Cassie & Lyssa (Year 7. Completed)

/I looked at my scedule. Potions great.

I weirdly hopped down to the doengons and leaned against the wall. I smiled as I realized the Slytherin and Gryffindor seventh years hadn't argued as much this year, maybe it was because the trio wasn't here, mainly Harry.

The bell rang and we entered the classroom. I took my usual seat up the back.

I walked to potions and sat in the back, opposite of Evans, as per usual in all our classes, since we had gone from sitting next to each other to away.

I sighed, grateful this was one of the last lessons before holidays.

Potions was boring. The day was boring.

I found myself alone walking down to dinner that night.

I yawned and took one of the secret passegways which weren't so secret anymore.

I blacked out.

Over the next few days, it seemed that Evans was around less. I ended up deciding she was just trying to avoid me. After all there weren't any classes as most students got ready to head home, so it's likely.

I sat in my own compartment on the train home, laying about on the seat in it, my head turned to look out the window as the train moved on. On the seat opposite mine sat Persephone. That should be enough to insure no one tried to come in.

I woke up with a massive headache. My arms ached too, they were pulled behind my back and tied with rope. I tried to pull them out, no use obviously. I frowned and leant softly on my side where my wand was stashed. No wood dug into me so I jumped to the conclusion that had taken my wand. It was too dark to see your own feet let alone anything else. Even when my eyes ajusted to the dark I couldn't see anything. Maybe the room was bare? I heard breathing so I knew I wasn't the only person here but I was not in the mood to talk to anyone right now. Where was I? And what was I doing here? No dount Snape and or the stupid Carrows were behind this, but why? What where they going to do? The next few days were painful, it was hard enough sleeping on stone let alone with you hands behind you back. That made it almost impossible. I wondered if I was being missed up at school. No doubt people would notice I wasn't there. Teachers expecially and my classmates. No more Stubburn Gryffindor quarelling with everything the Carrow's said. I was still wondering why I was here. I heard a door creak open and saw someone get pushed in before it closed again. The person said something and I smiled breifly reconising that vocie.

"Luna?"

"Cassie?!" The girl said she stumbled on the ground and fell next to me.

"Yep, how did you get here?"

"Nabbed me off the train." Luna replied attemping to sit up. "Because Dad has been writing stuff about supporting Harry in the quibbler. When did you get here?"

"Few days ago." I murmered back leaning against the wall. "No clue why though."

"Where are we?"

"I havn't got a clue."

Draco and I arrived home for the holidays safely. Once inside the house we were greeted by our mother, who looked a bit worse for wear, but I couldn't blame her. Voldemort was using the house as his HQ after all. She had house elves transport our things to our rooms and then she turned to me with a grim face. "The Dark Lord wants to see you. He requested it personally. I think it may have to do with your current…change of attitude. We heard from Severus. And the Carrows confirmed it."

I looked at her shocked. I knew my family was walking on thin ice with him, so why would he…"What do you mean?" I asked stunned. "He wants to what?"

Narcissa merely nodded at me. I spared a glance at Draco, whose face had gone white. Well he was certainly some help. I had only ever faced Voldemort once before, and that was a memory best left alone. The rest of the times…they were merely when I was walking through the manor and noticed him.

Taking a deep breath, I nodded at my mum. "Right…okay…" I muttered. "When?"

My mother gave me a sad look. "Now. He said as soon as you got here and were told."

I bit my lip and nodded at her. "Where?"

"The main sitting room of the house."

I nodded again. Then I turned to the large, heavy oak door. "Well I suppose I'll be back later," I said to Draco, then I walked towards it.

Me and Luna lasped into silence, there wasn't really much you could talk about when you were both Hostage. I was still wondering where we were, where would Voldemort use a safe house? I sighed furstrated and pulled at my arms wondering if the rope had gone loose over time. It hadn't.

"Cassie?" Luna said softly.

"Yea?"

"Why were you always standing up to the Carrows, it didn't get anyway, you just ended up getttig more and more hurt.

I sighed. "It's not over untill there's no-one else left to stand up, you can fight with one person, sure if would be a heck of alot easier with more but one can do it. It's better to die fighting for what's right then to live in a world where everything is wrong."

"Well said." Someone else said. I reconised that voice too although I hadn't heard it in years.

"Ollivander."

As soon as I was right outside the door it swung open, startling me. It was darkened inside with only a single chair, rather than the usual furniture. I walked in slowly, the door shutting behind me with a thud. I froze in place, suddenly nervous. And then I felt myself being pulled forward. I got nearer and nearer the chair and once I was close enough I felt the same force that had pulled me forward trying to push me to my knees. I fought against, not willing to show any sort of submissiveness to anyone ever, but it won over. I looked up at the sallow, snakey face in front of me. "Miss Malfoy," he said, and I felt a shiver run up my spine.

