Cassie & Lyssa (Year 7. Completed)

"He's being a git about it," I said, wiping my eyes. "I'm 17 and an adult. I can do as I please."

"He's doing the right thing, trying dissuade you from continuing as I'm sure he was," McGonagall commented.

"Not you too!" I cried, exasperated. "We know what we're doing, and we know just how far to push without getting killed."

"That doesn't matter," she replied. "As head of your house, I am concerned about you two. Just like Mister Malfoy is looking after you as a brother."

"SHUT UP!" I yelled. "I'M TIRED OF PEOPLE SAYING THINGS LIKE THAT! WHY SHOULD PEOPLE CARE ABOUT ME! I'M A HORRID PERSON!"

I sighed, "I know you mean well Professor but we're tired of people telling us to be careful, we know how it can and we don't care. That's why we're Gryffindors. We'll stand up for waht we believe in no matter the cost."

"Why are you a horrible person?" Professor Mcgonaggle asked Lyssa.

I hadn't realized I had started crying again as I answered McGonagall. "I'm selfish and stupid. I'm also weak," I said. "I can't stop things that I don't want from happening. And that's a horrible feeling. Knowing I'm too weak to protect myself. I mean sure he's one of the strongest wizards in the world but that doesn't mean anything if you have willpower. Or least I used to think that. But not anymore, not after last summer."

"Just what do you mean by that Miss Malfoy?" McGonagall asked me, eyes peaking with curiosity.

"Can we go in your office to discuss it? I don't want people hearing me that ought not hear me," I said.

"Yes, yes," she replied opening the door to said office.

We all walked inside, McGonagall giving Cassie a reproachful look. "She knows already," I said, "so it's fine if she's in here too."

"Very well, carry on then."

I wiped away a few tears I hadn't realized were still there and took a deep breath. "Over the summer I was given a Mark against my will and it's eating me up inside," I told her, starting to cry again. "And that's honestly why I'm a horrible person. Because I couldn't stop it from happening."

I sighed. "Lyssa that doesn't make you a horrible person. I don't think anyone could stop it from happening."

"Hang on what?!" Mcgonaggle said.

"Professor...Now isn't the time." I sighed again.

"Lyssa, really. No-one could stop it happening cept maybe Dumbledore but..." I trailed off. "Its not your fault."

"YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT FEELS CASSANDRA! DON'T ACT LIKE YOU DO!" I exploded at her. "It's horrible knowing that any second he could force me into doing something I don't want to because of it. That he could use it and my family to make me. It gives him a sort of power over me that I despise. It, to be completely honest, hurts my genetic Malfoy pride."

Then I laughed mirthlessly. "Anyways, now you know professor, so I'll just be headed off to class now, or more likely bed, since I'm not planning on going anywhere with tear streaks and such."

I froze. "Well your not doing much to help me understand." I shouted back. "You know im here for you."

I was fuming, she knew that she could tell me everything and I would listen.

"Girls.." Mcgonaggle warned.

"WHAT?!" We both shouted.

"Stop fighting," she said sternly.

"I will when I'm done with what I'm saying," I snapped, knowing I would regret it later.

Then I turned back to Cassie. "I would tell you these things, if I knew exactly how to word them. What I just said was only mildly expressing it," I said, trying to calm my temper that was about to rage out of control. "I'm sorry for being such a horrid friend about it. It would also help if I believed deep in my heart that I could guarantee you would always be my friend. My faith in it is only surface deep. So I may as well be sorry for that too."

I scowled. "Well im glad you believe in the relationship." I shouted sarcastic. "Its such a good thing. I would trust you with my life and my soul but I guess its not the same with you." I picked up my bag and slung it over my shoulder storming out of the room, fumming.

I stared after Cassie for a moment before I collapsed onto the ground. "Why the hell is wrong with me today!" I screamed at no one even though McGonagall was there. "I'm chasing off everyone who cares about me!"

Then slowly, ignoring whatever McGonagall was saying to me, I got up, grabbed my stuff, and walked out, heading to the dorms so I could lay down and rest. I was exhausted, mostly mentally and emotionally, but still.

I stalked off going up to the room of requirment. I didn't want to go to the commen room cause Lyssa was most likley going to go there.

I got to the room. And walked past it three times thinking. I want a place where I can just relax.

Once the door appeared I went inside.

I walked through the portrait, looking around and glad for once that no one, not even Cassie was there. I wasn't in the mood to face anyone right now.

I walked up to the girls' dorms and laid down on my bed, closing my eyes, still crying just a little. Today had been dreadful at best.

