In A Fight With The World

Cassie lay down on the dirt, sneesing as she got dirt in her nose. With her paw she rubbed at it.

Lyssa sighed as she rested her head on her paws. "Sorry, I've just done a lot of walking and not enough resting," she muttered.

"It's alright," Cassie replied, wishing that the dirt was warm. It would be much nicer to be lying on warm dirt.

"We can keep going, if you think that'd be best," Lyssa said, trying to stand back up, but failing. "Or not..."

"We can rest for a bit, that's fine. The ministry are going to have their eyes out for foxes and cats now. What we should do, is travel at night. Because that's when animals will be travelling and we're less likely to be seen."

"It's nearly dark now though...If we fall asleep then we'll never get to moving at night."

"We can rest for a bit, they'll expect us to keep going."

"If you're sure..." Lyssa muttered, upset that she was holding them back already.

"Yes I am, I could do with some sleep anyway, I didn't sleep well."

Lyssa shrugged a little and curled up in a sleeping position, tucking her nose into her paws and closing her eyes. Sleep sounded wonderful.

The two slept for a while. Cassie woke up in the night, suddenly alert, her eyes pricked. She could hear cars as they whizzed by in the road near them.

Lyssa opened her eyes a little, still feeling exhausted. She had somehow sensed Cassie's sudden alertness and it had woken her up.

Cassie's eyes darted around, she loved the fact that she could see so well in the dark, it was nice. She meowed quietly, seeing the outline of another cat sitting on the porch of the house that they were in the garden off. The cat was staring at them.

"Cass?" Lyssa said, quietly to get Cassie attention, but not loud enough for other things to hear.

"There's a cat on the porch," Cassie replied quietly.

"Well, it's probably just someone's pet," Lyssa said turning to look at the aforementioned cat.

"Probably," Cassie replied. The other cat got up from it's place and walked over to them. Cassie arched her back, hissing softly.

Lyssa tried to get up, since foxes are genetically bigger than most cats, but her legs still refused to allow it.

"Miss Evans," The cat said. "I would prefer it if you didn't hiss at me." Cassie looked at the cat startled for a moment. She recognised that voice, it took her a moment to remember it.

Lyssa blinked a few times as voice recognition settled in.

Cassie looked at the McGonagall cat, blinking. Of course they would run into her while trying to escape the ministry. Cassie looked at Lyssa, wondering whether they should just disapear into the night.

"Prof-Professor McGonagall," Lyssa said, shakily forcing herself to her feet.

"Hello Professor.." Cassie said slowly. Watching her nervously. "You're not going to give us up are you?"

"No, I'm not," McGonagall said. "If you would remember clearly I was working to get Miss Malfoy her freedom back."

Cassie nodded, thankful. "I am however curious as to how long the both of you have been able to transfigure yourself into animals."