We talked to the wandmaker for a little bit then fell silent.

"Ollivander?" I asked him. "Do you know where we are?"

"No." Came the reply, his voice was weak, he had been here over a year, imagine that.

I sighed and pulled at the ropes around my wrist again, they were starting to dig into the skin.

"Is there a rock or anthing around here?" Luna asked.

"why?"

"To cut the rope."

We both attemped to find something on the floor, it was hard when you couldn't see and your hands were behind you.

"Anything?" I asked her.

"Nup."

It was worse than I imagined, being in the same room as him, alone, for such a length of time. By the end of the conversation, where he somehow concluded I was on his side from my muddled thoughts, I knew my face was white as a piece of paper. "Now there's one more thing you need to do," he said in conclusion. "Your arm," he extended his hand out for it.

I fought back the urge to shy back from him. "You're calling the others…?" I asked wide-eyed.

Voldemort didn't say anything, but I slowly extended my arm to him so he could call them with the Mark. I felt it burn, and fought against fisting my hand up. The other Death Eaters soon started appearing in the room. Voldemort let go of my arm and I pulled it back to me. The others were all looking towards us. I could feel their eyes, even though my back was turned to them.

He motioned his head to one of them. "Go get the girl. You know which one."

The Death Eater gave the affirmative and was gone. After he left- I didn't know which one it was- Voldemort started to explain our conversation to the rest of them, not going into detail, but vaguely enough where they got the picture.

The door swung open and light poured into the room. I saw a Death Eater walk in. He roughly grabbed my arm and litrally dragged me out of the room. Shuting and locking the door behind him. I wondered what was happening, I had a odd feeling Voldemort was here. As we walked up the stairs, I gasped. I knew this house. It was Malfoy Mannor. I had visited it a few times when I was younger. Hang on...if this was Malfoy Mannor then Lyssa would be here. I made a face and winced at the grip on my arm. I was sporting bruises everywhere and my cuts were barley healed. I tried pulling on the rope that tied my arms together again with no sucess, who ever had tied that rope was pretty good at tying rope. Unless Magic had done it, which it probably had been. The Death Eater pushed me into the lounge room, I couldn't count how ever many Death Eaters there were, I first looked at Lyssa who was knelling next to Voldemort then to Voldemort himself.

"Rise child," Voldemort said to me, and then I was sure whomever had left had returned with the captive they sought.

I felt the magic that was holding me down lift, and I got to my feet as quickly as I could without being obvious that I dislike kneeling, or anything of the sort.

"Now turn and face your last challenge. Complete it and you gain my trust. And perhaps will even restore some of your family's honor?"

I nod briefly to him once, and then turned around…to see Evans standing there, arms bound behind her back. "What must I do?" I asked in an emotionless tone.

"You've already done it before," Voldemort said cryptically, but I knew what he meant.

"Yay more Death Eaters what fun." I muttered sarcasticly. "Cause Snape and the Carrows aren't evil enough we really need more evil people."

I was frustrated. For being stuck in a bloody cellar for a week, for being treated as if I was worthless.

"But you know, I don't think I've seen that part of the house before, I suggest you get a electricinar, your lights aren't working."

"Oh shut it, Evans," I said, evenly. "That bit is really getting old. We all know by now that you think Death Eaters are evil. Me more than anyone I would assume.

"But that's just me prolonging the issue. I do have a task to do here and it's not getting done by jabbering with you."

The Death Eater holding her arm pushed her forward, making her stumble and nearly fall. Now she was in the middle of the circle of Death Eaters. I shot a sideways glance to Voldemort who nodded for me to do what I had to. With a smirk I turned my attention back to Evans. "Ready for it?" I teased her.

And for the second time in my life I used the curse. "Crucio."

I scowled. I was getting tired of being told to shut up but all futher thought disapeared from my mind as the curse hit me causeing me to stumble back and fall over. I wasn't going to scream, I wasn't going to give her that satisfaction. The Death Eaters were laughing, I tried to drown it out, tried to push off the curse. I hadn't been able to the first time because I was wondering how Lyss was holding up, I didn't give a damn how she felt now, so why should I care that she's using a unforgivabe? I shouldn't, but I still did, it still hurt me, even if she wasn't the Lyssa I knew and loved, I still somehow didn't want to her hurt. I whimpered slightly still trying to stop myself from screaming. The pain was too much, as if you be getting stabbed everywhere and lit on fire at the same time. "She's strong willed." Voldemort said, more to himself then his followers.

"She's a Gryffindor," I stated, still concentrating on the spell. "What do you expect?"

Then I turned to her. "You know, Evans, all you have to do is scream. Then I'll stop."

But I knew she wouldn't. She was too hardheaded to listen, and she would keep trying to do it her way.