I lay there for a while, not even thinking about anything. I was just blocking out the entire world. I didn't noticed that the rest of classes had finished, as had dinner and that now people were coming up.

I entered the room and smiled it had taken the form of woods. With trees everywhere and a hammok in the middle.

I lay down on the hammoc and sung on it.

The next thing I knew I was sitting up, with sleep in my eye. I must have fallen asleep.

Eventually, late at night I fell asleep, still not thinking, not moving.

The next day when I woke up I wasn't feeling any better than I had been the night before. I lay on my bed, face in my pillow, frowning. I didn't want to get up or do anything. I was planning just to wallow in my misery and self-hatred for the day, maybe forever.

But knowing that wouldn't help anyone I got up and got ready. Everyone else in the dorm was still sleeping as I did so.

I stood up wondering where I was untill it hit me I was in the room of requierment.

"Lumos." I muttered lighting my wand.

I straighened my robes and conurjured a brush pulling it throuigh my hair.

It took my a few more moments to remember why I was in the ROR. I sighed. I hated fighting with Lyss. It wasn't fun.

I solemnly made my way to the Great Hall for breakfast. I didn't want to think about what today would be like, although I knew it was probably going to be hell.

I was one of the first to the Gryffindor table, the rest being a few scattered first and second years. I sat near the middle of the table, and put my head down on it. I wasn't in the mood for breakfast.

Once I deemed myself presentable I looked around for my bag and found it lying on the floor.

I slung my bag over my shoulder and left the room.

The bright light of the corrider momenterily blinded me.

Slowly, almost hesitantly I looked up and at the Slytherin table. Draco was already there and he looked about as miserable as I felt. We'd never fought before, so I could imagine it was a harsh blow for each of us.

Working up my so-called Gryffindor courage I stood up from my table and walked over to his, sitting down in front of him. "Hey…Draco…"I muttered quietly unsure of what I was going to say to him.

He looked up at me. "What?" he said in a tone that was almost angry but wasn't.

"I'm sorry for shouting at you yesterday. It was wrong of me. I know you're just looking out for me. I'm just so stubborn sometimes I refuse to hear what other people have to say about what I'm doing," I said slowly, carefully choosing my words. "I don't want to get into a fight with you over this. You're all the family I have left."

I walked down to breakfast trying to ignore my massive headache that had appeared when I left the ROR.

I enterred the great hall and Saw Lyssa talking to Draco by the Sllytherin table.

I sat down and grabbed some toast.

Draco nodded at me, and I know he would've hugged me if a) he wasn't on the other side of the table and b) we weren't in front of a lot of people. "I forgive you," he said, "and I'm sorry too. I'm sorry for yelling at you and for being overprotective."

I smiled at him a little. "Thanks, now I just have to make things right with Cassie…" I trailed.

"You two got in a fight?"

"Yeah…" I frowned. "Well I'm off to fix it."

Draco just nodded at me as I got up from his table and walked back to my own. On the way I noticed Cassie was sitting there, eating some toast. I went over and sat across from her.

"Hey," I said, "can we talk about what happened yesterday?"

I nodded.

"Sure beats eating toast."

I put down my toast.

"I'm so sorry," I said. "I'm sorry for yelling at you. I'm sorry for not believing our friendship. I'm sorry for ever doubting you. I'm sorry for everything I've ever done."

I stopped and looked at the table.

"I'll understand if you don't forgive me, but I just had to say it. I regret ever doing any of it. But you do have to try to understand what it's like from my perspective. Now I know I haven't told you anything to help you do so, but I'm willing to if you're willing to try. So what do you say?"

I smiled. "It's ok, I forgive you. I know I havnt been in a great mood either, I'm just completly fed up with Snape and the Carrows." I sighed and glowered up at Snape at the head of the table.

"Its just no fair, he doesn't deserve to be head of this school. Mcgonaggle does."

I gave her a small, weary smile. "That can't be said enough," I commented. "But what can we do about it? We're only students."

I guess my depressed, hopeless feelings hadn't left yet. I laid my head on the table again, hiding my face in my arms and sighing.

I smiled. "Which is why we can do alot because we're going to get underestimated."

I picked up my toast again. "We need to start the DA up again. We should go around recruiting all members that are still here and seeing if we can get new ones but being careful noone who will tell Snape hears about it."

I mumbled something that even I didn't understand, not lifting my head.

I closed my eyes and let my shoulders slump, although, according to mother, letting my shoulders slump would give me bad posture.
