Pieces of Two Different Puzzles

Linn jumped as she heard Azy's voice having been spaced out. The jumping caused a bruise on her elbow to bump the table, which made her have to fight a wince. "Nothing's up," she said.

"You're limping," Azy said stating the obvious. "Something is up."

"It's nothing," Linnie said, cursing Terrance for being right about her pride. But, she also remembered his threat to make it worse.

Azy raised an eyebrow. "I'm not an idiot Linn, something is up. Tell me."

"It's really nothing," Linnie insisted.

Azy looked at her for a moment. Then frowned. "Terrance," She said.

Linnie shook her head.

Azy raised an eyebrow at her. "You're lying."

"No, I'm not," Linnie said defensively.

"Then why aren't you looking at me in the eye?" Azy asked her with a raised eyebrow. "Why are you limping? And why do you keep wincing when you move."

"It's nothing to do with him. I just rolled off my bed this morning, because I got up late."

"Linnie, you can't lie. Don't try."

"I'm not lying," Linnie said looking at Azy sharply. "It has nothing to do with Terrance. Now shut up and drop it."

Azy shrugged, picking her stuff back up. "I don't believe you Linnie, and I am going to find out if it was Terrance." She walked back over to her first spot, putting her books and bag down.

Linnie fought the urge to just bash her head on the desk in front of her. If Azy found out for sure and confronted Terrance about it, Linn was sure that he would think she told, since she had threatened to do so the night before.

After classes that day Azy was walking in the halls when Terrance walked past. "Oi Terrance," She said, causing him to turn around. "What do you want?" He asked her, with a bored expression. Azy raised an eyebrow at him. "I warned you about it Terrance." She said her tone cold.

"Warned me about what?" he asked, playing it dumb. He knew exactly what she was talking about. "I haven't done anything."

"Oh really?" Azy asked, knowing that if she was wrong she was going to look like a fool. But one thing about figuring things out was bluffing, pretend that you knew and that you knew you were right and then people let things slip. "Then why I wonder, if Linnie limping?"

Terrance shrugged. "Wouldn't know. Maybe she's a klutz."

"I'm not an idiot Terrance,"

He shrugged again. "Did she tell you then?" he asked, figuring there was no way he could outsmart the Ravenclaw.

"No she didn't," Azy replied. "But it's not that hard to figure out."

"I suppose you have a point." He didn't go further as to say that Linnie had actually told him
Azy would figure it out on her own. It would just serve to make him look like an idiot.

Azy looked at him. "You've just lost your house fifteen points for every bruise I find, and I am going to tell a teacher. The Gryffindors are going to be in a lovely mood with you now." She turned on her foot, walking off.

Terrance stared after her for a moment, swearing under his breath. For whatever reason, he had figured she was at least bluffing about taking points.
