Cassie and Lyssa. (First Year)

"Right…sorry Fred. Didn't mean to cry all over you…" I said with a small chuckle. "I'm Lyssa, but you could've guessed that, yes?" I shook the hand he held out.

Then Cassie nudged me and I turned to see Draco coming over.

Once he reached the table I said, "Have you come to say something awful to me as well?"

Thankfully I had stopped crying, so I wasn't wiping my eyes as I looked at him.

I bit my lip to stop myself smiling.

"You've disgraced our family." He said in a slight sneering voice.

I rolled my eyes. "Prat." I muttered under my breath.

I stood up and faced him. "DRACO ABRAXAS MALFOY! YOU ARE THE WORLD'S BIGGEST PRAT!" I yelled at him. "I suggest leaving before I hurt you, unless you want me to of course. Then it would be my pleasure."

I turned and sat back down muttered, "And to think I was more concerned about you than myself over the years."

I snickered. That was exactly why she made a good Gryffindor, Slytherin wouldn't suit her at all.

"Think something's funny Evans?" He sneered.

"Hey guess what you remembered my name. Looks like you were actually listening to someone instead of admiring yourself in your head." I bit back.

"Draco, leave," I said still facing away from him in a voice so calm it scared me.

If I were to look at him again I would hurt him, and despite him being a prat I really didn't want to do that. Not to mention there were teachers not too far away and I didn't want in trouble on my first day of school.

Draco scowled at me and I grinned brightly back.

He walked off sulkily.

I sighed and ran my hand through my hair once I heard him walked away.

"Today sucks…" I muttered under my breath.

Then I laid my head down on the table with another sigh.

"I'm sure it will get beter." I consoled.

The teacher who had brougth us in the night before. McGonagall came alon handing out time tables.

"Potions." I muttered looking at it.

I nearly groaned with I saw that. We had it with the bloody Slytherins. "Better?" I asked. "It just got worse."

Then I literally bashed my head on the table as I put it back down, on purpose.

I made a face. "It will if you keep going with that attitude. Come on, we should get going."

After ten minutes of wondering where the hell potions was, we got shown their by a Ravenclaw prefect.

I yawned walking down to the dongeons.

We walked into dungeons of the school, and I fought off a shiver. It was September outside, but it was cold down here. I was going to hate potions in the winter.

We walked in the classroom,

Thankfully we weren't late and the teacher was facing the blackboard not at us.

We sat down at a seat near the back.

I yawned again. It seemed I hadnt gotten enough sleep.

The teacher, Snape I think it was, turned around and started to read off role. After passing me he reached Harry Potter. "Ah yes," he said. "Harry Potter. Our new-celebrity."

I scowled at that. It was obvious Harry didn't think of himself as a celebrity. In front of me Draco was sniggering, so I kicked his chair, making him glare at me. I smiled back.

"You are here to learn the subtle science and exact art of potion-making," Snape continued on once role was done. "As there is little foolish wand-waving here, many of you will hardly believe this is magic. I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind and ensnaring the senses…I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even stopper death- if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach."

I internally groaned this guy really liked to hear himself talk didn’t he. It made me want to bash my head on my desk. The room was silent. Then suddenly…

"Potter!" Snape said. "What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel with an infusion of wormwood?"

Harry looked confused as hell and I fought off a snicker. Hermione knew though, show off…

"I don't know sir," Harry replied.

Snape sneered at him. "Tut, tut- fame clearly isn't everything. Let's try again, Potter. Where would you look if I asked you to find me a bezoar?"

"I don't know sir," Harry said again.

"Thought you wouldn't open a book before coming, eh, Potter?"

I raised an eyebrow; no one short of Ravenclaw material would remember all that. Snape was crazy, or he just liked picking on people.

"What is the difference, Potter, between monkshood and wolfsbane?"

"I don’t know sir," was Harry's generic reply. "I think Hermione does, though, why don’t you try her?"

