In A Fight With The World

"Umm..." Lyssa said, losing the fight with her shaky legs and falling again. "About two years, give or take some time..."

McGonagall nodded slightly. "On one hand that is a marvolous feet, but on the other, well it is illegal. As you didn't register." Cassie smiled wanly. "As you can see. We never really have been one for the rules."

"Besides, if we had registered..." Lyssa said. "Well....we wouldn't be standing, or I guess laying, in front of you right now."

McGonagall nodded. "I suppose that is true." "Is this your house?" Cassie asked. McGonagall nodded. "Weird," Cassie said.

"That's sort of creepy...Cassie lives that way, not too far from here," Lyssa motioned the direction with her head. "Or well, I suppose she did, since she can't really go back..." She laid her head on her paws, frowning.

"That is weird, I live near you. Well true, lived. Not that it really matters about the house. It was a peice of crap anyway. Though I've lost all my stuff." She frowned softly.

"I'm sorry," Lyssa muttered, burying her nose in her paws in a motion of hiding her face.

Cassie shrugged, or well tried to I don't think cats can shrug. "It's only stuff." She looked at McGonagall. "If it's alright with you, we are just going to hide in your garden for a while."

"That doesn't make it any better," Lyssa muttered into her paws.

"Lyssa, i'd rather have you then all that crap." McGonagall looked at the two of them. "As long as you two are not going to drag dirt all over the carpet you are welcome to stay inside while you rest."

"If I hadn't listened to you, Cassie, you would have the stuff and I'd still be around," Lyssa muttered, then she looked at McGonagall. "Really, professor, as nice as that would be, one person's already in trouble because I stayed in their house."

"I'll rephrase"Cassie said. "I'd rather be with you, then have all that crap."

"Right, and being on the run from the ministry is totally what you had in mind when you suggested the plan, is it?"

"Not really no, but it least it ads some interest to life." Cassie yawned, rubbing her nose on her paw.

"If you two girls are quite finished now, I've invited you in to my house for the night, and I would like to know whether or not you intend to do so, as it's late and I would like to sleep at a decent hour," the McGonagall cat spoke up. Lyssa shuffled a paw around. "Well, I would probably track in all manners of dirt," she muttered in response.

"We'll be alright outside Professor," Cassie said. McGonagall cat nodded at the two of them. "If you are sure."

"We're sure. But, thanks for offer," Lyssa said. McGonagall nodded and made her way back to her house, changing back to a person at the door so she could open it and walk in. Once she was gone, Lyssa sighed. "Do you think we'll be stuck as animals forever?"

Before shutting the door McGongall looked at them. "Stay safe," She said quietly. The two girls could hear because of their acute hearing. Cassie looked at Lyssa. "I don't know." She said with a slight sigh.

"I don't want to be a fox forever. I don't even know what they eat..." Lyssa muttered. "We could go all incognito, couldn't we?"

"I don't want to eat what cats eat," Cassie muttered making a face. "I do not think birds and mice would taste that nice. And maybe."

"Of course, getting disguise means either getting someone to get them for us, or one of changing back to get them, and my face will have been across wizard and muggle news by now, plus when I change back I'd still be in the prison clothes, which is no good."

"And mine will probably be by tomorrow morning," Cassie said with a frown. "My mum is going to go basaltic."

"Do you think that your mum would understand and help us...just to get disguises so we can actually walk around? Because, I mean she's a rather understanding person, or was last I checked."

Cassie looked at Lyssa. "Course she'll help. She's my mother, she isn't going to just abandon me if we need her."

"Okay, then. How far is her house from here and how long do you think it'll take? I don't like being a fox, no matter if it lets me get away with bouncing at people."
