Cassie and Lyssa. (First Year)

I smiled as Lyssa was placed in Gryffindor.

"Congrats." I said smiling at her. I didn't know about the pureblood society which families were pureblood and which weren't, she seemed tence.

"Hey it's ok." I said looking over to where her twin was sitting a look of completly confusion and outrage on his face. "Your family and anyway its not like it was your chose."

The hall went silent when Harry Potter was called. Then a few people started whispering. I looked in confusion to Lyssa.

I sent a hesitant look at Draco, and he was anything but pleased. "Family or not, I'm in a heap of trouble. And they know I could've very well convinced the Hat to put me where I was supposed to go, rather than where I would have gone. I broke a tradition that's over one hundred years old. The only other person who did that was Sirius Black if I remember, and he ended up disowned."

I frowned at the table until Harry Potter was called. My eyes went wide and I looked up at him. Then I noticed Cassie looking confused at me. "He…" I fumbled to explain it with out setting people off by saying a certain name. "He's famous in this world," I said finally. "I'll explain later."

I made a face. "If your family disown you for soemthing as stupid as that then I don't see why you care what they have to say."

I nodded still confused. Harry Potter was annonced Gryffindor and the Gryffindor table cheered the loudest they had for anyone else. I looked at the boy. He had black hair and green eyes. I personally couldn't see why he was so famous.

Once the sorting was done the headmaster stood up and said some random junk I wasn't listening to. Then. Diiner.

"It's not all that simple," I defended. "If I were to get disowned, Merlin only knows what would become of Draco without me there to talk him out of things. He'd be a bit worse of if I wasn't there already. Father intends to mold him into a miniature version of himself, and you've heard me say that my father's ideals are warped."

I smiled lightly when Harry Potter was announced a Gryffindor, but I didn't cheer loudly with the rest of them. I wasn't in the mood still. He sat not far from us, with a group of who I could only guess were Weasleys.

The rest were sorted and then Dumbledore stood up to speak, which was a random waste of time. And then we ate.

I ate untill I was full then I just wanted to get to sleep. It had been a long and tiring day and I wanted to lie down and sleep. Even though we hadn't actually done much today it worn me out.

Once dinner was over the headmaster babbled about some more junk that I was too tired to even try to listen to.

We got up and I yawned slowly getting to my feet.

After dinner, throughout which I felt sick, we got up to walk to the dorms. My parents were sure to do something drastic tomorrow, and I didn't want to have to deal with that. I just wanted to skip that bit altogether. Most likely though there would be a letter, or I shuddered to think a Howler, calling me a disgrace to the family name or some other nonsense like that. I could really do without it on my first day of school, but there was nothing I could do, short of finding Dumbledore and that hat and demanding a redo, which I would never do.

The walk to the seventh floor and Gryffindor Tower, I was quiet the whole way, just staring at my feet mostly.

After a long and boring conversation with the prefect they were finally allowed to go and get some sleep.

Cassie didn't ever bother to get undressed just flopped onto the bed and soon feel asleep.

She slept restfully.

I was grateful to be in the dorms. All I wanted to do was not being standing anymore. I was feeling sicker than before and wanted to either sit or lay down.

I walked up to the girls' dorm and found my bed, sitting on the edge. Then I looked over to Cassie, who had flopped back and was asleep.

Oh well, I would just tell her who Harry Potter was tomorrow. I lay back on my own bed, staring at nothing in particular; just staring into space. Slowly my eyes drooped, and I don't remember falling asleep.

I woke up the next morning. It took afew seconds for it to dawn on me where I was. I groaned as I realised someone was up chatting away.

"Shut up." I said shoving the pillow over my face.

I looked up to see one of the girls looking highly irritated. Probably the one who I had told to shut up.

I woke up rubbing my eyes sleepily. When had I even fallen asleep? I blinked a few times before sitting up.

I looked around me, getting a hold of where I was again, and also getting a look around, as I hadn't the night before.

A few other people were already up, and one girl was already dressed in her robes (Hermione if you hadn't guessed).

I grumbled to myself and got out of bed.

Me and Lyssa left the dorm together and went down to the common room where the boy Ron Weasley was talking to his twin brothers. Harry Potter was there too.

"Morning." I muttered to the four of them but more to Harry and Ron then to the twins.

After getting ready Cassie and I walked down together and right away saw Harry Potter and some Weasleys. "Morning," I said after Cassie did.

