In A Fight With The World

Cassie bit her lip as the door was opened before Lyssa could open it. She looked at Lucius, chewing on the inside of her lip and wondering what was going to happen. Things were going wrong already.

Lyssa looked at Lucius for a long moment. "Father," she said finally. Lucius looked about as stunned as a Malfoy permitted themselves to look at finding his daughter at the door, when she was supposedly elsewhere.

"Melyssa," Lucius said seeming to take no notice as Cassie standing behind her. "What, are you doing, here?" He raised his eyebrow.

"Why else would I be here?" Lyssa questioned, tone slipping into a casual Malfoy-like one. "I'm here to see my brother."

Lucius raised his eyebrow at the girl. "I wasn't aware Draco was inviting fugitives into my household where they are surely not welcome."

Lyssa's eyes narrowed at him. "Okay, a) Draco didn't invite me, I can uninvited, b) I am not a fugitive, the ministry is corrupt and full of stupidity, c) I live here, so you may as well move now because I'm not going anywhere until I see Draco, d) get out of my way before I let Cassie punch you in your pointy face."

Lucius' eyes flickered from his daughter to the girl standing behind him. "Miss Evans," He said his lip curled. "As pleasurable as it is to see you again, I do not welcome filth into my household." Cassie's eyes narrowed.

Lyssa turned to Cassie for a moment as though to tell her not to do anything. Then she turned back to her father. "Look, Lucius," Lyss said in her most businesslike tone, "either you let us in the Manor now, or you will soon find yourself surrounded by Ministry personnel who, while in their search for us, might just happen to come across every single Dark artifact you still have in your possession, so I do not recommend hindering us any longer."

Lucius narrowed his eyes as Lyssa. Quicker than she could blink, he had his wand out, pointed straight at her throat. "I don't have to worry about them finding anything if I turn you over to them first."

Lyssa's eyes locked on the wand, not daring to let it leave her sight lest it do something and she find herself on a one-way trip back to Azkaban. "You wouldn't dare..." she said. "I'm your daughter..."

Cassie's eyes widened as she looked at the wand that was pointed straight at Lyssa, she knew Lucius was evil but threatening to hand his daughter over to the ministry was another thing all together. Her first clenched, as she wondered what on earth to do.

"Lucius, Father, you really don't want to do this," Lyssa kept on, noticing that Lucius wasn't moving to harm her or to remove his wand from place. "We're family. You wouldn't turn family over to the ministry. It would go bad on the name." The wand faltered just slightly. Good, Lyssa thought, Lucius still cared about the name.

Cassie watched as the wand faltered, hoping that Lucius was going to put it away. Cassie just wanted to get out of there, she knew that going to Malfoy Manor was a bad idea. Coming anywhere near the place was a bad idea.

Lyssa watched the faltering wand. "C'mon," she said, "don't turn me over. That just looks bad. And the name's in trouble enough already." Once those words had left her mouth, Lyssa knew they were a bad idea. Lucius tightened the grip on his wand's handle and moved forward just enough that the tip was actually touching Lyssa's neck. "You're as much a smudge on the name as any half blood or blood traitor relative that's turned up over the years," he said to her. "You are driving it down at this very second with every breath you take." Lyssa looked at him, fear sprinkling her eyes. "Maybe I should just remove you," Lucius finished.

"And maybe you should take your wand off of my best freind before you get a fist in the face," Cassie said unable to help herself. Lucius was starting to really piss her off.

Lyssa looked out the corner of her eye at Cassie, silently telling her to shut up before she got hurt or something, just to let Lyss handle it. "Y-you don't want to do that," she said to Lucius. "If w-word got out that you killed your own daughter than the name's condition worsen even m-more." She was actually really scared that Lucius would go through with it, but at the same time hoped he had sense enough not to. "I just want to see Draco for...five minutes and then I'm gone for good. I swear. Please."

Cassie clenched her fist tightly, very much wanting to whack Lucius in the face. But she didn't, for Lyssa's sake.

Lyssa whimpered as the wand pressed more against her neck for a moment and then drew back. "You have exactly five minutes, and then I want you off of my property, and it would do you well not to set foot here again so long as I am head of the manor," Lucius drawled, replacing his wand where it came from. Lyssa stared at him for a moment, before realizing she was losing time, and so she walked briskly into the Manor, leaving Lucius on the porch and Cassie in the yard.

Cassie wrapped her arms around her chest, standing their awkwardly and hoping that Lyssa would be fast. She did not like standing alone on Malfoy Property, where all sorts of unpleasant things could happen.

Lyssa raced upstairs to Draco's study where he basically always spent every waking moment reading books from the library. She opened the door without knocking, and sure enough he was sitting in his chair reading away. Draco looked up when the door opened and his face immediately became surprised. He threw his book down and crossed the room to embrace Lyssa. "I knew you were okay," he said, pulling back. "But you just had to make sure I knew, didn't you?" Lyssa shrugged at him. "I just wanted to say a proper goodbye," she muttered. "I didn't even get to say one the last time I went away. And even if I get out of this mess, Lucius has forbade me from coming back while he's still alive." She looked down at the floor, and the two spoke for a couple of minutes, covering everything they needed to in an efficient manner. Before Lucius could show up and kick her out, Lyssa was on her way back outside, feeling much better than she had going in.

Cassie sat down on the grass waiting for Lyssa to come out, Malfoy Manor gave her the absolute creeps.

Lyssa descended the stairs and with a quick 'let's go' to Cassie once she reached the yard she kept walking without stopping until she reached the outside of the wards, officially placing her off of Malfoy property. She looked back for a second then shook her head.

Cassie breathed a sigh of relief once they were outside of the Malfoy Manor wards. She looked back at it, making a face. "You know, I really hate that house."

"I know," Lyssa said. "And I really hate my father." She ran her hand through her hair, frowning and looking around for...something. "Where are we going now? We need to get somewhere before it gets too late."

"I don't know," Cassie said with a frown, she chewed on her lip trying to think.

"Well, no point in just standing here...Let's pick a direction and go."

"That way," Cassie said pointing in a random direction.