I wasn't going to scream. This was going to end up being a battle of the wills, I doubted either of us were going to give in. We were Gryffindors. We didn't turn and run like the cowards Slytherin's were. I glowered up at the Death Eaters.

"Cowards." I spat. Stupid cowarding Slytherins. I no doubt everyone in the room (cept Lyss) was a Slytherin.

"Now you're just being masochistically stubborn," I noted to her. "Would you just give it up already?"

Mentally reaching for the magic within, I strengthened the curse, so that it hurt even more.

As I was doing so I look at the people around me. Most were watching, fascinated for some sadistic reason. Then I stopped on Draco. He looked almost afraid, like he didn't know who I was anymore. Hell, did I even know who I was anymore.

With a heavy sigh, I removed the curse, scream or no scream. I didn't like Draco looking at me like that. It hurt.

I lay there on the floor, panting, my body still ached and I felt slightly nasuas, but I hadn't exactly eaten anything recently so that wasn't too much of a problem. I was forced to my feet by a Death Eater, stumbling forward I nearly fell over again. Your arms were useful things to be able to use to balance.

Voldemort turned to say something to Lyss but I cut in first. "You cowards." I spat. "Give me my wand back."

"I don't think so Miss Evans." A voice I reconised spoke. I turned and glowered at Snape, nearlyfalling over again, when I moved my head spun.

"Stupid Slytherin gits." I muttered.

"I am curious though." Snape said lazily. "To as why you can't make it disapear when Miss Malfoy casts it, but anyone else you can."

"You can overthrow the Cruciatus curse?" Voldemort asked intrigued. "That is interesting. But even more, that you can't overpower Melyssa's. Why is that I wonder…

"But I digress. You can take her back to the cellar now. Her part is finished in the matter."

The same Death Eater that had her before grabbed her arm and tugged her away, almost making her stumble and fall. I averted my attention back to Voldemort.

"Did I meet your standards?" I asked, fighting back a smirk.

"Surprisingly so," he nearly muttered back, but it was still heard throughout the room.

Now I couldn’t fight the smirk.

I was thrown roughly into the cellar landing on my face unable to my hands out to help the fall. I was too tired to move, too worn out. I just lay there and cried. I missed my best freind, the one who I had always been able to count on for anything, the one that would stick by me no matter the cost, I missed her and I had a dreaded feeling I was getting her back.

A few day's later a Death Eater came and took me out of the cellar again. By this time my arms were aching. I needed to strech them, I wanted rein of them again not to be just a hinder that I couldn't do anything about. I was pushed into the lounge room again. There was fewer people then before a handful of Death Eaters including Snape and the Carrows, The Malfoy family was there too, Lucius, Nacissa, Draco and Lyssa.

"Let me go." I snarled. "Why do I need to be here? You've had your fun, I was planning on spending christmas with my family."

"It's a simple matter," Voldemort drawled out in his weird soft-loud voice. "I want to see you throw off the Cruciatus curse."

I rolled my eyes. I had to stop reading for this? I'd seen it already. "So who's going to do it?" I asked, hoping to speed it along.

"You will show proper respect when speaking," he said, with an irritated glance.

I merely smirked to tell him he didn't scare me. And he ruled through fear, so that was a blow to his ego.

"To answer your question however, I will."

I was pushed into the center of the room. I had my doubts that I could throw it off. I was weak, I was tired and I was hungry. I pushed that out of my head. If I thought like that I wouldn't be able to. Voldemort raised his wand. "Crucio." I flinched as it hit me but kept my stance. Mind of matter, it's not real, not there, in your head. I pushed it out and nearly fell with exhustion.

"Interesting." Voldemort muttered. "You would make a good Death Eater you know."

"When hell freazes over." I snapped. "Why would I join a cult that will try and kill my Dad and sister,"

"It's not just about killing Muggles." Voldemort snapped.

"Course it's not, it's about gaining power, taking over the world and gaining immortality, sure if you can kill hundreds of muggles on the way its a added bonus. You dislike Muggle's Tom Riddle because your dad was one and he left your mum. You act as if your a pureblood but you not. Your blood is about as pure as mine is." I mentally cringed. I was doomed now.

"Why you insolent whelp. How dare you!" Voldemort said outraged, although I thought his comments sounded slightly feminine. "Avada-!"

"STOP!" I yelled quickly, forgetting whom I was talking to.

Voldemort turned his gaze to me and I shrunk back, almost completely behind Lucius. Now I was scared of him.

"Have you forgotten your place here, Melyssa?" he asked in a voice that made me wish was yelling.

"No, sir," I mumbled, looking at the ground, still slightly hidden. "Sorry…."

When everyone was looking at Lyssa, I smirked to myself and concerntrated on turning into a small black kitten. I darted out of the room quickly smiling to myself. The next room was full of caboards and I hid under one. Now to play the poor lost kitty. I started mewing,