A few people laughed. "Sit down," Snape snapped at Hermione who had risen in her eagerness of raising her hand to answer.

"For your information, Potter," Snape began, "asphodel and wormwood make a sleeping potion so powerful it is known as the Draught of the Living Dead. A bezoar is a stone taken from the stomach of a goat and it will save you from most poisons. As for monkshood and wolfsbane, they are the same plant, which also goes by the name of aconite." He did a sweep of the class. "Well? Why aren’t you all copying that down?"

People started to rummage around for quills and parchment.

"And a point will be taken from Gryffidor House," Snape said, talking yet again, "for your cheek Potter."

And I glared at Snape from where I sat, wishing his head would catch on fire.

Git bloody git. I muttered in my head finding my quill and parchement and trying to remember what had been said. We had already lost a point and it was the first period. It wasn't Harry's fault either, stupid Snape picking on Harry. It turned out he wasn't just picking on Harry he was picking on the whole Gryffindor house but Harry more then everyone else. If a Gryffindor did anything and I mean anything he would call it out in front of the class. Slytherin of course found this highly amusing.

Throughout the class I felt myself getting more agitated with every passing moment as Snape picked on the Gryffindors and if anything Draco was going to have a sore bottom with as much as I was kicking his chair when he laughed at it all.

I felt tense when Snape came by where Cassie and I were, waiting for him to find something wrong with what we were doing. I had found I was rather apt at Potions and what we were making was exactly like it was supposed to be.

We worked on our potions quite well together. Lyssa kicked Draco's chair whenever he laughed at something that Snape said.

Snape walked around the room finding something to critisize about every potion that the Gryffindors brewed. Neville melted his and Harry got blamed for it. I had a feeling Harry was going to get blamed for everything that went wrong in potions class.

He seemed to be unable to find soemthing wrong with our potions however he resided with a snide comment. "You seem to have one thing right Miss Malfoy," He sneered as he walked past. "Though skill in family honour seems to be...lacking."

I glared at the potions master. "git." I muttered probably a tad too loudly.

Snape turned around after Cassie's comment and I felt the time to make a comment of my own on what he had said to me.

"My family doesn't deserve any honor professor," I replied looking at him. "And you know nothing about honor anyways. You've diminished yours by years of picking on undeserving students."

I snickered and bit my lip.

"Ten points from Gryffindor girls. Each." He turned swiftly and strode back to the front of the room.

The Gryffindors were peeved and the Slytherin's joyful. It was a mixmatched classroom.

I kicked Draco's chair again once Snape had walked away, this time harder than before.

He turned to glare at me, and was slightly startled when I matched it. I had never glared at him before.

"I would advise you to stop laughing. I'm not opposed to losing more points for hitting you," I said.

He looked more startled still. He had known this morning I wouldn't have hit him, but now it seemed he wasn't so sure.

"And then you'd probablylaugh again then she'd hit you again. Yadi yada." I muttered waving my hand in a on and on gesture.

"Back to work." Snape said calmly from the front he was watching us.

I scowled and went back to our potion.

Later, rather than sooner, class let out and we all got up.

Sighing, I did some mental math and calculated we had lost a grand total of 41 points during that class and Slytherin a grand total of zero.

I scowled as we walked up the stairs.

On our way to Charms we passed the Weasley twins. "How was your first class?" Fred asked us.

"Horrible." I muttered. "Gryffindor managed to lose fourty one points. Me and Lyss the fourty and Harry the one."

"Potions?"

"How'd you guess?"

"Snape's a bloody bastardly git," I mumbled under my breath, glaring at the floor.

The twins laughed as they heard.

"That right there is how we guessed."

"What?" I asked completly confused.

"Snape is head of Slytherin, he favours Slytherin and well." George looked at his twin.

"For want of a better word."

"Loathes."

"All the other."

"Houses."

"That's a tad…erm…house-ist," I said, making a face. "Now I really want his head to catch on fire."

I snickered to myself as I said that.

"Well we had best go or we'll be late."
