We'll Never Let You Die.

Sam sighed. "I guess, but, she's having a hard time lately and not getting much sleep. It wouldn't be surprising really if her mind had started making things up to try and calm her down."

"But, now you can hear me too?" Lyssa said, as if confirming it. "So, it can't just be her mind. Although, it would be easier if I was visible as well...I became visible to Draco when I mentioned it yesterday. Maybe it will be the same for you? Or, maybe like he just wanted to see me, so he did. I don't know. I don't even know why I'm here or what I am."

"I don't know either," Sam said. "And, maybe there was something important you had to do before you died, and you never got a chance to do it?"

"Or maybe I wasn't ever meant to die in the first place and this was the best way I could get brought back while not a ghost, because ghosts are very dead, but if it's that then I could at least be audible and visible to everyone!" Lyssa stopped before she went off in a rant. "Could you try to convince Lizzie? I think I'd like everyone here to be able to hear me, since I'm going to be around."

"She won't believe it, she's hesitent enough with magic and she can see the effects of that. I don't think she likes things she can't explain why it's there." Sam shrugged with a sigh.

Lyssa shrugged although Sam couldn't see it. "At least convince her that her sister isn't crazy," she suggested. Then all of a sudden Lyssa was no longer hugging Sam. "Eck, sorry about that. Being solidish cuts out randomly," she muttered stepping away from Sam.

"That will be hard without explaining it, and she won't believe the explanation." Sam sighed.
"I'm going to go up and see Cassie."

"I'm coming with you, I suppose, since I don't fancy hanging around the kitchen," Lyssa said.

Sam shrugged and went up. She knocked on Cassie's door. "Come in," Cassie said. "Hey sweetie," Sam said opening the door and leaving it open cause she wasn't sure if Lyss was in or not. "I know you're not mad." "You can see her?" Cassie turned to face her mother. "Not see, hear." "Oh."

"But," Lyssa said, sitting on Cassie's bed. "It's better than nothing, although I don't know how Sam feels about hearing a disembodied voice."

"It's somewhat weird," Sam said looking in the complete wrong direction. Cassie smiled somewhat.

"Sam, I'm sitting on the bed," Lyssa said with a light snicker.

Sam shrugged. "I need to head out for a bit, I'll be back later." "Bye Mum."

"Bye, Sam," Lyssa said, happy that she was finally heard. Once Sam was gone Lyssa turned to Cassie. "I'm so freaking glad that worked out."

Cassie nodded. "Yeah, at least my mum doesn't think I'm crazy now. That's two people."

"Two out of the world," Lyssa said, "but two nonetheless. And Sam suggested something a little odd to me. She suggested that maybe I'm here because there was something I had to do and dying sort of cut it short, so now I'm here like this to fulfill it."

"Interesting," Cassie said, wondering if her mother had hit the nail on the head. It would make sense, having something she had meant to do before her death had gotten in the way. "I wonder what it is," She mused. "It would have to be something really important."

"Yeah," Lyssa muttered. "But, I wouldn't have a clue what that something is." She sighed. "And maybe I don't want to know what it is, because what if I figure it out and do it and then disappear?"

"I dunno," Cassie said with a slight shrug. "You don't want to be around forever though do you?"

"Well, not forever, but I don't want to go yet. I mean..." Lyssa trailed off, looking quite miserable and upset.

"No-one wants to die," Cassie said. "But at least you died fighting? You died doing something."

"I guess so," Lyssa muttered. "Although, seeing as I don't remember how I died yet, or at all, I don't know that I WAS fighting for sure."

A few days or so passed. Cassie was sitting at her desk, her knees pulled up to her chest and her head resting on the knee.

Lyssa was flopped back on the bed, just staring blankly at the ceiling, when all of a sudden she sat up, mouth agape and eyes wide.

"What?" Cassie asked her drowsily. Wanting nothing more than to fall back asleep.