Then I looked at the twins. They were really cute. Much cuter than their younger brother.

Realizing I was staring I looked away.

"Hey." Harry said back, he smiled.

I smiled back. "Do you like Hogwarts so far?" I asked him.

He nodded. "Yeah, but it's only day two and people are already staring like crazy."

"I still don't know why your famous." I yawned. "Lyssa was going to tell me last night but never got around to it."

"Muggle born?" Ron asked he had started listening into the conversation.

I shook my head. "Half, but I litrally grew up a Muggle, my Mum only told my about magic when I got my letter,"

"I didn’t tell you because you fell asleep as soon as we got to the dorm," I defended, pouting.

"You're mum didn't tell you?" Ron asked Cassie, looking surprised. "That must've been a shock."

"Well," I said to him, "imagine how the Muggleborns feel. They never had a chance at knowing."

I shrugged. "Doing things by magic makes you lazy, you expect magic to do everything for you."

I yawned again.

"Come on Lyss, I vote we have breakfast."

"Yes, let's," I agreed. "I didn't eat much last night…." I trailed off, remembering what had happened, and what was likely to happen.

Shaking it from my thoughts I looked at the four guys. "Coming?" I asked them.

They boys nodded and we walked down to the great hall talking. The twins dragged behind talking and laughing with each other not really paying attension to what us First years were saying. Ron was talking about his family, how his brothers had all been in Gryffindor and his sister was most likley going to get into it to.

The whole time Ron was talking, my sense of dread just grew. I didn't want to know what my parents were going to do, but I doubted it was good.

"Ron," I said after a couple minutes. "Could you please, just stop talking?"

I can just imagine how distressed I must look.

I sighed. "It'll be fine. K?" I gave her a reasurring smiled.

"They'll get over it adventually."

"Over what?" One of the twinss asked.

"Lyssa being in Gryffindor." I muttered.

"Being a Malfoy," I said with a cracked smile. "Kinda sucks when you break traditions."

We reached the doors and I froze.

I didn’t want to go in. For a new Gryffindor I was being amazingly cowardly, but I just couldn’t bare to face my brother, or anything my parents would send.

'Come on." I smiled. "We're Gryffindor's we don't run from danger."

I smiled again and we went into the hall and sat down.

A owl flew to Lyssa and dumped a red letter in front of her.

"Howler..." Ron muttered.

"Whats a-" But my question was answered when the letter began to shout,

"MELYSSA DIANE MALFOY!" I heard my mother's voice and whimpered slightly. She never called me by my full name. "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW UPSET YOU'VE MADE YOUR FATHER! YOU'VE DISGRACE YOURSELF AND YOUR HERITAGE BY BEING PLACED AMONGST THE LARGEST COLLECTIVE NEST OF BLOOD TRAITORS AND MUDBLOODS IN THAT SCHOOL! YOU HAD BEST COUNT YOURSELF LUCKY THAT I CONVINCED YOUR FATHER NOT TO DISOWN YOU FOR THIS!"

The red envelope disintegrated and fell to the table as ashes. Tears clouded my vision and I felt numb. I swayed where I sat and nearly fell backwards, but was stopped by a hand. I looked up at the person through my blurred vision and all I could make out was a head of ginger hair. I didn't care which one it was, but I found myself burying my face in whichever Weasley's it was shoulder and crying.

I watched the letter shout with a slight interest. I had never seen a letter talk let alone shout. I rolled my eyes at myself, thinking about talking letters when my freind was upset.

"That was nasty..." Ron muttered.

I turned and scowled then hit him on the head with my fork. "You twat."

Harry tried to supress a smile but it didn't work.

Fred looked completly startled, I could imagine why, a eleven year old he barely knew was crying on his shoulder. I had to hide my smile this time. George was laughing at the look on Fred's face which made Harry grin which also set Ron off. I glared at them.

"Guys your not helping." Fred muttered awkwardly not sure of exactly what he was supposed to be doing.

After a moment I sat back up and rubbed my eyes, ridding them of tears, not that it helped much. I was still crying.

I looked at who I had been crying on and noticed I had gotten tears all over his robes.

"Sorry um…which one are you?"

"Fred" The twin said smiling slightly and held out his hand.

I smiled and grimanced as I saw her twin. Draco come over.

"Lyssa..." I said nudging her.
