely annoying right, you know. I don't want to walk any farther. I think it's deep enough."

"I disagree but whatever," Cassie dived into the pool and swam towards the deep end did a forward roll and swam back. She looked up at the house and saw Lizzie inside talking to mum. "Oh Lizzie's back. Do you want to get out now?"

"Yes, I very much would like to," Lyssa said. She was in an annoyed mood now, and was more likely to be snappy and short-tempered. "I didn't want to get in the pool to begin with."

"Learning to swim will do you good," Cassie told her getting out and passing her freind a towl. "And you never know it might do you good one day."

"Whatever," Lyssa muttered as she wiped water off of her legs with the towel. "Am I meeting your sister now?"

"I guess so," Cassie said drying herself off and walking inside the towl draped around her. "Cassie don't come in if your wet," Her father said as she stepped inside. "I'm dry!" Cassie replied. "Hey Liz," "Hey Cass," Lizzie said with a slight smile. "Whose this?" She looked at Lyssa standing behind Cassie. "This is Lyssa," Cassie introduced her. "Lyssa this is my sister Lizzie."

Lyssa looked at Lizzie for a second then said, "Hi" in the same quiet voice she'd been using all day for a reason she couldn't figure out.
